Hire a Helper was Sued By Uhaul 2011 (Prices Went Up)
ORDER NUMBER: TRUTH101
I came across a lot of one sided reviews. I suspect maybe its bloggers for hire a helper???
Anyways, here is the truth of hire a helper.
In 2010-2011, they were successfully sued by Uhauls Moving Help for hacking and stealing their business model and program. They now have to pay (indefinite?) Uhaul a percentage of any income produced via their website, which clearly states they add $50 to the full cost of every order.
Example: Movers Charges 2 Men 2 Hours $100, Hire a Helper charges the customer $150.
Simply google hire a helper sued by Uhaul and you will see why the prices are higher than the other moving labor companies.
There is a good article on mymovingreviews about Hire a Helper. It was pretty thorough.

Pros:
Hire a Helper does connect customers with movers for moving labor services
and they do provide unbiased information regarding service providers.
Cons:
Hire a Helper was founded by a hacker who was recently sued by Uhaul. The lawsuits effect can be seen in the pricing model of the business; making it not really in the customers interest.
Hired three guys to help me move in NYC, they did an excellent job and were about half the price of anyone else I had looked at. Very impressed with the customer support from HireAHelper and the guys they sent out
I was looking for some cheap workers to help me with my backyard. My wife has been nagging me to clean it up with all the junk I have accumulated over the years of being a pack rat. Found hire a helper and hired couple of guys on there. Great experience. They cleared out all the junk and moved it all to the trash. My wife was happy with the cleared backyard.
Most of the laborers found on hire a helper are college kids looking to supplement their income. How this website works is that you enter in your zip code, day you need help, and the area of work you are looking for assistance. The laborers are cheap and it helps out these kids looking to make extra income while going to school. I have found Jason on there and he did a terrific job with all the house tasks that I ask him to do.
Needed help deep cleaning my apartment after the big move and looked on hire a helper to find some people. Found Jessica and thought she was very friendly and efficient. She worked fast and her made sure every area was fully cleaned out. My ex land lord was pretty satisfied with how I left my apartment.
I got Sam and Tony from Hireahelper and they were a joy to work with. They were professional, on time, and courteous. I have recommended these two gentlemen to all my friends.
I hired George and his team on hire a helper to help me move. I only gave them a day notice, but that was no problem. They worked hard and was careful with any delicate items.
Chuck and Alphonso were very professional, and polite, and quite accommodating. Miranda, the coordinator was VERY helpful, since I was moving from out of state. I HIGHLY would recommend them to anyone considering a move (Class A Moving) Thank you!!!!!
