I have been a customer for about 4 o5 years now and I love Credo. They use the Sprint towers and since I switched over from Sprint, I haven't seen a difference. The only complaint I have is that their plans are a little pricey, but I like the new method they are using where you can choose how much data you need a month. I will not likely ever go back to a mainstream phone company unless someone else is paying my bill.

We fell for their BS....
We switched from AT&T to Credo 2 years ago (5 phones). They were offering decent deals and I liked the idea of donating to progressive causes. The first issue is coverage on the Sprint network. Voice coverage is weak and data is very slow almost everywhere. The next issue is that you can only use their phones. If you lose or destroy your phone, you can't buy an unlocked phone and add their sim card, it has to be their phone. If you want to travel overseas, they offer virtually nothing in the way of a reasonably priced international plan.
The contracts on all 5 phones expire either 12/24 or 12/26. We are going to be out o the country when the contracts expire, so I ported 4 of the lines over to AT&T this weekend (within the last month of the contract) and called today to cancel the 5th line (which hasn't been used since Aug). They are charging me $475 ETF ($95 per line) when the last months bill would have been $270 (which I have no problem with paying). We don't want to pay another month on the 5th line after the contract expires, but the only option is to call the day the contract expires. I told the customer service supervisor that that wasn't possible and she said too bad. They can't schedule a cancellation.
They may spout progressive rhetoric, but they are a totally inflexible company and the apparent savings are an illusion.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This is my second time with Credo. Like a lot of people have said I completely agree with the politics, but service sucks. I have been on the phone with tech support 7 times in the last 2 days. They can't resolve my coverage problem in my home. I live in the middle of SF. They tell me my coverage should be excellent. I have the iphone6. Dropped calls, text msgs that don't go through, garbled speech. They sent me the Airave signal booster. When it works (so far about 50% of the time) the call is good. Customer service cannot resolve the problem and if I cancel they will charge me early termination, etc. They keep saying they want to work with me and are very friendly on the phone, but in the meantime I have the worst connectivity ever from my home.

just got a new phone (rumor reflex) from them. has taken over a week to try and activate. their customer service are staffed by totally ignorant people who have no idea what is going on. Never work with this company. while i signed up because of their progressive views - its much better to go with a company that works and give out money yourself to causes that you support.

I initially could not speak enough good about this company. A nuise was removed as i left 18 years with Sprint and their horrid, abusive, blood pressure rising antics. ALL Credo agents were so kind, and I'm giving money to causes i support and not the people tearing down our country. Well that ended when i traveled internationally. Now I have been told multiple different things, even been told things i said but never said if you know what i mean, but i traveled to St.Maarten in April, spoke with Credo before the trip and advice given, just use hotel wifi and no issue with data charges. Trip went fine and no extra charges. With this experience in mind why would i be concerned that Mexico would be any different? and i still don't know what exactly is going on because now ALL Credo agents have gone sour on me, clearly once they find a way to slap you with a large charge, and then you argue it, your out of the club. Attitudes across the board have changed and now the Grand Pubahs have stated i must pay over $600 for data charges i miraculously incurred while following their advice to just stay connected to the hotel wifi. I might even agree to pay if someone gave two shits and would talk to me about it and care, where did all the caring go from the beginning. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE EXPLOITING OUR POLITICAL VIEWS FOR THEIR GAIN AND WE KNOW WHAT PARTY THAT SOUNDS THAT!

The best customer service I've ever experienced, and I've been with other large providers. I got a great deal on an HTC One. Works perfectly. Sometimes coverage not as good, and sometimes connection quality is not as good, but it's worth it for the good pricing and super customer service!

If Credo is trying to keep it's customer base down then they are doing a great job. Tried to sign up. Took me 2 hours and 3 tries to get my order through. Then all I got was a message that said my order was referred. Then got an email that they couldn't take me and were sending me A LETTER!? How 1995 of them. They couldn't email me or "call" me you know, like on a TELEPHONE? Irony of ironies. And let me solve whatever insurmountable little problem there was. Complete and utter incompetence compound by a We don't give a s#!t attitude. STAY AWAY FROM THESE IMBECILES!!

After dealing with Verizon and Sprint, Credo is a welcome change. The reps always help me, quickly and politely, and they've been really reasonable, often offering to drop a fee or credit me for something without my having to ask. For example, I was paying for a family plan for my brother and myself. When he died, unexpectedly, they let me out of the contract for one of the lines without making me show a death certificate, even though both lines were in my name, and they even let me keep the extra minutes per month that he'd gotten when he renewed (since he didn't need a new phone last year). No other transaction that I had to make regarding him went as smoothly, and they were sympathetic and professional as I sniffled through the transaction.
My only complaint is that my new phone has a terrible battery life and a lot of annoying features and I am stuck with it-- not sure if they have the greatest selection of phones when you upgrade. But the coverage, plans, pricing, and service are all great, so next time I upgrade I won't wait until last minute and will research the reviews of the phones I'm choosing from better. I prefer Credo to the other major companies I've worked with, and that's in addition to liking their values and support of progressive companies.

I was surprised to see a few less than perfect reviews of this company, since I've been with Credo for years and absolutely love this company. In fact, I just added another line--my first with a data plan-- and was pleased to find that they have the most economical data plan in the industry, considering that when they say "unlimited," they really mean it. I've never had to wade through an automated menu, always get to talk to a knowledgeable person, and the reps never make customers feel like a number. Also love what this company stands for. Never a problem, and I don't expect to have one in the future. Great track record!

I switched my family to CREDO and am so glad that I did. Their customer service is fantastic! Our switch over from Verizon was seamless. We finally invested in smart phones and are delighted with them. We went with CREDO's Samsung Transform Ultra. Great phone! Sounds great and the phone is so intuitive. We haven't had a problem with dropped calls, etc, but will admit that Sprint's signal strength isn't great - but still much better than what we had with Verizon. Our home was a dead zone before we switched to CREDO. We had to buy Verizon's network extender just to be able to make and receive calls. No such problems with CREDO. FINALLY a phone company whose service is great and we can feel good about. PS - I haven't experienced anything close to what I've read in all these neg comments, but I guess everyone's experience is different.

While CREDO does promote progressive causes, their monthly service rates are just way too high. My bill jumped $22 per month to $90 after one year for basic (no data or messaging) phone service on 2 basic phones. Verizon charges $60 for the same thing and I got better coverage. I cannot use my CREDO phones at home because there is no service in my area--not even roaming. With Verizon, I got 4 bars signal strength.
Yes, I know Verizon is an evil company, but at least their phones worked at my home AND they charged me $30 less per month for the same type of plan. I will switch back to Verizon after my CREDO contract expires and donate the $30 difference to the progressive causes I choose instead.

I really like this company. The rates and service are pretty much comparable to other companies; however the fact that they are honest very upfront about supporting progressive causes is extremely refreshing. You even get to vote on which causes you find most important.
Most large companies (like AT&T) provide vast funding to conservative causes yet say nothing about it. I find no problem with supporting a conservative cause that someone believes in, but by purposely not informing the public (or making information difficult to find) about what causes they are supporting, large companies (like AT&A) avoid accountability to their customers and also perpetuate back-door lobbying of interest groups which are simply not acting in the public good.
Credo Mobile has shown an enormous amount of accountability by being so upfront about what their profits are going toward. Thatís the kind of company that I want to do business with.

Would love o think my 1% is doing some good but frankly I wouldn't trust them to get that right either. Pity. It's a great idea.

I've been with CREDO for over 10 yrs and never have had any problems. Sprint has good service too. It's easy to take care of billing an payments online and use auto pay, which I do. They have good prices on their plans too. I'm looking for a phone upgrade from Samsung to iPhone and finding a decent selection online. I've gone to a CREDO store in the past to upgrade and they were very helpful and patient. Not a lot of stores though. New customers get a better deal on new phones, unless you want to sign a 2 yr contract, which for me isn't a problem. I won't be switching to anyone else. I love their progressive causes and the fact that I can donate to them monthly without paying anything. My phone bill isn't any higher to cover this. I get a reminder to vote for 1,2 or 3 causes each month via email too. I love this company!

I waited 48 hours for a number to port out from Credo. They had no record that anyone had even requested it. They finally found the request and because the address said Street and not St, it was denied although they never told me. Customer service only apologized. That was it. No real customer service. Go elsewhere.

Went to cancel service.......called day before, and was told if I cancelled then, I would pay a penalty......so called Sept. 1, already paid extra on bill the month before, so I would not get a bill.....I was told, I would pay that bill in full......they turned off phone Sept 1....and still billed me for that month and the next......told me I had to ask for a refund...if there was a credit .it would be on the bill........I do not have the service........VERY RUDE PEOPLE...I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND 80 YEARS OLD........NEED EVERY DIME......Sorry I ever had the Credo service...........had it for about 10 years and this is the way they treat people........STAY AWAY FROM CREDO!!!!!!!!4318 WV Highway 18, Troy, WV 26443

I have been consistently overcharged by Credo. The month that my bill was $240 was the month it was supposed to be $110. The month that my bill was supposed to be $30--the bill was over $80.00
And I don't have a smart phone. I have made precisely one 1 minute phone call yet their "records" show me gabbing on the phone constantly. There is no way! They keep talking about "routine pro-rated charges" they are making yet will not disclose precisely what these 'pro-rated charges" are nor for how long they will last.
I am getting out as soon as I can.
Kona, the least costly and least sophisticated phone on the market, costs me much more than the people I know with smart phones.

Ever since we switched to Credo Mobile our service has been unacceptable. We have sporadic dropped and choppy calls. Because it has been more than a month that we have been calling them and trying this and that it is too late to get out of the contract and we will owe them $300 per phone to get out of their service. Does this seem right to you?

I have been a customer of credo mobile for a decade.I began with them because I shared their progressive values. Initially in the first few years it seemed a bit more expensive. However, in the past two to three years they have become extremely sophisticated and streamlined. I love their service. The product is wonderful. The price is good. I have 4 phones with them. They give me excellent service, are very attentive with any questions or concerns I have. I cannot say enough good about my service from them and seem to be getting better and better. Head and shoulders above verizon. And I still share the progressive values that they have.

I've been a Credo customer since they were WorkingAssets and I've had outstanding customer service, good prices, and I get to support an ethical corporation. One time my niece over-texted me at $168, and Credo gave me a credit toward a service upgrade instead of just a one-time charge...I needed the upgrade anyway, but they did it without my even asking for a break.
I just signed up for Ethical Electric, as well, so I have all wind-sourced power at my house.

After being an eight year customer, I started having one out of every three calls dropped--yes, a true third..updates, new battery, new phone --no fix; then the decree from management that I had to document three dropped calls in a 24 hour period before they would send a tech to the cell tower. I honor contract as deals from both parties. Credo did not honor its ability to provide excellent cell and customer service. I said I was not paying my buy out and to drop me. They said they would turn me into a credit recovery agency. I went to buy a new phone online as mine had accidentally gotten wet and I needed a new one. I just use the basic flip phone, nothing fancy, and when I checked to see how much it would cost, I thought I would also pay my bill online. I generally pay from my checking account, but this time I decided to pay directly from their website. Could not get a phone online as the website was not letting me, so I made a payment and then a few days later, I noticed that it said that I still owed money. I was unsuccessful in getting a phone online, so I spoke to a rep and picked out a cheapie phone. I asked her to put the cost onto my bill, and she said they couldn't do that "because the computers were down." So I called back the next day. When I called back, I noticed that I still owed money on my bill. I spoke to a sales rep, and again asked to have the cost of the new phone put onto my bill. Again I was told 'our computers are down, you'll need to use a credit card." I was pissed at this point, because it was right after Christmas and my credit card bills were high enough, and as I've been a good customer and pay my bills on time I felt this was rather inconvenient.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for ten minutes. The supervisor who spoke to me sounded like she was about 22 and would not tell me why she could not add the phone cost to my bill. I got aggravated and hung up. I thought maybe I had entered an incorrect amount last time I paid, or maybe they would not let me put the cost of the phone on my bill because I still owed them money, and as I didn't have the paper bill in front of me, I made another online payment. A couple of days later I see that the website says I STILL owe money. So I call them. I was told that the billing section of their website was under construction (of course, there was nothing on the page that even mentioned that) and had been for a couple of weeks. I asked what my balance was. They cheerfully told me that I owed them no money, in fact, I had a credit of over $300...due to the fact that I had overpaid these asshats because their stupid website was giving me incorrect billing information.
I went off. I spoke to a supervisor, some tree-hugger named Kenny, who tried to tell me, "hey, at least you wont have to pay your bill for a few months." I told Kenny that I wasn't feeling that, I like my cash flow to be where I want it to be, and I expected them to write me a check, and pronto, not in "a couple of weeks," like he originally tried to tell me, but immediately, or I would take them to court. Surprisingly, Kenny sent me the check for the full amount and I received it the next week. I noticed the envelope had never been sealed...so they send me a check for $300 and change in an envelope wherein it could have easily been lost in the mail. The stupid factor continues. I tried to cancel my account, but unfortunately I had just upgraded my sons phone and in the process was conned into another two year contract. I informed Kenny and his pals that the reason I chose Credo was because I would rather die than give another dime to that fascist, tea-party supporting conglomerate a/k/a AT&T, but being that they were in competition with AT&T they might want to tighten up their service and do something wacky like keeping their website accurate and up-to-date, and if it was being upgraded, put up some sort of notice so people are aware that their information is temporarily inaccessible, as opposed to just blowing it off and letting people read incorrect information. I was cool because I got the check and it didn't bounce, but I just got my bill for this month and it tells me that I owed $128 last month, which I paid, but there is a mysterious "balance forward" of $450...time to give old Kenny a call, and maybe swallow my pride and crawl back to AT&T.
I don't know who their technical engineers are or where they were educated, but this whole experience is making me thing that Credo does not have its collective sh*t together in any sense of the word. It's a disaster.

I wish to add my partner to CREDO service under the Family Plan and asked the representative how to add him with an existing (older) Credo phone and how much that would be for the same plan I presently have. Seems as if adding someone to an existing plan with exactly what I have now is not something that they do. I need to reflect and then try to get this worked out.

Only reason I dont give 5 stars was coverage issues while traveling. But may have had these with any smart phone. I have Samsung Conquer(free). Only problem is faulty headphone jack. Probably not Credo's fault but they said they will work on a warranty replacement.I haven't pursued that yet.
My interactions with reps on phone has been nothing but pleasant. They are always helpful, friendly, polite and patient. This is rare these days. They have been helpful also rare.
Price is competitive and suites my(our) needs. I have four lines so far.

We have had four (for a while five) Credo phones for about five years. We have had very few problems, and those were all solved in reasonable times. We changed the plan to get more minutes in the months leading up to the Nov. 6 2012 elections since I was making a lot of campaign calls, then we made an easy switch back. The only ongoing problem we have had (and the only reason I didn't give the fifth star) is Sprint's lousy coverage here in Silicon Valley.

I made the mistake of switching from Verizon to Credo this summer. The freebie phone they sent me (Samsung Transform) was pretty crappy; it dropped a lot of calls and had A LOT of glitchy issues. They sent me another Transform. Same issues. They sent an Air Rave unit, which is supposed to strengthen the signal and prevent dropped calls in the home. This helped somewhat, but I still get complaints from people that they can't hear me well, and the phone still drops calls on occasion.
OK. I give the CREDO tech support people a lot of credit, because we've spent HOURS trying to work through these issues. Unfortunately, I still can't use the phone without people complaining that they can't hear me. And the calls continue to get dropped when I'm in the house or out of it.
I've asked Credo to send me a different phone. After 4 months of frustration, hassle, and poor service (and not cheap service, I might add) is it too much to ask for a different model of phone? I rely on my phone for my business. Unfortunately CREDO is an unreliable carrier, and I'm going to have to pay an early termination fee to get out of this contract.
SCREWED. STEER CLEAR OF CREDO MOBILE.

After being with ATT with more than 7 years I decided give Credo a chance. I made sure that the person who signed me up gave me a comparable plan to the one I had. I WAS WRONG! I will end up paying almost 1400 for the first 3 months because I went over the minutes that the plan allowed. I NEVER had to worry about going over minutes with ATT. Although they were able to give me a small credit, I will end up paying a ridiculous amount of money. Do not switch!

Southern Calf service area, for over 10 years. Politically active, customer service folks have been super helpful: offering discounts and payment options when my finances were tough/difficult last year. Have no problem with phones or sprint service. Android Samsung Galaxy 2 and a couple messaging phones. Amazing how critical and unreasonable many people sound on product/service reviews lately?

I read some of the reviews and I can't believe that anybody would put down a company because they went over there minutes. DON'T YOU THINK THAT IS YOUR FAULT. The company is great and there is nothing to complain about great customer service, great donation groups, and I like there political views, as well. So quit blaming the company and look at yourself.

I have been a CREDO customer for a year and have never ever been so PLEASED with ANY service in my life- not just cellular - but ANY type of utility or communications company, and believe me, in my life I have pretty much had them ALL. It's so refreshing to know there is ONE company who is not willing to compromise ethics and integrity just to make a buck; they treat their customers like real HUMAN BEINGS- not just a pawn in the capitalism game. AND I love their stand on pro-environment issues and policy of making charitible contributions to worthy causes !!!

I spent 6 years with Credo/Working Assets and they ALWAYS let me talk to a person with little to no wait, the prices were fair, they worked with you if you had a question on your bill and were generally FANTASTIC. (I previously had T-Mobile and AT&T and WA blew them out of the water.) Also, they would provide long distance for my land line. I had to switch to a land line because I went rural (keeping the long distance), but am now finding their wireless coverage has expanded so I'm looking to sign up again. If you're a good person who takes care of your account then they'll take care of you. Go for it!

Long time customer and very pleased with service and customer relations. They're political activity as to alerts and education have been invaluable.
The bad news for me is that they continue to use BofA as a credit card provider which recently uped their interest to 35%. I'm not sure why this abuse is tolerated by a company that supports causes that aids change to the status quo in the political & social landscape.

Credo is a great mobile provider that supports worthy causes. I've been on Credo for almost a year now, and I'm very satisfied customer. Super responsive customer service, and great coverage although I reside in Los Angeles. I hear it might not work as well in the more rural area.

Credo provides great customer service, and they always thank you for using their service. They run on the Sprint network, so the service works pretty well. I know I feel good using Credo as my provider, as they give one percent of their profits to progressive causes.

They've always been incredibly helpful and even let me know when there are better, cheaper plans rather than trying to push me to spend more money. And as icing on the cake, I believe in their mission. I called hem specifically about sign-in, looking up issues with my au pair's usage, helping with insurance, helping with temporarily suspending a number on our family plan.

I have moved 3 phones to credo from verizon and have experienced nothing but good. I sent in my buyout billing as requested from verizon and got a little over 3 months credit immediately.
My signal is good to ok, but I have had sprint before and knew that going into this with Credo. Its a matter of exercising my power of where I spend my bucks and the signal is ok. It is the only way we the people will regain our position is to take care who we give support with our cash. Take Care all is well!
Oh and the bill is accurate in the amount I was quoted. I am happy after 15 years with Verizon, ALEC member and Verizon vs FCC, lost a good one!

The main advantage to Credo is that they are a progressive organization and that your membership goes toward helping progressive organizations. In terms of the phone service, it is clear as expected. However, in rural places you will often not get cell service. Cell service is good in the Washington, DC and the metro area. They don't offer the i-phone, but you do get Samsung.

I have been a CREDO customer for years. I have occasionally had a glitch with them. For a time, I think they were not up to snuff re: their customer service, but in the last year their customer service has gotten much better - and it has always been is far superior to what I know is the case with other phone companies. Also their products have improved and are excellent. Their prices are at least comparable.

Credo is a great company that actually cares about there customers. I was talking to a rep named lacey the other day and she really helped me. I was trying to find a number that I called back in may of 2010 and she actually helped me she spent atleast an hour on the phone of dedication. She didn't even get agravated, when she finally found the number it turned out the be in March when I called that number. I also like how they understand if I'm late on my bill and don't charge me late fees and will give up to 60 days to pay my bill without disconnecting my line. I use to be with AT&T and they would shut off my service if I was two weeks late and charge me a crazy amount for late fees, plus I hate there damn customer service. I love Credo and have been a member for many years, I will take up for this company against anyone.

I just switched to credo a few months ago. Credo's reception is fantastic, the customer service is amazing, and best of all you get some great opportunities to promote the environment and liberal causes. Don't expect Credo to have all the fun features other mobile provider has such as a million ringtone, games, wallpaper, etc.

I've been a Credo customer for 10 years when they were Working Assets. Signal reception is fantastic. Customer Service is excellent. There is an automated service, but its easy to get to live help too. The price is same cost as Sprint.

I hate paying any monthly bill, so no matter which one I have to pay, I don't particularly like doing it - I mean, how can you love your phone company? That's not a requirement, nor is it even reasonable. I know they are no worse than any other one. Some of these negative comments seem fake. Who buys something over and over if it is no good?

I think they are fine. It is cell phone service not rocket science. The people are hip and friendly and treat you with respect. The fact that they are ALSO politically/socially/environmentally conscious is just a big bonus. No problems with the service and due to the fact that they ALSO look to serve the community as well, I recommend them.
