Ridiculous "online ordering" process

Wanted to get NBA League Pass online at, placed the order ($42.50 a month for 4 months), then got an email asking to call them:

"Thank you so much for your interest in Time Warner Cable and for placing your order online. We need some additional information to complete your order.

Please call us at 855-889-4113. Make sure you have your online order confirmation number (012311102) ready when you call. We look forward to hearing from you so we can complete your order as soon as possible.

Thank you for choosing Time Warner Cable.

Okay.... Called them, provided answer to security question, then was asked to setup a PIN #. Huh? Never had to do that before. After literally 30 minutes total of talking to the rep and getting placed on hold, was told that the order went through. She said cable boxes may need to be unplugged to get the NBA League Pass channels. What a joke of an online ordering process. If I knew it was going to be such a pain I would have just called them up and ordered via phone instead.

Late Payment Fee After Updating Recurring Payment

I just got my TWC bill and it showed a $7 late payment fee. Huh? I have set up recurring payment so why would this be possible? It turns out that because I recently updated my credit card info stored with their recurring payment system, it was going to take one extra billing cycle to take effect. Which, then, left my previous bill unpaid.

This is mind-boggling because I have many other services where they charge me monthly by CC, and none of them do this to me when I update my card #. I ended up wasting over 20 minutes contacting TWC to get the late fee waived.

This is a deceptive practice IMO by Time Warner Cable to try get extra money from its subscribers. This is pretty much as low as it gets. If this happens to you, please post here because I want to see how many others are getting affected by this iffy practice. SMH.

    Free Speed Upgrade?

Back at the end of August I got an email from them that said my broadband internet has been boosted for free to 10 megabit down and 1 megabit up. I did see a large increase in speed download-wise, sometimes of up to 15 to 19 megabits. But the upload speed still hovered at around 300 to 360 kilobits. So I called them up in October and tech support sent signals to "boost" the speed, also did a series of modem reboots, but no- still stuck at well less than half a megabit.

Just wondering if anyone's had a similar experience and if you ever had it resolved (the upload speed). The modem I'm using is a Scientific Atlanta WebStar DPC2100 Hw Revision 2. Manufactured in 11/05 (wow that's over 6 years old!)
