OMG to the fifth degree!
When I saw this for 20 bucks I thought it was a dream. Once I got it installed though it made me want to scream!
I thought computer could go so slow until I decided to install Defender Pro.
So people go ahead and save your 20 bucks. This program will only leave you scratching your head and saying WTF!

Man I was at the local Walmart and saw this here 5-1 one and wondered why it had so many more features then the others and cost only half as much. I thought "Damn I can get me some good fried chicken later tonight with the money I would save."
Only problem was it lasted for two minutes and then said it was expired. The darn box says two years not two hours. I was robbed I tell ya. I call tech support and they blame it on some company named Norton. So I sent in for a refund lickty split and went back out and got Norton. Now that is a slick fast program.

Walmart told me this was a great program. It was a little hard to install, but after reformatting three times I think I finally got it to work. It's pretty slick but I don't know why they call it Malwarebites when it should be Defender Pro. Other then that I like it.

I tested this out on the 30 day trial period. I gave it a week but it is not a reliable program. It's either not responding or saying it's expired.
The website is very deceptive too. In the comparison chart they list Mcafee, Norton, and Defender Pro. What they don't do is compare similiar products. They selected the most basic anti-virus programs for Mcafee and Norton, They don't put it up against Mcafee Total Protection or Norton Internet Security which would have all those features as well.
Then down at the bottom they have the stores it is sold at and some awards. One says 2007, who know how old the other awards are. Once again its just another way to try to make them look better. If they had to compare it to the awards list of Mcafee and Norton then they would look pathetic.
I haven't seen an actual box of it, but I'm sure it promotes that it has all these extra features the others don't have and it less expensive as well. I'm sure people see that and compare it to Norton and decide to go with Defender Pro. The extra features though won't help when Defender Pro is saying it has expired or is not responding though.
Certain things like paper towels you can just grab the cheapest out there and be fine with it. Computer security is not something to go cheap on. There are too many things that can affect you if you don't have a reliable security program. There is a reason why Defender Pro is the cheapest out there and its not a good reason. Please spend the extra $30 get a quality program like Norton Internet Security. Sure when your at the store the extra $30 seems like a lot but in the long run it will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Thankfully I was only using the trial version and it didn't cost me anything.

Defender Pro wiped out my drivers and internet connection
This was a nightmare product. I installed it on my alta vista and it wiped everything out. All my drivers are erased, i have no internet connection, i could not even restore. Now i cannot retrieve my files in regular mode. I went to the Geek squad at Best Buy and they could not fix it. I end up buying a new computer $400 later. Do not buy this product!

Worked great at first
This product was great the first year I had it, had no problems at all. Then I had to renew, renewal is painful. In order to renew you must reinstall the program and put in the new serial#. I didn't have many problems after that, and then one day on both my desktop and laptop the program would no longer scan. My laptop gets exactly to 32 minutes left and freezes the whole system until I forcefully shut down the computer. On my other the computer restarts on it's own and doesn't complete the scan.

I bought defender pro 15-1, at 1st i could not install it on my old system Windows XP. So i tried to install it on my other computer, it had windows vista, No good there either. I tried to take it back to the store but we all know they wont refund software after it has been opened. so it sat and gathered dust. I bought a new computer with windows 7 on it. i tried to install it and it took just fine, so it seemed, after 6 weeks of having it on every time i turn my computer on i have a message that this pc has never been scanned, so i scan. the past 2 days i have turned it on, it has said auto update is disabled, so i enable it and click fix. it fails every time. I contacted customer service and they told me to remove and reinstall, so i have , 2 TIMES!!!!!!!!
This program is not reliable nor is it user friendly, If you are looking to buy this product i would spend the extra 20.00 and get something that has a real customer service dept. that is there when the customer needs them and has the ability or at least the know how to fix issues with their own product.

I have had Defender Pro 5 in 1 for about a month, I had Norton internet security before this and thought I would go with cheaper. Big mistake, with defender pro my computer kept freezing up. I uninstalled it and went back to Norton and have not had the problems since.

Dont waste your money on this, expired 22 months early...
Well how can you start, it has applications that can't start applications. like "error 42" And after just dealing with it, it just up and wont protect because it says that the key has expired..... expired after maybe 2 months, the box says 2011 and its a 2yr subscription. So if you want to donate your money to some hacker, (and Spybot does a better clean than this) then please go right ahead, but buyer beware. Russ@ shelton, WA

My name is Davey and I agree with Deloris. How can you call store policy a fault of Defender Pro? They clearly state on there web page how to get a refund if you opened it, but people just feel better playing the blame game.
Sure I'm not a big fan of this program. It's incredibly slow to install and set up the first time. Once you finally get it set up it seems to be okay, but you get what you pay for with this program.

I installed the program and everything went smoothly. But as soon as it was in my computer started running extrememly slowly. I had installed it hoping to clean up some of the issues with my older computer to help speed it up. It was running worse than before. It may have been better protected, but at the cost of efficiency? Not really worth it. And of course I can't return it because they won't take an opened computer program back. As previously stated, one has to open it to see if it works...right? Nice loophole.

I bought it at Walmart and followed the instructions to the letter, yet could not make it work. I uninstalled it and tried again, would not work. Tried to call support and couldn't get anyone on the phone. Tried to email them and kept getting a message that i entered the wrong security code please try again!! Took my PC and defender pro 2011 to a computer shop to have the experts install it and they couldn't make it work. Took it back to Walmart and they would not refund my purchase price because I had opened the package. HUH? Dont I need to open it to try and use it? So, I think it sucks and I learned a forty dollar lesson Defender pro gets a thumbs down from me

I just bought DP 15-1 2010' four days ago, tried to install it twice and both times this message came up "Please report the following Error Code to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware support team/Error Code:732(0,0)." When i click on DP Icon an error message came up: "Instant Plus Application has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will notify me of a solution when available." Also DP never asked me in the install what my License ID was or password, been told it was out of date? Follwed the instructions to the letter but it never worked, computer was fine before install but my protection was over so i got DP15n1 and now this. Heard some good reviews but saw alot of bad what do i do? Thanks!

Okay, I'm once again on the "live chat" trying to resolve another problem with DP. But there's no representative available to chat! Tried to reload, and now it's telling me my license ID and password are for a different product! Well, two months ago when I had this same problem, this is the ID and password the DP rep gave me. I'm sick of the problems I have every couple of months with DP. First with updates, then with the re-installation process. Now with customer service. I guess you get what you pay for - and this is cheap. Onward to better products for me!!!

This program appears to do an adequate job, but is one of the least user friendly programs I have ever used. I had a problem with it at one point where I could not manually access the program. I sought customer support, but they did not appear to even read my e-mail. Instead they just sent me the code for my free e-mail?!?
Lately a process of this program, the vsserv.exe file frequently begins utilizing better than 90% of my CPU power, and I can do nothing else for the next 5-10 minutes.
Pro: It appears to get the job done
Con: CPU power hungry, and very poor customer support.

Please stay away from Defenderpro 15 in 1. I bought it from Walmart in late January this year and the license expired in late April. I cannot reactive the license due to error code 309. The package states one year license. There is no telephone number that you can call. The only help is on line chat that doesn't provide real solution to resolve the error code. There is no follow up. This is the worst security software and worst customer service out there.

I purchased and installed Defender Pro 5 in 1. My computer was a mess. I spent hours on line with support techs and tried everything they suggested. My computer ran slowly, froze up all the time, and I finally had enough and got the address to return it for a refund as guaranteed within 30 days. What a joke. Never heard from anyone at Defender Pro and finally contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint against Defender Pro for failure to honor their 100% no questions asked guarantee, and Wal-Mart where I purchsed the piece of junk to let them know they should not be carrying this program in their stores, or at least take responsiblity when Defender Pro won't honor the guarantee. I got action after that. I was contacted by both Wal-Mart and Defender Pro within a week or two of my complaints. Check in the mail. If you feel ripped off, don't just complain - do something. If enough folks filed a complaint with BBB and Wal-Mart it would change things.

I thought Defender Pro 2008 was good. I thought Defender Pro 2009 was good,(I didn't upgrade the AV mid-year as I was prompted to). Defender Pro 2010 however is just plain terrible. I don't like the way it performs at all and it has failed me a few times. I do think the versions in the past were better. I did use customer support a few times (in 2008) and they were both friendly and helpful.

Too much time wasted on the phone with support. The support people were nice to speak to but the problems and there reasonings behind the problems were just not acceptable.
It seemed too good to be true and it is. Defender Pro, actually doesn't deserve a rating. I purchased my software from Wal-Mart. I am reporting to the BB and Walmart. They need to do some work on this program.

I have had Defender Pro for years but had to stop after all the problems with the 2010 version. Too much time wasted on the phone with support. The support people were nice to speak to but the problems and there reasonings behind the problems were just not acceptable.
Seems very little point blaming spyware and AV software from other companies for 'interfering' with the operation of your own software, when your software doesn't appear to have the same negative impact on other companies spyware and AV solutions. Bad design/coding, pure and simple.
This never happened with the 2008 version but that version was powered by Kaspersky. Starting with 2009 they switched over to a company called Bit Defender and boy was that ever a mistake.
I don't know why the switch was made but I wouldn't be surprised if it was some big corporate guy in a big office that only cared about how much more money he would be making with Bit Defender.
I honestly don't think the staff at Bit Defender test anything for QA purposes before sending it out. There latest update caused the program to think every file on a person's computer was a virus and screwed up thousands of computers.
I know this is not Defender Pro's fault for the crappy programming from Bit Defender but since they made to choice to switch from Kaspersky. I made the choice to switch back to Kaspersky and haven't had to call for support once. Exactly how an AV should work.

Well Defender Pro isn't perfect but it seems like too many posts are from people that have no clue about computers or AV systems especially Big Mike and complaining about things that are not Defender Pro's fault.
Big Mike says "Beware you have to deinstall any current protection software. Once you do you become suceptable to anything out there" When you buy ANY new anti-virus program what is the first thing that EVERY AV maker asks you to do? ITS TO REMOVE THE OLD AV SYSTEM YOU HAD!. Sorry but explain to me how that is just Defender Pro's fault when EVERY other company makes you do the same thing?

I Have purchased Defender Pro 15 in 1. If I could rate a Zero I would. This is worsse than any virus I encountered. I got the run around with Techs blaming it on other Viruses prior to install. My internet was working fine. Beware you have to deinstall any current protection software. Once you do you become suceptable to anything outthere, however installing this seem to be like a magnet for all kinds of malware that has taken over my PC. There advice after just purchasing and installing this garbage was to take it to a local PC pro. Great I just spent $40 for it now I am going to hjave to spend $105 pr more on top of it. Local repair shops must love them. Don't buy.

I purchased Defender Pro 5-in-1 2010 for my laptop because I am currently unemployed and could not afford my regular anti virus renewal. I was a spur of the moment decision based on price and compatability with my os at Walmart. I have never been so unhappy in my life I have tried to install this program seven or eight times and it never works properly. It continually tell me my system is vulnerable because I do not have an up to dae version of Adobe reader ( it wants 9.2.1 and I am currently running 9.3). I use messenger to keep in touch with my son the college student and it has stopped messenger from working in anyway except to send random messages to friends to annoy them since I have no control and I can't even login to apologize. I requested assitance from the tech support people specifically explaining the issues I am having and I was sent thier FAQ on how to access the internet if your browser doesn't want to connect. I am only a Mom but even I know the difference between an isnstant messenger program and a browser.50% of the time if I try to open the program up to the UI I get the notice that the program is currently unavailable and I must restart my computer to see if that resolves the issue. System scans or my itty bitty laptop take a minimum of seven hours and a simple defrag will shut it down completely. It has slowed my download time down to a snails crawl and the one and only game I play (with my two college age kids) no longer works at all because it has slowed my computer to dial-up speeds. For goodness sakes whatever you do do not use this product. They will sell it to you but they could care less what happens to you once you have it. There is no real warantee that they will honor despite the one in the packaging because they jerk you around untill the thirty days has gone by and then they make no effort to make things right with the customers they have offended.

I have been using DP 5 in 1 for 3 years previously, with a few issues, like having to change some apps in order to use aim, no worries.
This 2010 5 in 1 is in left field, looks like a beta release and has a former microsoft nerd designing it. Way too big at 140 meg, was not even close to that before. Over engineered it appears and not working well at well.
The skins are not appearing completely and the control panel looks like heck.
I have reinstalled to no avail, guess I am done with them, cause in this cyber world need a good defense with heavy artillery, not swords made of straws.
Richard I hear ya, thank you for posting.
I knew the price was too good to be true, but it was fine for three years. I can't but think they lost a member of the software group that had it together and some arrogant know it all came and messed up on the code big time.

At first I was impressed but soon learned that there are many issues with Defender Pro operation if at any time you have had a previous version installed. I used their removal tool to re-do the upgrade per their instructions, and still have issues. Updates won't load, firewall shuts down all the time, and my laptop thinks its a new program from time to time. I've contacted them for support and they simply ask me to repeat the un-install, re-install process. It doesn't work.

My wife has used DP for years. I really don't care for the antivirus/firewall (too much overhead) but liked the repair/cleaning utility. Two weeks ago she purchased the 2010 rev and I did the yearly update/config. Last night the machine was wiped out by a worm.
So, be weary. There are MUCH better free apps for personal use. Gee, guess what I get to do all day...

I have used Defender Pro for about 5 years and was very happy until installing Defender Pro 15 in 1, 2009. Out of the store box it would not load. Support was very helpful but would not exchange the bad install CD. They did provide a download of same. Although operational it has been with problems. Utilizing the XP restoral/go back option will make Defender pro inoperative but, a fix is available from friendly support. An inherit problem exists if you select option to flag all cookies & permission for script (Pop-up asking to accept or reject). Older versions of defender allowed the acceptance of a cookie only one time. This version adds all accepted cookies for future acceptance unless you delete them one by one (no way to highlight and delete a group of cookies or scrip requests). Defender Pro has a problem with its uninstallers for earlier versions and since one is now on their web site for 2009, 15 in 1, there may still be a problem. From what I understand is that all previous versions must be totally uninstalled from your PC before attempting to load another. The uninstaller that comes with Defender Pro does not perform this task completely for a number of versions. This may have been my initial install problem I encountered with 15 in 1, 2009. Defender pro's support staff is a good example for other Companies to follow. I have been using PC's since 1992 and this one piece of software has been the most problematic of any I have ever run. Today it again failed. It will not turn on "real time file protection" There is a download fix for this on their web site. It did not fix the problem. Monday during support's open hours, I will try to obtain a fix. When this subscription is up I will find a different anti-virus software. PS, I may just dump it and get something different before it expires.

I will do a full bit by bit wipe of drive and load XP PRO 1 more time.
Then I will try the Defender Pro again.

I just bought this from WalMary for the listed $20.00 instaled it on my Compaq R4000.
I had a bad Virus so was hopping it would scan and help me out. I could use the computer but was a mess.
After instal it asked to restart computer.
I clicked ok.
Now the computer go to log on screen. Logs on the off back to log on screen. I went to web site live suport they toldme they were sorry but a tec would have to reformat drive and start fresh. If I knew this was going to happen I would have saved all my stuff on a USB Drive and did it my self.
Well now I need to have drive copied parts saved and then the format. Called Geek street they will be charging me $100 per gig of info I need saved.
Thanks Defender your junk. Oh and WalMart will not take it back if it is opened. Defender wants me to mail it back insured and I mite get My $20 back in 45 to 90 day at a cost of $7 and $1 insurance $2 registerd <- to make sure they get it. So $30 to get back $20 thats why it is so cheap they know you will never send it back.
Eat POO Defender

I should have know better when they installed Windows Live Messenger! I don't want that, but it shows a mistake until I do it. Anything that takes over four and a half hours to do a scan, is not worth it in my book! I did get a free version of Muvee (video maker) with my purchase. I want to keep that! I just installed avast to my computer...
It is FREE and seems to have worked before. I need to call the Defender Pro people on Monday and ask if I uninstall it, if I'll loose the Movie Maker?
I don't like Defender Pro 2010 in the least! All it did was slow down my Computer to a Crawl...
I would have paid the 19.99 for the Movie Maker!
The price was nice, but then again, you get what you pay for. I will never recommend this product to anyone! Dale Bell (Dallas, Texas)

I am very dissatisfied with Defender Pro, which I purchased from Wal-Mart this month (Jan 2010). My story is similar to Richard's December 16th posting... I'm having to do some serious damage control on my PC after installing and running this product. I wish I would've thrown the unopened product in the trash... that way I would only lose my $, not my time. :(
