Audio Issues Windows 98

thanks for the assistance, but that did not help. it's actually not background noise or interference. it's a short 'ting noise'. and the problem was there with the on-board audio as well, so i don't think moving cards would help. i think it may have to do with 'direct sound'? is there some way to disable this in system properities? i vaguely remember it had something do with win98 and my motherboard or something. all drivers are updated as well. again thanks for taking the time to help.

Try going into the volume control and mute everything except Master and Wav/MP3 and see if that helps. Does it happen if you play MIDI files? If not then I'm inclined to think there might be some sort of software issue. But if it's happening for MIDI's also then there are probably other issues causing this. It could be that the sound card is picking up interference from its surroundings. You can try enabling "Spread Spectrum" in the BIOS which I've heard may reduce noise. Also try moving the sound card away from the other cards.

i'm having extremely aggrivating issues with my audio. i have an aopen ak72 motherboard with a audigy gamer sound card running windows 98SE. i'm experiencing 'tings' or something whenever sound is being played and i load up something. such as, playing an mp3 and open internet explorer, there is this 'ting'. i considered that it was an 'onboard audio' issue so i upgraded to the audigy, and of course the problem continues. i also thought i had this problem fixed a few 98 reloads ago but can't seem to remember what the deal was, and i've check aopen's site. any assitance would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance...
