Recently I switched from AT&T U-Verse to Verizon FiOS for the faster internet download speed. The FiOS TV service is nice. I got the whole shebang with HBO and Showtime. But my only gripe is that it is only a dual tuner DVR. Verizon, if you get 4 channel DVR you'd instantly get a 5 out of 5 score from me, as such I give you 4 out of 5.

tv guide is too cluttered and difficult to read. DVR'd shows freeze, audio goes in and out or are just impossible to play in bedrooms. numbers on remote are still not easy to hit without looking. I did not realize how good Directtv and Comcast were until i made the poor decision to change to Verizon/frontier

Price is competitive with Cablevision. Lowball advertising is inflated by legacy telco surcharges and fees ($3.50 for unlisted/unpublished, really?) but it still works out about $20/mo cheaper than Cablevision, (and that's including three extra HD tuners), in Morris County, NJ.
Kudos to Cablevision for having 24x7 customer service (Verizon closes at 9PM). Thumbs-down to Verizon for apparently hiring ignorant cows for customer service reps. Had to call three times before someone who sounded like she cared answered the phone.

After hearing good things from our neighbor, we went with Verizon's Triple Play package with has FIOS internet with phone and TV. The DVR is pretty easy to use but the menus gets some used to. Also personally I'm wishing for more HD channels, but I'm sure that's coming. I haven't noticed anything "better" quality wise with the phone quality. They should make some kind of feature where you can block specific telemarketer numbers.
The one big difference we've noticed with our Internet speed is how fast our pics as posted and shared online. For now we're pretty happy the service.

I finally switched over to the FIOS service by Verizon. Holy smokes it's fast! I downloaded a half gig video in like five minutes. It's way faster than my company's internet service at work, which I believe they're using a dedicated T1 line. I whole heartedly recommend getting this if it's available in your area. It's just awesome.

I am extremely satisfied with my Fios Triple Play bundle. Great TV service/channels, super fast internet, and clear phone service. Have also been extremely happy with their online live chat customer support, it is nice not having to call in order to get answers to my questions. I definitely would recommend Fios to anyone!

I'm needing some advice on which is the best Verizon FiOS service have installed. Should I cancel my current phone and high speed contract (one year) to get the promo for Triple Play for the FiOS service, or just go for the promotion for Double Play that doesn't include a gift card? I'm hoping the current promotional code offer is not going to expire before January because they're some really hot offers. Thanks for any input in advance!

Does anyone with Comcast ever been able to switch to Verizon, specifically to the FiOS? Friggin company just increased our monthly by over $10 it's getting ridiculous. I wish FiOS can be had in my area... really tired of the Comcast garbage.

I think existing customers should receive notification before exiting contract runs out

Just got my Verizon FiOS install done. Got the Motorola QIP 7232 DVR with a big hard drive and can support external SATA hard drives as well. You also get a better cooler programming guide too. The set-top-box is the Motorola 7100 AFAIK. BTW playing OnLive on FiOS rulez!

I have been a long-term Verizon Triple Play customer with a Verizon business blackberry and want to upgrade my wife's iphone from At&T. What kind of promotions can be offered to someone in my situation. I would rather not change service.

Hello I do have the Verizon FiOS DVR and one of my buddies have the TW Scientific Atlanta DVR. The biggest advantage IMHO is the 30 second skip that let's me bypass commercials quicker and easier. I do wish the FiOS DVR can do quick 15 minute or 30 minute skips so you can skip big chunks of a program- haven't figured out how to do that yet. Another advantage is that it's very responsive. The SC DVR is not laggy but it's not quite as snappy as the FiOS. Hope this helps!

We just got the Verizon FioS TV with Internet. Personally I am more pleased with the TV service. A sh*tload of features on the DVR and I must have literally a thousand channels it's madness. In the case of the broadband speed it's fast but we are not big downloaders of stuff, just some itunes songs and the occasional netflix streaming. Happy with the FioS double play promotion pricing we got too.

Great speed. Verizon has always had good service and competitive on price.

Best Internet service available. Has not been down in the three years that we have had it.

Verizon FiOs has the best pricing. The triple play package beats my current Comcast service by $70 a month!!

Previous Verizon user, great service, fast internet. Currently on Clear, they're giving me the shaft, so I'm going back to Verizon.

I don't have Verizon FIOS yet but I wish I have. Please Verizon and make Verizon FIOS availability happen here in Austin Texas. Specifically in the South Austin area :-) I'll be glad to pay the price and even switch over to FIOS TV too.

I like FIOS speed as I download much music and movies. I also do live video chat.

As an existing customer of Verizon FiOS I feel compelled to recommend this service. Internet speed is boom boom super fast and gaming on Starcraft II and other online games is pure joy with no lag. My brother is so jealous that I can get it at my place. Well worth the moola.

After hearing all the hoopla regarding fios we decided to try it out and have been impressed (3 months now.) Upload speed is awesome and our online backups to Carbonite is like literally 30x faster than before. Gaming rocks too. The Verizon fios TV service has been great also with all the premium channels such as HBO, Showtime, and STARZ and um some other channels as well. I'd recommend this service.

Verizon's service for internet and Fios is super. Fios TV is extremely clear and I have had this service for a year and keeping it, it's hard to beat Fios.
Posted by Sean (10 years ago)
I had Verizon Fios at my old place and love it. Comcast and Cox Communication Cables can never catch up with Fios (the speed of light).
Posted by Brent Lagos (10 years ago)
Sweet. It seems that Verizon FIOS TV subscribers will be getting a new program guide that makes good use of our HDTV resolution- kind of like what the new Tivo has done. Also you will be able to stick an external hard drive to the FIOS DVR via the external SATA connector. The new firmware/sofware update is supposed to be in place between September and December. Sooner the better, Verizon!

Once you go with Verizon FiOS you'll never go back. I'm not sure about their TV service or phone, but if you like to download stuff and leave your computer on 24/7 to keep downloading stuff, this is for you. Oh, and upload speeds are incredible too. I used to be stuck with sh*tty 256K DSL upload speed. Uploading a simple video to Youtube took freakin forever, but now they upload at like literally 100x faster. GET THIS.

User friendly platform. I previously had ATT Uverse and having experienced FIOS, it is indeed much better. Comparably priced products, very different quality.

I have a DirecTV bundle with Verizon high speed through a sign-up promotion. I noticed that we just got Verizon FIOS in our area. But right now I have a DirecTV contract so I wonder if Verizon has some provision to let me out of the contract and get the FIOS? That would be most excellent. If anyone has any information on this and can share I would appreciate this.

I have had the Verizon FIOS service for 18 and I think it's awesome. It is by far and away the most stable online but you do have pay a premium for it. I used to have a DSL broadband service and the Verizon FIOS is at least 20X times speedier according to the benchmarks I have run with no speed fluctuation stemming from neighbors or distance from central office and other BS like that.
Posted by Troy (10 years ago)
My Verizon FiOS wireless router I got didn't come with a WPS external button but that's the only thing negative I can say about the service so far. We already had DirecTV and we like it so we stayed with it instead of going with the FiOS TV, so I can't compare the DirecTV DVR vs whatever the FiOS DVR would have came with. 4.5 stars

I got hooked up with the special promo price for six months on the Verizon FIOS package. I did the speedtest performance test on the FIOS and got 31 m-bit download and 27 m-bit on the upload. I highly doubt I will be going back to Time Warner again. The TV service IMO is better than TW. Get this if u could, *TRUST ME*.

Anyone know what is the brand and model of the wifi router included in the current Verizon highspeed promo? Is it 802.11N? Thanks in advance.

I just want to remind everyone about the free Wi-fi bonus you get with your Verizon FiOS small business order. I personally travel a lot (in fact typing this from an airport) and I used to subscribe to Boingo for around $10 per mo. to access their wireless hotspots. I've had the small business Verizon Fios for like a month now and only found out about this free Wi-fi feature recently. The FiOS service itself from Verizon has been great- way faster than the T1 line we have.

i love fios! it is amazing. best cable tv ever. great picture. outstanding customer service.

We've got the Verizon triple play for fios for the past 3 or so years and it's been working nicely with no outage that I can remember, no problem or anything. I think that is not commonplace nowadays. We used to have Comcast and OMG it was sh*tty to say the least. Too bad for u guys who don't have fios because Verizon has stopped expanding fios to new areas for now.

Finally bit on the FIOS with their $20 off a month for 24 months. That's the best deal from Verizon that I have seen for triple. With three teenagers, and an 8-year-old, and 6, count 'em 6 computers, we def. needed the speed upgrade. Can't wait, thanks a bunch!

we really wanted fios from verizon badly though unfortunately they doesn't have plans in the near future to dig fiber to our premises. so we decided to do their triple play verizon dsl promotion with the directv with the free mini netbook. they came the other day and setup the satellite which is working well. dvr is cool and hd looks good. and the verizon dsl is working fine can't complain about the speed. just waiting for our netbook to get here so can hardly await for it. ben from ca

Finally bit and went with the fios triple play... the $300 off was too much to resist. Kind of nervous hopefully the installation goes ok. our satellite service and dsl were working fine but since we've got fios in our area last year i've been itching to try it out. I've put my trust in verizon and hopefully they come through. Will report back if anything goes wrong.

i can now watch nba league pass broadband plus downloading free mp3s from amazon with verizon's fios at the same time no stutter. i highly recommend this service if you are lucky enough to have it available to you and you subscribe to a premium video streaming service like nba league pass broadband or mlb tv.

Great picture!!! Menu much better than cable. Have had a couple of control unit issues.

The cable tv gives a great picture. The internet is really fast.
Posted by U-C-L-A (1 decade ago)
Two words for ya: PURE SPEED. Dude if you can get FiOS and you don't then it's a real waste. We used to have Verizon DSL but switched over to FIOS and man what a difference, especially when I upload our family photos. Youtube HD and all other flash videos with multiple streams and not stuttering at all. Granted I have an Intel i7 system but if you have a fast computer and want to watch multiple video streams smoothly, then fiber is the way to go.
Posted by Aladin15 (1 decade ago)
Fios itself is great! But forget about your money saving promotions (didn't receive anything from them after 150 days and 3 times calling = total calling time 70 min.)or about customer service. They are good and fast if they are selling it to you, but you will spend hours on the waiting line if you are looking for some help.
Posted by JB (1 decade ago)
We've got the fiber DSL from Verizon for a month now. Dang it is fast. I can download at more than a meg a second. You can't bee the speed for the price.

I had a work transfer to Virginia and saw that FiOS was available here. A pair of cable guys or in this case should I say "FiOS guys" came on time for the installation and setup. After an hour of fiddling around they informed me that there was a signal issue likely stemming from the drop from the unit above me. They wouldn't have access and that second they would not be responsible for doing the work there. So believe it or not, they just left. I spent over an hour with the Verizon CS department and they including the supervisor told me there's nothing they could do. Terrible service and an annoying time waster got my hopes all up. Why advertise that the service is available when it isn't it? I mean weren't they the ones who pulled the cables in the first place, and if they messed up on the infrastructure why don't they find a way to fix it? Obviously I'm not wanted as a customer. DO NOT order Verizon FiOS if you value your time.
