I was very dissatisfied with my recent purchase of Defender Pro 5 in 1. I had very little problems with my computer before I installed the software but, needed some protection. I installed it and immediately had problems. I had access to NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING! I couldn't get on the internet, through, AOL, Mozilla nor Internet Explorer. I couldn't open any of my files! I continued to get an error message. When I called their tech support I was put on hold for 47 minutes before someone answered my call (I had to be desperate to wait that long and I was). The tech went through some things and told me to just reinstall and things should clear up. It still blocked me from using anything on my computer. I called again the next day and again waited 40 minutes. I called a friend I know who works on computers. He Uninstalled Defender Pro and cleaned a few things up and my computer is working great. He put a different antivirus program called AVG it works great and is FREE!! I've never posted a negative comment about a product but, felt this was very warranted. I just lost $30.00 I can't get back. I highly advise against purchasing Denfender Pro products. I never will again!!!

Ok well where do I freakin start...this product is simply a piece of crap. I purchased this so-called anti virus protection from Walmart just 5 days ago and now I have a pile of parts that used to be considered a computer. I would NOT recommend this piece of crap to anyone. This is a virus waiting to destroy your computer. Tech support is non-existant. I have had to replace my computer thanks to this POS. I would not recommend anyone purchasing this product unless your in need of a new computer cause you will definitely need one if you load this program. I would actually rate this progran in the negative however its not an option. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM IT WILL DESTROY YOUR HARD DRIVE!!!!

I had defender pro it turns out it is the virus had to pay a little less then $150 to get it removed for me so my laptop could run mcafee did it for me after i found out. Its why you can't run it with other virus programs. Defender Pro is the virus!

I purchased Defender Pro 15 in 1 2009 back in April 2009. Installed it and it worked fine for about 8 months. Then the nightmare started...the realtime-anti virus protection for some reason couldn't work it didn't wanted to work this happened for a month and then the worst happened. the next thing that did not work was the fire-wall protection. Just like the real-time protection, the fire-wall didn't want to work it seems like something or someone has hijacked this anitvirus program. At some time, the defender pro will say something like "it's expired" or "defender pro is not working please restart your computer". I bought this at wall-mart for $40 it made a good run for 8 months but im very dissapointed. beware of programs that say they are number 1.

I just purchased this product at Target and after reading all these complaints I am going to take it back and get a refund before anything bad happens. I wish I had read these bad reviews before purchasing the product. Seems as if everyone is a scammer these days.

It should be rated less than 1 but can't find zero. Bought this from Wal-Mart 12/21/09 and installed on a Dell laptop that was running fine.It now doesn't run at all. We of course can not uninstall because it doesn't run. GARBAGE don't buy.

First of all, I need to say that I build PCs for a living. I do custom builds and have been doing so since about 1989. I also have multible MS certs, as well. I think in C++ and also create websites for clients. Most of you would consider me to be a fairly advanced user.

I've been a previous user of DefenderPro '07 and '08. Those versions seemed to work very well.

However, when I re-subscribed DP in April of '09 and downloaded the newest version, it became quickly obvious that some radical changes had taken place with the quality of this product.

I suspect that the DefenderPro I used in 2008 was NOT just an "updated" version of the same product I purchased in 2009...it was a whole different anti-virus program. The UI skins looked similar, but the program acted in an entirely different way...and it was far from any kind of improvement.

During the first six months after my "upgrade", I suffered a total of 12 total meltdowns of WindowsXP which resulted in either a system restore rollback (10) or a complete re-install (2). This was on a newly built PC with a clean install of WindowsXP that was built a month before I installed this "latest version" of DefenderPro on top of the 2008 version.

Customer Service has been dismal. I keep sending emails and support tickets, and most are either ignored or I get a generic auto-response of "have you read our FAQ?" with a link on the email. They DO NOT read any support emails sent to them.

Most recently, I encountered a very nasty malware that I happened upon when I tried to activate a video on YouTube. Must have gotten by their screening, but this was an .exe attached to a video I clicked on. I instantly had this .exe called "qkyssysguard" installed onto my browser.

Bad Mojo! It embedded itself right into my browser, creating fake anti-virus alert popups which looked like DefenderPro popups, created new windows to some false anti-virus website which turned out to be a series of links to multible phishing sites, and opened up even more windows to porn re-directs and even more phishing sites.

Oh, by the way; I not only have pop-ups disabled in both DefenderPro and EI, my EI and AV security settings are set at the highest levels possible.

Go figure.

It's good thing that I'm smarter than DefenderPro Antivirus.

It didn't even see such attacks occuring, let alone recognize that they were even a threat after they embedded themselves.

It took me two hours to rid myself of this malware on my own.

It turns out (after I did some searching) that this malware had been recognized and identified on the Net at least a week earlier, yet DefenderPro (even with an hourly updater activated) not only never recognize it, but it got hijacked, as well!

This crap that calls itself "antivirus" has been removed from my hard drive...forever!

DON'T BUY!!

im highly disappointed with defender pro, i have windows opening that im not clickin on, pop-ups out the ying yang, every day i notice changes on my computer that i haven't made or authorized. when starting my computer i have to reboot up the four times just to get the progam to start. past versions of dp have worked just fine...but the 2009 version sucks

I wouldn't even give it ONE STAR! Like others that have posted, this crap trashed my brand new computer! Wrote 3 tickets, so far have called 3 times taking up almost 2 hours of cell phone minutes, twice tech support said they would call me back and never did, they wont give me my money back and I don't even care anymore, I just want this garbage off of my NOW IMMOBILE computer (I have to use my old laptop to access the internet!). I have to call again to get it uninstalled (which they have failed to correctly do twice so far), I have installed/uninstalled/installed malwarebytes, and other crap and nothing has changed.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

They have no customer support------you will be put on hold or forced to deal with their 'tech support' that has no idea what they are doing, you will lose your internet, and I probably will never be able to remove this from my computer.

DP is a terrible product! I've been trying to get it to update for a week and never could. There was a comment about people not getting good results because they don't know how to work their computer.Even iyogi (who refunded their service charges) couldn't get the program to work! I loaded McAfees and within the hour it was updated! I purchased the DP 15-1 at WalMart and of course they wouldn't stand behind it either! I've been trying to get a refund and they just refer me to their tech department. I would not advise purchasing this product, and especially not from WalMart!

No Stars and a minus 1 - if I could give it.

A minus 0 for WalMart because they wouldn't stand behind it.

Poor... slows down the computer to a crawl...ruins your internet connection. I am going back to Norton. Not worth the $20 paid at Walmart. The tech support is pathetic. A great way to trash your computer. You get what you pay for. Un-install leaves nag screen and lots of garbage files that you can't delete. Stay clear of this junk. I would not reccomend it if it was free.

I purchased a Defender Pro 2010 5-in-1 Software package from my local Walmart a week ago. I started downloading it but since "I have slow dial-up" it was taking forever and I didn't read the entire back panel of the package saying " High speed is recommended". High speed is hard to come by in my area. So...I tried contacting Defender Pro 3x's now ...looking for a flippin' mailing address to send the software back and try to regain my $20.00 to no avail. No 1-800 number listed...no mailing address. What's up with that? So, if anybody please knows of a mailing address to recup my loss, please send it to [email protected] a.s.a.p.

We had Defender Pro 2007 which was gimpy - but usually after an hour or two could resolve the problems. Not much worse than Norton ever was. Now we have run the new DP 2009 for ten months and it just quit scanning and real time protection turned itself off - on both computers. I suspected a Windows Vista update package. Anyway, I am not paying $9.99 a minute to fix a faulty product. I believe it was a good product - but they are not updatting and staying current and that's where the problems lie. Email support was quick the first two inquiries this month - but no one reads them - they just send back one or two form answers. Of course - utterly irrelevant. Totally useless. If you assure them that Windows Defender Firewall is disabled - why do they insist on emailing back instructions to turn it off???? Now they have taken to ignoring me after the two form emails. We have reinstalled 5-6 times and did all the repairs - AND NO DP support - we have no Norton remmnants left anywhere on the computers - heck we used the Norton uninstall tool when they were brand new and have run DP 2.5 years now. All that said - if you don't mind it breaking down for no reason every 3-4 months - going entirely gimpy - and getting no help short of paying a fortune for it - than by all means buy the product. I am going to thrash both the installs (God help me, I am hearing real nightmare stories about that) and go back to McAfee of Norton. Tonight.

Installed this for a friend's daughter (she bought it). She's had this on her computer for 5 months & i finally got it to scan, after many reinstalls, DP's online help, & finally restoring to factory setup. AND IT STILL ISN'T WORKING RIGHT. one last time for online help & then i divorce myself from this problem. Before you buy find out what others think of it!

Defender Pro did not keep my computer virus free,I got 6. Called the tech support they said it works 99% of the time, and I was in the 1% that didn't. So I got a free 30 trial of Mcafee. It took care of all 6 virus I had. So please think twice before you buy Defender Pro. I had nothing but trouble from the day I installed that sorry ass shit. Like I said think twice and pass this around. I am not the only one this has happen to.

This is about the biggest waste of money I never imagined! The $&^*( company does not provide online support, only pages and pages of crap about how glorious their company is and how superior their products are. I am unable to download updates, in fact, I cannot even FIND the dat filesupdate page. There is no phone number to contact them, and their so-called live support is another dead-end page. Take your money elsewhere!!!!!

i was really disappointed that defender Pro couldn't detect the Trojan.PWS.Legmir.AD / [email protected] virus. Microsoft did and alerted me. I bought this program because it came highly recommended, but it is another dog like most other anti-virus programs.

Worst software ever. Made my computer run super slow and thensome. Also locked me out of the internet, many pages wouldn't work.

After uninstalling it, everything worked like new again. I'm switching to something else thats better.

What a headache! I purchased the 15 in 1 from walmart. It claims I need updates and has been trying to download and install the stupid updates for 3 weeks. Sometimes it says the defender pro is expired. I can only contact tech support through email and they are of no assistance. I'm too paranoid to use my internet as usual....Not worth the $$ or time!!

I have defender pro 15-1 or what ever it is called it is the 2007 version. I have had it installed on my vista operating system and wel now I have a problem. I have to monitor my anti virus on my own, it will not update and Icannot find the free update for this. Now I need to un install it and download something else. I would love to get my 54.95 back from best buy on this darn thing

I am very upset with Defender Pro. I upgraded from DF 5-1 to DF 15-1 and that was my largest mistake. I have had so many problems with DF 15-1. I finally tried to uninstall it and have not been able to uninstall. I keep getting a window that says A network error occured while attempting to read or Fatal error during installation. I worked for a couple weeks and then i got a caption that said my subscription has expired. I paid $39.95 for such a mess and dont know if i will get my funds back. What a mess. I finally paid for McAfee and it works fine.

I cannot regiter your product, i bought the 5 in 1 pack and when i type in my id and key it says i got error 4, it cannot connect to the server to activate thus not being able to be protected. i have never had so much trouble installing antivirus protection. I am obviously connected bcuz the little two computers and the world globe indicator in the right hand corner say i am, and i can surf the web, i turn off my firewall and still nothing. I think this product is useless, only for the exception for the one percent of good reviews on the web that say it works great i think it sucks. i hope we can get a refund. i have email and called for help but still nothing. I had to conrtact customer service because of constant error messages, corrupt signature files and Tristana Exception Warnings- took 7 hours to do a full scan ( no virus found- had another software prior to defender pro but was looking for faster scanning) ultimately I had to uninstall but DP couldnt verify my permissions to uninstall the same program I put on my computer - the 2nd set of instructions from email support finally got them off - the 1st way didnt work! I had to go to msconfig in RUN and disable all programs then uninstall then reboot and finally reassign the start up menu. A BIG HEADACHE- regret ever trying it, i will be sending it back for a refund!!!!

Agent service has failed to start

Essential Services notice has been on my site for two days. I contacted

defender Pro and they said to call back tomorrow and I was also informed that they license the right to sell this program and they, whoever they are, they don't know, will have to explain it. Bad business, stay away.

    I bought this product at Walmart in April of 2012. I brought this to the Philippines where I am now residing. I just installed it today (Feb. 26, 2012. So far, it's working fine with my Acer laptop. However, the defragmenting process is toooooo sloooow.

    The protection is good and its value for money especially that anti-virus product here in the Philippines is a little bit expensive.

    But for professionals, I would not recommend buying this product. But if you already did, just make use of it until it expires.

    I bought it for $40 and had nothing but trouble. I had more virus's after I installed it. Customer service was no help. He just basically said "sorry can't fix it take it to a shop". They recommended buying a "Malwarebytes" which didn't help. I had to wipe hard-drive and trash Def. Pro. It is trouble in my opinion. Seems to be a beacon for more virus's.

    Skip this product. This is the worst software product I have ever purchased. If you don't have any computer problems, you will have a whole lot of them if you buy this product. Protection is not what you get, its becomes what you need from this software. It takes hours to load up and activate if it activates at all. And if anything goes wrong, the software will return error codes like 2, 4, 13, 100, 200, and on and on that have to be looked up at their website and provide no resolution. And if you think you can save yourself with a call to Tech Support 866-670-7855 to help you out, you better hold your breath because this is where the drowning really starts. To start off you will be on hold for the next 30 to 40 minutes waiting for your call to be answered by a call center full of a bunch of rude software illiterates. If you can't solve your problem, guess what?...they can't solve it either. Their Tech Support is of no help. They will have you go through all the same steps that you went through before you called them and then refer you to their website over and over again. If you already took the fall, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT because you will need it on this one. With this product you get NO PROTECTION, NO HELP, and NO SUPPORT.

    I have owned Defender Pro 15 in 1 for a month. I put it on my Windows XP and I love it. It basically rolled up it's sleves and took charge. It kicked out malware and adware and a couple other little nasties and now I'm running fast and smooth. I love the "Dashboard" controls. It's simple to install, operate, and keep track of what's happening. I paid $43 bucks for it and I really feel like I'm getting my monies worth. It cleaned up my computer and it works great for me. The only thing it dosen't do is clean my flat screen. Maybe the next version will do that too. :)

    Dude I was just surfing the web and then out of nowhere Defender Pro popped up and said it blocked a gnarly virus trying to get on my computer yo. I would have hated to see what that virus would have down to my computer. I'm sure it would have been extreme!

    The return policy is the policy of the store not the program itself. If you go to the website the return policy is there. Don't blame Defender Pro for loopholes, blame the store as that is the policy on ALL software. I have used Defender Pro for years and never had an issue.

    i dont see where all of you are having these problems with it. I have just bought the defender pro5-1 2010 after having used it the 2009 version and have had not 1 problem, not 1! It works great for me but i also do everything youre supposed to when you install it! if your computer is that messed up what do you expect? yes there are a few things that could be better but dont blame the program for your own ignorance on it! my computer runs great! with no problems so maybe the ones that are having issues need to be a little more patient and go through everything and do it! yea it takes a while and nobody likes to wait but once it does everything its great and furthermore damn right update update update every day! thats how you keep your computer running right and virus free. also you have to update your adobe too, if you kept up with what you needed to on your computer then this would work perfect with no issues. i will and have recommended it norton let trojans into my computer and mcafee well dont get me started for the money this is well worth it! thursday june 24 2010

    I've had DP for several years and found it to work great. It blocked all infections. DP is an Anti Virus program and it may or may not get rid of any previous infections you have on the computer, but it's give 100% protection against blocking them once it's installed. I'm sticking with DP. It's the best I've found.

    Used Shield Deluxe for years on my main PC and like it. Have a couple of other PC's, XP & Win 7.0 that I thought I'd try Defender Pro on. Interface looks just like Shield Deluxe. Did I just spend $80 bucks on a antivirus that I already have?

    can't say I like it just tried installing it on a customers machine. Even after I told them to check out the web before you buy anything. That said the install went OK except for when you try to get updates. It says you have a 65MB download that fails many times. After several hours and many reboots it finally updated. If I have to wait for 65MB of downloads why did I have to buy the CD. I don't know how well it works because I'm still waiting. I gave it a 2 star but for some reason it came up 4.

    I have been using defender Pro for the last four years i have tryed going to other programs but none does what defender pro does I had AVG in one of my computers and it started to run slow so i tock it out and when i put defender pro back in it found 15 virus's that AVG didnt stop and i realy like the fire wall Defender Pro has i was taking classes at the local trade school and i connected my computer to the school net work the teacher needed to link into my computer and was stopped by the fire wall i had to give him permission to link in to my computer

    Booyah gotta give it up for Defender Pro! I was using Personal Internet Security and that just totally bogged my computer down and never seemed to work and it cost more too! Installed Defender Pro and it detected Personal Internet Security as a virus not an anti-virus and removed it from my computer!

    Pro Defender set my computer free! I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I installed DP 5 in 1 on my Dell lattidue 620 several days ago.No problems yet. Installation went smooth and quick. I admit I bought it for the price, ($20.00 at Walmart). My older Norton internet expired so I thought I would be a cheapass and try DP because of price..I didn't have any of the installation problems others said they had and computer has not slowed down.. Just lucky I guess.....Time will tell the real story...I didn't rate it yet..

    I have been using Defender Pro for several years.

    The price is right and I have never had a problem with the product. I don't understand why all these other folks are having so many problems. But then again I work with computers at my job. So maybe thats part of it. Some of these problems folks are having may be because they don't uninstall any other virus software before install. All of them require that and all will give you problems if you don't. DP user for several years now.

    My wife and I just purchased the defender pro 5 in 1 for 2010. Its different from the 15 in 1 we had for 2009 but it works. I will only purchase the 15 in 1 from now on though its a smoother version and cover much more......
