Bad experience

I thought I was calling HP based on my google search but it turned out to be IYOGI. Anyhow, I needed to order a wireless HDMI transmitter. I gave them a specific HP model # that I was after and instead they highly recommended a "Netgear WNDR3400" claiming it would be the best fit for what I was after. I spoke with two different representatives for quite sometime and asked them each multiple times to verify that this was a wireless HDMI and both said yes (I am not a computer geek, I was assuming that I could place some trust in their knowledge). Well, what they sent me was clearly NOT a wireless HDMI transmitter and is not going to work for what I need. After calling to figure out how to return it (I was on the phone with them for over an hr.) they wanted to charge me $25 for "shipping" (which was to be taken off my refund) even though they will not send me a shipping label to send it back to them... I would still need to pay to ship it back to them on top of the $25 (after telling them that was completely ridiculous, they did offer to give me the full $137). I let him know I was still upset that I needed to pay to have the item shipped back to them, because ultimately this was their mistake. At one point he offered to deduct 15% off the $137+ that I paid for the item if I would keep it (which I don't need.. I already have a wireless router). Doing a quick search while they had me on hold for the 10th time, I found this same exact router on amazon for $75 with free shipping... great, I not only got something I didn't order, I got ripped off too. I will not be doing business with this company ever again. Horrible experience, horrible customer service. order number: 20XXX0349

Pros:
  • None
  • from my experience with them
  • Cons:
  • employee knowledge of products
  • long wait times on the phone
  • customer service

From a consultant technician doing work for iYogi

    order number 1158748168

I am one of those technicians that went through the "...rigorous recruitment process,..." to do work for iYogi. The truth is, I registered on a call management website and iYogi was recruiting through this site. It was not rigorous, I listed my qualifications and there was not any verification.

The reason for this post is for non-payment of my services to one of their clients. Client had a computer that iYogi listed as No Boot/Black Screen. I arrive on site on time and upon booting up the computer, it loaded completely to the Windows 7 64bit desktop. I reviewed event viewer and no critical errors where listed. About 5 minutes into examining windows 7 the screen went blank and displayed no signal detected. I booted the pc on my ERD usb drive, 5 minutes into browsing windows 7, again the display went black and it displayed no signal detected. In both instances the computer stayed powered up, hard drive activity light was intermittently flashing, as was the network link/data lights. While in this state, I attached a different display and it did not detect a signal. This lead me to examine the video card. I removed card from pc, inspect for damage (none), cleaned all dust and re-installed. While cover was still off pc I powered it up and observed video card fan spinning. I allowed pc to boot into windows, went to the computer's manufacturer website to download system board BIOS and chipset updates. Installed, rebooted pc and while at desktop waiting to see if the symptom returns I was asked some questions by the customer about their printer. The customer said he could not increase the print DPI any higher than 720 dpi. He went to explain that the capabilities of the printer should exceed that DPI. I looked at all the settings and nothing allowed a manual adjustment. I explained that more research would be needed and offered web sites/search engines to research. He reported to me that he was told by iYogi The tech would resolve all your issues. I explain to him and showed him my work order that I was sent to do just hardware repair and I was sure that iYogi was referring to the hardware issues. The customer told me to fix the printer issue or he would not sign my work order as completed. I excused myself from the customers home and called iYogi. They said yes, I am expected to resolve all the customers requests. I pointed out that I was sent for hardware and any thing else would be out of scope. He agreed it was out of scope but that I should return to customers home and resolve all the customers issues. The work order was set at a flat rate of $80 for a Saturday service and I had already been on site for 3 hours. I was not offered an increase of fee. I said, No that is out of scope and I have been on site for 3 hours. I was then told that You only had to drive 7 miles from your home, close the work order and you will be paid $25. I returned to the customer's home to pick up my bags and the customer was waiting at the door with my bags telling me we were done and closed the door.

Had a problem with computer associates virus and spyware which was provided through my ISP. Unknowingly when I had a problem was directed to I Yogi, who advised they were servicing above problems through C.A. Could not solve problem and I foolishy agreed to a 2 year contract. Spent the next several days with them attempting to correct. No success. Request refund. No luck. My computer' hard drive had to be replaced by computer manufacturer. Still seeking some redress.Called C.A. re: matter with this and was assigned an issue # 19668820-1. On Sept 13 they sent mail requesting feed back on my satisfaction. Have sent them several replies with no answer. Bay Shore NY 11706 original order or acct# assigned or order number 6111462679

    Very Dissapointed Incompetent

I am not an employee of IYogi, I would highly suggest you not use this company. They are incompetent of fixing anything, only made things worse. They are very professional but extremely pushy and take your money and then wont refund for 7-10 days. I have spent at total of 12 hours on the phone with them them trying to resolve my pc issues and they only made it worse with what they done. I had a friend come the is a tech and it took only 15 minutes to resolve the issue when they could not. They are PUSHY to say the least. This is a very poor pc TECH Service.....Do NOT waste your time they are full of BS and don't stop. Please take this review and listen bc if not you will waste money and time. Order number 201207097063742. Please unless you want to be vulnerable to these people in India, Don't use them. They could not fix a scrambled egg. So I could tell you more of this Horrific experience but beware it is a SCAM.

    Pros:
  • they have patience and courteous
  • Cons:
  • cant fix an egg and are a pain bc of all their bs.

iYogi has been my tech service for about 3 years. I call on them about 3 times per year and they have always fixed my problems. I love that they can take control of my mouse and do the repairs themselves. The Indians may be difficult to understand when speaking but in writing, their grammar and spelling is excellent and with the remote control, language is not a problem.

I was treated with respect even though I could not understand some of their instructions but they worked around it. The price seemed a little steep but if you divide it out it seems excepable. I like that I have support at any time and they did resolve my issues and my computer is performing great! Thanks iyogi

I have a fairly thorough understanding of computers, and what to do if they don't function properly. I was having this horrible issue for about two weeks, trying to install a range expander so I could increase my landlord's router range. The problem was, she had a netgear router and I had a linksys expander. I finally gave up, and told my boyfriend to deal with it. He doesn't know that much about computers, and called whom he thought was netgear.

He actually reached this company called iyogi and spoke to a woman named Savi. She immediately took control of the situation, and walked him through the process. This took about 4 hours however, she was very patient with him and also took control of the computer. She had everything working just fine, and then installed the iyogi support dock on my laptop. She assured him that everything was fixed, then they ended the call.

The next morning, we recieved a phone call from Savi, wanting to check back to make sure everything worked fine. That was when she pitched the year of support for $119.00. She was not too pushy, and I feel that was an appropriate time to pitch the service.

I was highly impressed by the service, and the effectiveness of her work.

I was stuck with a nasty virus infection and was very nervous. Tried to look for a support service in the middle of the night. I came across a few services and chose iYogi because it was very competitively priced. The technician gave me my peace of mind and helped me kick off all viruses on my PC. I recommend iYogi if you are looking for good Computer support.

By trying to reach Microsoft (I was having trouble with windows 7) I stumbled onto iYogi. At that point I was so desperate, since I had had trouble with my new computer for over a month that I did not care, who helped me. I agreed to pay the amount they asked for their help, although it seemed a little high. I still kept on having trouble, though, with my new PC until my husband had enough of my stressing out and bought me a Mac. So no more problems and I did not need iYogi's help anymore. They were very nice about my backing out of the contract and credited me the full amount back. They could not have been any nicer - they were very polite and I can really recommend them.

Well I agree the Indian accent might pisses me off. But the agents are well equipped and well trained than any other Online support Cos. Guys will hear you off patiently, they probe you so that they can find the exact cause of the issue, and then they will work on your issue even if it takes them to sit for extra hours after the shift. I encountered an issue and the agent was so helpul and courteous, he troubleshooted my PC for atleast 10 hours for the issue which even Microsoft couldnt seem to resolve after paying them $60. You guys have every opinion to write things about a company which is in the third world but the truth is that it is the country on which all of us are directly or indirectly rely on for our software needs. They are the brainiest bunch off people working for meagre $140 for 1 whole year.

    Cheers iYogi !!!

I have had a subscription to iyogi since 11/2009.I have called several times for help and experienced knowledgable technicians. Today I contacted a virus and my Antivirus software locked up. (#1 rated-Bit Defender) I had 25,000 infected files. I called iyogi and my computer was exercised and is operating fine. After I subscribed, I too googled for reviews and noticed all the bad reviews. I have had iyogi resolved about 5 issues without complaint. I can only say that I have no complaints and have no reservations about renewing my subscription when it comes time. Thanks iyogi. Job well done !!!

Very interesting comments; from racists against Indian dialects to highly advanced computer experts. I'm simply the computer user who's computer was infected with a problem. You know, the guy who doesn't have the time nor the desire to spend hours searching and waiting for someone out there in "Google-Land" to come to my rescue, and yes, I've dealt with the support offered by the big guys; it has indeed been a poor return on investment! For the record, I'm not interested in becoming a computer technical expert. I simply want to use the darn thing!

I reached out for help from McAfee and Norton support and found this outfit called Iyogi. They diagnosed and fixed the problem and actually taught me a few things in the process. I recently had another problem which required help; reached out for Iyogi;; PROBLEM SOLVED! Perhaps I'm atypical when it comes to computer issues but I'd gladly pay $139.00 a year ($11.60/Per month) for one-stop 24hour computer technical support and yes, I'll accept it from where ever in the World it comes. Thanks Guys!

I was at my wits' end with program and computer issues, told by Microsoft I needed to upgrade to latest OS, but that not supported by my various programs for work. In 3.5 hours, without my computer leaving my desk, my issues were identified, addressed, and resolved - with a warranty for the next 3 years! A friend took her computer to the geeks at a local store and 3 weeks later, with lots of extra charges, got hers back, with no warranty. I think I got the better deal! I did not have to wait for service more than 30 minutes, though one issue did require a second "tweek." I am thrilled with the service.

    Total rip off

    Order Number 645276696900

I called this group thinking they were Dell service because of a misleading add that came up on google. It was only after paying and them trying to correct my issues did they reveal the actual company. The entire time they portrayed themselves as Dell Service. In the end, they were no help and I was billed for their service. A local company helped me recover data and I bought a MacBook Pro to replace the Dell. I did not try to recover my money but they have tried to renew the service no less then eleven times without authorization. They call ten to fifteen times a month. I have told the callers that I will only do business with an American company, preferable a local one and they get quite arrogant. I have received as many as a dozens of harassing calls from some of the callers, when I complain they say there is nothing I can do to stop them. I have asked repeatedly to be taken off their call list to no avail. Do not under any circumstances do business with this company. They are a fraud from a foreign company stealing from many unsuspecting people!!!

    Pros:
  • None
  • they were no help
  • Cons:
  • Misrepresent themselves
  • actively attempt unauthorized renewals
  • continue unsolicited calls
  • harassing callers.

iYogi service is HORRIBLE AND MOST DISHONEST: FRAUDULENT!

I filed a complaint with the FTC and its last five digits are 784 70. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of New York. It relates to Order Number U454 and Customer ID TL801003 for one time fee service performed on Friday, September 28, 2012 and charged to Visa card ending in 37 9782 WHICH WAS IN FACT A FRAUDULENT CHARGE. I REPEAT: A FRAUDULENT CHARGE!

iYogi service stinks and its personnel is very dishonest: wrong diagnosis (allegedly my OS was corrupted), second technician instead changed browser settings, tried to remove Norton Security Suite while installing the free SuperAntiSpyware and then told me that problem had been fixed.

The problem was that PC was taking over one hour to shutdown and Microsoft Office programs were not working, and I therefore told him to so verify by shutting the system down and running Word, He refused. I ran Word and it still did not work.

Representative (Adam from India) insisted he would leave but agreed to refund me, but it has been like pulling teeth. I am still waiting for the refund.

Initially I thought that I had contacted Dell Support and iYogi personnel (Shariff) misled me into believing that it was Dell Technical Support. At the very end, appalled at the dishonesty and ineptitude of Adam, I asked him in different ways if he was with Dell Corporation Technical Support, he tried to skirt the issue but ultimately he confessed that he was NOT with Dell Corporation but with iYogi, an independent service contractor.

Adam told me that my Norton Security Suite was free of charge, he tried to remove it and he downloaded and installed SuperAntiSpyware (with which iYogi may have a financial arrangement). Adam disabled Norton AntiVirus and the Norton Firewall and he told me that we would check the system on Monday, AND I THEN FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS CLAIMING THAT HIS WORK WAS COMPLETED AND THAT HE WAS LOGGING OUT. I TOLD HIM NOT SO FAST, AND THAT HE NEEDED TO CHECK THAT THE SHUTDOWN AND START UP PROBLEMS, AND THE PROBLEM WITH THE MICROSOFT PROGRAMS THAT HAD NOT BEEN RUNNING NEEDED TO BE VERIFIED AS HAVING BEEN RESOLVED. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY PC HAD BEEN THE BROWSERS AND THAT HE HAD FIXED THEM. BALONEY! HE REMOVED COOKIES, TEMPORARY FILES, CHANGED SETTING (including some which I changed back, such as his limiting me to opening just one window and then tabs only from there on). TRUTHFULLY, I BELIEVE THAT MANY INDIANS ARE RACIST TOWARDS HISPANICS AT LEAST IN THE UNITED STATES, AND THAT THEREIN LIES THE EXPLANATION FOR THE EXTENSIVE ABUSE BY THESE FOOLS!

Adam installed SUPERAntiSpyware in my PC on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:27:33 PM, as its property file so reflects, and note that when at the end I accused him of acting deceitfully in having tried to remove Norton Security Suite, having disabled its AntiVirus and its Firewall, and installing that new program - SUPERAntiSpyware, Adam then deleted its icon from the desktop (bottom left hand side of the desktop) but left it still installed as it was reflected in the control panel.

I complained to iYogi about it and I told some of its representatives about his removal of the icon when I pressed him but leaving the program in fact still installed. Apparently someone from iYogi UNLAWFULLY accessed my system since because SUPERAntiSpyware is no longer installed and the only items left appear to be its folder under the Programs Files folder and an archive report from 8:17:30 PM of September 28, 2012.

Adam destroyed an external hard drive of mine as it turned out since I could not use it after he got through with my system and it cannot even be formatted now. I AM EAGER TO SHIP IT TO IYOGI IN NEW YORK CITY AS SOON AS IT RESPONDS AND ARRANGES SO.

After my terrible experience with iYogi, I then did contact Dell Support which provided service UNDER WARRANTY and consequently at no additional charge. I informed Dell Technical Support about my experience with iYogi and I will be contacting the Dell Corporate office to also so inform Dell upper management.

At some point, the first iYogi representative tried to saddle me with a three-year technical support contract.

iYogi works in conjunction with TechYogi, U-Bill.com, and UPClick to defraud consumers.

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND IYOGI.

    Pros:
  • There are zero pros.

I gave iYogi a ONE rating because I found no way to enter -TEN
  • except here.

I will not upload a photo of myself and I do not use an avatar but if you email me
  • I will give you my phone number so you may call me and verify who I am by reading back to me the partial number of my complaint # to the FTC.
  • Cons:
  • - Dishonest self-representation as Dell Corporation - verbally. I was calling Dell about warranted work that Dell completed free of charge after these bozos screwed up and charge me.
    - Billing and collection issues: DISHONEST THROUGH AND THROUGH.
    - Contract issues: there was no valid contract because iYogi misrepresented itself as Dell.
    - Technical Support issues: Shariff told me that the OS was corrupted and needed to be re-installed and that Technician would give me a restore version upon completion on a USB drive of mine. Neither took place. Technician did as narrated in complaint.
    - Customer Service issues: in trying to get the refund that Adam told me I would get. CS systematically plays tricks.
    - OTHER ISSUES.

    iyogi nightmare

iyogi is awful, awful, awful. They never took the time to find out what was wrong with my computer before sending a technician, and once the technician arrived he said there was nothing he could do, so my service fee was for nothing. The technician was also rude, and while putting my computer back together he left several screws and pieces out. He also littered cigarette butts all over my lawn. Never, never use iyogi. Order number: 61142XXXXX

    Pros:
  • They answered the phone and called to check up on their technician.
  • Cons:
  • No diagnosis of my computer problem over the phone
    Rude technician
Technician didn't put my computer back together
    Entire situation was a nightmare
  • poorly explained to me
  • poorly handled and much more expensive than it was worth.

FYI - On January 10, 2011 I solicited the help of CA Technology Support because my Brand New Computer configured with Microsoft Windows 7 appeared to be slow. The technician, Kamana Mittal "found" a bunch of "error" files and folders, which she said were causing the problem. She said that I had to download and purchase iYogi for $169.99, order number 6111834174, to fix the problem. She had another technician, who was "authorized" to remove them, delete them from my computer. As a result my computer crashed and was inoperable. I had to do a complete System Recovery to undo the damage. For your information, those "error" files and folders are ESSENTIAL TO THE RUNNING OF MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7. They are leftovers from earlier Microsoft operating systems that Microsoft incorporated into Windows 7. THEY MUST NOT BE DELETED. As a result of CA's and/or iYogis incompetence, I have severed all ties with CA Technologies and iYogi. I am still waiting for the refund that I requested over 2 weeks ago. iYogi is a scam

If only Id found iYogi a week before Id have saved some bucks on visiting techs. Very single minded sales team though but since the techs know what theyre doing I guess thats ok.

I couldnt understand why my computer kept rebooting itself. I asked for help and didresearch n stumbled upon iYogi, chanced a call and I was asked to purchase the annual subscription. I didnt think that I needed an Annual subscription for this but then the sales rep explained what was wrong with my computer and what all they could help me with throughout the year. I was skeptical but now Im a believer. Ive gone back to them four times already.

PC Security Shield cust svc uses iYogi as 3rd party tech support. Therefore it was free for me. They fixed my problems after my anti-virus install, were polite, competent. They tried to sell me a year's subscription (I said no) but they were polite about it. I lost phone connection with them 3 times (?not sure why?) but they called me back right away. I was impressed and am surprised at all the negative reviews. I wonder if ALL of these are true or if some are flames from competing techs. I am concerned but I really don't know what to believe now. I hope people will keep the discussion civil.

I had 126 virus threats and didn't renew or have a virus protection. I purchased one, and when I called to get the virus downloaded, I did not know I had contacted Iyogi. So I did not know what it was and was a little concerned. You know how there are so many scams going on, and you don't know what company or who you can trust, well the initial Iyogi rep, Jaspreet (first name) was really patient with me. I appreciate that he allowed me time to stress my fears and concerns but he reassured me they are an upfront company. I had good help with getting my computer fixed. They installed the virus protection, removed all of the viruses and handled a few other maintenance issues at the same time. I feel good about my computer being fixed now and I like the idea of their being able to remote in to fix the computer verses talking/walking me through something I don't understand. All the reps were professional and helpful. Thank you Iyogi.

Awful. I have been waiting for over an hour as I write this review for a tecnician to get back to me. This is the second time this has happened when I called for assistance. The first time I had to leave and when I checked my messages they never had called. I would not given them any stars if I had the option. The two stars were hi-lighted and I could not change them.

I am not an employee of IYogi, first of all. I have used them twice to good results. Once I had a conflict between software I installed and they helped me resolve the problem. The second time (today) I had encountered a virus online that disabled my Virus protection software and they were able to get me up and running. Being a complete computer novice, I don't know if there are better or cheaper services out there. I do know that they have been well worth the $139.95 I paid for a one year membership. They also have helped me optimize my computer and it is certainly facster and more stable. I am a happy IYogi customer.

    Good Service!

"I was having issue with my Dell laptop. I tried out many DIY solutions but after every two days my laptop was showing the same error. Then I finally decided to take help of any tech support company. I googled and the first name that came up was iyogi.

The customer service rep was very patient and efficient while assisting me. He diagnosed the issue and fixed it. I have saved their number and I will always contact them for any kind of technical assistance."

    Expert Staff

Initially, I was doing installations and set ups on my own. But suddenly my system froze and I was not able to fix the issue. I called iyogi for help but was on hold for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes wait I was transferred to a tech who was hard to understand. But he did fixed the issue in first attempt.

Now I never try to fix technical issues on my own, as I know I have experts to get it fixed. I just give them a call and get it fixed.

Order Number 611560** MacTuneUP & 3yr Software support

Order Number 61156018** Very nice people but product did not perform as expected. Cost of "software support" was way way to high. Added another product to buy so that support could be "enhanced". Bottom line was that the scan and optimization never did complete itself.

***It appears you are talking to AppleCare support but you are not. Again nice people but overpriced and product did not perform as expected. Transferred me two time "UP" the chain to sell me more product. Be very careful and be forewarned that you may not get what you expect from iYogi. Positive is that all money was refunded when requested.

Bought: 3yr unlimited software Support for 3 computers,MacTuneUp

    Order Date: 2014-02-05

    Date Received: 2014-02-05

    Pros:
  • Nice friendly people trying to help you.
  • Cons:
  • Somehow it appeared that they were APPLE.com
  • Prices were exorbitant
  • MacTuneUp did not ever complete the scan

    iYogi Bad Tactics

From Dawn Harrison, Dayton, Ohio order number - none; I did not buy their services. Nightmare story. I had to buy a new phone and needed my gmail in order to keep a paid application I need for work. I couldn't access it and called the gmail support number from Google's site. I get iYogi. The tech tells me he can access it from my laptop and continues to do so. He then tells me about problems with my laptop. This isn't what I called about. He tells me he can't help me with my gmail problem and then tries to sell me a $179.99 service. I don't need it. Never had a single problem with the laptop in 3 yrs. After talking to him, I start having problems with my computer. I call them and they tell me it's a "coincidence" that I suddenly have a problem, and tell me they could help me if I buy their services. EXTORTION! I explain that they did it, and I know they did it. I'm then told by a 'supervisor', that they would NEVER do anything like that, tried to tell me they are above reproach and talked to me like I was stupid. Now I can't uninstall their support dock or do much of anything on the computer. Some bogus antivirus company, (that iYogi insists just happened to pop up after talking to them and the tech is the only one ever to have access to my computer but me) keeps popping up wanting me to purchase their services, how convenient. I am calling the BBB and anyone else that will listen. Get the word out people that they will extort, lie, and talk in nonsensical circles, all the while trying to sell you services you didn't need until they embed a problem! Coincidence? Sure, if I was born yesterday, and I didn't read similar complaints about this company! Dawn Harrison Dayton, Ohio

Scammed -- Laptop don't work after they took control of

    order number 22200003399

My computer does not work after having one of your tech support people take control of my laptop and its because I wouldn't buy their one year of support and allow him to fix my computer!! I called three different tech support numbers tonight to get help with my Netgear N150 that was not working for wireless. It was brand new. The third phone number I tried, 866-332-4256 got me my third barely speaking tech assistant. Said he was from northern India...to try and fix my wifi. He took control of my laptop, looked around a little and then told me I had too many files and folders on the computer, and several other problems and he wanted to fix that, before he could fix the wifi. To do this, he tried to sell me one year of tech support and if I paid him, he could fix my wifi. He said my internal network was not finding a IP address and it was because of my computer. I have never, ever been sooo shocked in my life and he argued with me for 20 minutes trying to convince me why I needed to buy their service. I finally hung up, click out of his IYogi app that he used to take control of my computer and then my friend got the wifi to work almost immediately on her computer. Now...my laptop started putting in numbers when I hit alfa letters. I just tried to reboot and now my computer WILL NOT START!! Who are these tech support people trying to sell me services, and what did they do to my laptop when they had control of it?? Because now, 20 minutes later...it is NOT WORKING!! I am using my friends laptop on the new Netgear to write this to you...and her wifi access works fine after 2 hours on the phone with your tech support people. I want someone to call me, email or fly here to Grand Ledge, Michigan and fix my computer!!!! This is absolutely the worse night of my life trying to get your Netgear to work...when, now there appears there nothing wrong!! My Netgear wifi works fine now, but my computer will not turn on and I watched it slowly get worse after disconnecting from your arguing tech support person!! This router is going back to the store and I will never buy anything Netgear again and I will also let all my friends and family know too, as well everyone on FaceBook!! Grrrrrrrrr!

iyogi is the best computer service available in the market.

I'm not a computer expert by any stretch. iyogi helped me with a PC screen freeze for $169.99. (order number 6111834174) They also did a PC tune up, eliminated service and start up programs I did not use. My PC boots much faster. I think it's worth it. and the service is available 24x7 and i can use their services for next whole year. i guess its the best computer service available in the market.
