Great Company!

I've been with CREDO for over 10 yrs and never have had any problems. Sprint has good service too. It's easy to take care of billing an payments online and use auto pay, which I do. They have good prices on their plans too. I'm looking for a phone upgrade from Samsung to iPhone and finding a decent selection online. I've gone to a CREDO store in the past to upgrade and they were very helpful and patient. Not a lot of stores though. New customers get a better deal on new phones, unless you want to sign a 2 yr contract, which for me isn't a problem. I won't be switching to anyone else. I love their progressive causes and the fact that I can donate to them monthly without paying anything. My phone bill isn't any higher to cover this. I get a reminder to vote for 1,2 or 3 causes each month via email too. I love this company!

Bought: Samsung phone

Pros:
  • Good service
  • Good customer service
  • Progressive causes that I believe in with choices to donate to one two or three of them monthly
  • Cons:
  • Not a lot of local stores near me

    Zero customer service

I waited 48 hours for a number to port out from Credo. They had no record that anyone had even requested it. They finally found the request and because the address said Street and not St, it was denied although they never told me. Customer service only apologized. That was it. No real customer service. Go elsewhere.

  • can't think of one

  • customer service

Many a lie between the service rep. and the bill

I have been consistently overcharged by Credo. The month that my bill was $240 was the month it was supposed to be $110. The month that my bill was supposed to be $30--the bill was over $80.00

And I don't have a smart phone. I have made precisely one 1 minute phone call yet their "records" show me gabbing on the phone constantly. There is no way! They keep talking about "routine pro-rated charges" they are making yet will not disclose precisely what these 'pro-rated charges" are nor for how long they will last.

I am getting out as soon as I can.

Kona, the least costly and least sophisticated phone on the market, costs me much more than the people I know with smart phones.

    Bought: Kyocera Kona

    Pros:
  • They talk up their liberal causes
  • Cons:
  • huge bills

  • lying customer service reps

  • lack of transparency

Not the company it used to be, terrible customer service

We have been customers of Credo Mobile/Working Assets since 1991, mostly because although they are the most expensive plan out there, their customer service has historically been excellent. That seems now to have changed. We've had lots of problems with returning a phone, and throughout trying to get it resolved I've been subjected to some of the worst customer service I've ever received from anyone. Innumerable phone trees, long holds, never talking to the same person twice, shunted around, told to take up the problem with Apple who told me to take it up with Credo, being disbelieved and basically finding no help whatsoever and no one on the other end of the line willing to listen and work with us. When a company screws things up so badly that enthusiastic customers of 25 years are rooting for their ultimate failure and jumping ship, something is going dramatically wrong. I hope someone there is reading. You used to be a good company; now you're just like all the rest, only way more expensive.

    Trapped

Ever since we switched to Credo Mobile our service has been unacceptable. We have sporadic dropped and choppy calls. Because it has been more than a month that we have been calling them and trying this and that it is too late to get out of the contract and we will owe them $300 per phone to get out of their service. Does this seem right to you?

    Poor Customer Service

Yes, they get you with the donating to progressive causes. There phones are old and not great quality. If something happens to your phone you have to wait over 2 weeks to get a new one. Then they bill you for the entire month of service even though you didn't have it. Also, I lost my job and couldn't pay for a month where I lost my coverage. They would not discount all or part of the month that they didn't provide service. They said it was 'available' if I paid the past amount due and the current amount. They are extremely hard to get in touch with and not helpful when you do get them on the phone. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

    LOVE Credo!

I have been a customer for about 4 o5 years now and I love Credo. They use the Sprint towers and since I switched over from Sprint, I haven't seen a difference. The only complaint I have is that their plans are a little pricey, but I like the new method they are using where you can choose how much data you need a month. I will not likely ever go back to a mainstream phone company unless someone else is paying my bill.

    Avoid at all costs!

    We fell for their BS....

We switched from AT&T to Credo 2 years ago (5 phones). They were offering decent deals and I liked the idea of donating to progressive causes. The first issue is coverage on the Sprint network. Voice coverage is weak and data is very slow almost everywhere. The next issue is that you can only use their phones. If you lose or destroy your phone, you can't buy an unlocked phone and add their sim card, it has to be their phone. If you want to travel overseas, they offer virtually nothing in the way of a reasonably priced international plan.

The contracts on all 5 phones expire either 12/24 or 12/26. We are going to be out o the country when the contracts expire, so I ported 4 of the lines over to AT&T this weekend (within the last month of the contract) and called today to cancel the 5th line (which hasn't been used since Aug). They are charging me $475 ETF ($95 per line) when the last months bill would have been $270 (which I have no problem with paying). We don't want to pay another month on the 5th line after the contract expires, but the only option is to call the day the contract expires. I told the customer service supervisor that that wasn't possible and she said too bad. They can't schedule a cancellation.

They may spout progressive rhetoric, but they are a totally inflexible company and the apparent savings are an illusion.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Bought: Family plan with 5 phones

    Order Date: 2012-12-20

    Pros:
  • very few
  • Cons:
  • poor coverage
  • lack of overseas calling plans
  • locked into their phones
  • unreasonable and inflexible policies.

After posting my complaints here and several other venues, CREDO Mobile reached out to me and we have reached a mutually agreeable solution. Hats off to them for reaching out, but it never should have had to come to this.

    My Second try a disaster

This is my second time with Credo. Like a lot of people have said I completely agree with the politics, but service sucks. I have been on the phone with tech support 7 times in the last 2 days. They can't resolve my coverage problem in my home. I live in the middle of SF. They tell me my coverage should be excellent. I have the iphone6. Dropped calls, text msgs that don't go through, garbled speech. They sent me the Airave signal booster. When it works (so far about 50% of the time) the call is good. Customer service cannot resolve the problem and if I cancel they will charge me early termination, etc. They keep saying they want to work with me and are very friendly on the phone, but in the meantime I have the worst connectivity ever from my home.

    credo mobile is great

I have been a customer of credo mobile for a decade.I began with them because I shared their progressive values. Initially in the first few years it seemed a bit more expensive. However, in the past two to three years they have become extremely sophisticated and streamlined. I love their service. The product is wonderful. The price is good. I have 4 phones with them. They give me excellent service, are very attentive with any questions or concerns I have. I cannot say enough good about my service from them and seem to be getting better and better. Head and shoulders above verizon. And I still share the progressive values that they have.

    Pros:
  • Customer service
  • phones
  • phone and data service
  • technical assistance
  • price
  • progressive values
  • Cons:
  • None that I can think of

    worst service ever

just got a new phone (rumor reflex) from them. has taken over a week to try and activate. their customer service are staffed by totally ignorant people who have no idea what is going on. Never work with this company. while i signed up because of their progressive views - its much better to go with a company that works and give out money yourself to causes that you support.

CREDO might be a republican plot to exploit progressives

I initially could not speak enough good about this company. A nuise was removed as i left 18 years with Sprint and their horrid, abusive, blood pressure rising antics. ALL Credo agents were so kind, and I'm giving money to causes i support and not the people tearing down our country. Well that ended when i traveled internationally. Now I have been told multiple different things, even been told things i said but never said if you know what i mean, but i traveled to St.Maarten in April, spoke with Credo before the trip and advice given, just use hotel wifi and no issue with data charges. Trip went fine and no extra charges. With this experience in mind why would i be concerned that Mexico would be any different? and i still don't know what exactly is going on because now ALL Credo agents have gone sour on me, clearly once they find a way to slap you with a large charge, and then you argue it, your out of the club. Attitudes across the board have changed and now the Grand Pubahs have stated i must pay over $600 for data charges i miraculously incurred while following their advice to just stay connected to the hotel wifi. I might even agree to pay if someone gave two shits and would talk to me about it and care, where did all the caring go from the beginning. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE EXPLOITING OUR POLITICAL VIEWS FOR THEIR GAIN AND WE KNOW WHAT PARTY THAT SOUNDS THAT!

    Best Customer Service

The best customer service I've ever experienced, and I've been with other large providers. I got a great deal on an HTC One. Works perfectly. Sometimes coverage not as good, and sometimes connection quality is not as good, but it's worth it for the good pricing and super customer service!

Luckily I found out before I signed on

If Credo is trying to keep it's customer base down then they are doing a great job. Tried to sign up. Took me 2 hours and 3 tries to get my order through. Then all I got was a message that said my order was referred. Then got an email that they couldn't take me and were sending me A LETTER!? How 1995 of them. They couldn't email me or "call" me you know, like on a TELEPHONE? Irony of ironies. And let me solve whatever insurmountable little problem there was. Complete and utter incompetence compound by a We don't give a s#!t attitude. STAY AWAY FROM THESE IMBECILES!!

    Lifetime customer, always awesome

I've been a Credo customer since they were WorkingAssets and I've had outstanding customer service, good prices, and I get to support an ethical corporation. One time my niece over-texted me at $168, and Credo gave me a credit toward a service upgrade instead of just a one-time charge...I needed the upgrade anyway, but they did it without my even asking for a break.

I just signed up for Ethical Electric, as well, so I have all wind-sourced power at my house.

Credo--the worst cell company- no lie!

After being an eight year customer, I started having one out of every three calls dropped--yes, a true third..updates, new battery, new phone --no fix; then the decree from management that I had to document three dropped calls in a 24 hour period before they would send a tech to the cell tower. I honor contract as deals from both parties. Credo did not honor its ability to provide excellent cell and customer service. I said I was not paying my buy out and to drop me. They said they would turn me into a credit recovery agency. I paid and am working on a legal suit, which I hope others who have experienced the Credo Reality CODE: OUR CUSTOMERS ARE JUST A MEANS TO OUR PURPOSE. Kayla Dakota 720-218 Arvada, CO 80003

Love Credo Customer Service and Plans

They've always been incredibly helpful and even let me know when there are better, cheaper plans rather than trying to push me to spend more money. And as icing on the cake, I believe in their mission. I called hem specifically about sign-in, looking up issues with my au pair's usage, helping with insurance, helping with temporarily suspending a number on our family plan.

Highly Deceptive Voice & Data Service Advertising

I live in NYC and switched to Credo Mobile 6 months ago and got a new Samsung Galaxy S4. Great phone. Specifically I live in Queens in a clearly advertised Credo (Sprint) 4GLTE service area with 3G on my way to work on Long Island. I am shocked at the average coverage quality: 1MBps download speed. I get good 4GLTE about 5% of the time. Most of the time google maps doesn't work or I can't open a browser. I have persistent call problems and when I contact customer support: A miracle! Sprint was having problems right when I was. Credo is a scam. I've traveled to DC, Fort Lauderdale, Boston and Cleveland and had identical problems. None of my friends on ATT, Verizon or Tmobile have these problems. I just want out. The phone is awesome on WIFI - but Credo has nothing to do with that.

Bought: Samsung Galasy S4 on 4GLTE and 3G Service

    Order Date: 2013-10-09

    Date Received: 2013-10-11

    Pros:
  • The answer the phone and are very nice. Most carriers don't even let you get to a live person - Credo is really good about that.
  • Cons:
  • Cellular service is the worst of the major carriers and it is very evident; market comparisons all indicate the same thing. Sprint is back of the pack.

Don't go with CREDO!! ...aka, GREEDO

    RECOMMENDATION:

    1. Save your hard-earned money,

      2. Donate your time or money to the progressive cause of your choice - bypass Credo.

      3. Reject the supposedly progressive "schtick" -

Don't go with CREDO!! ...aka, GREEDO.

Final outcome for this customer : Porting number out, cancellation of contract and payment of their outlandish, rapist contract cancellation fees.

Would not permit a customer with cognitive challenges (due to a chronic illness) to cancel a non-activated phone contract after two months. Again - the phone was never activated.

The customer's personal situation was explained - customer service rep Dean was very helpful and compassionate. His Supervisor, Cherish, lacked compassion, was impatient and abrasive and sounded like a just another corporate robot. "A phone contract is a phone contract." AND "We are a business....". Very cold and abrasive.....not at all progressive or compassionate.

Dear Cherish...that may be....but CREDOMOBILE just lost this long time (more then ten years total between Working Assets Long Distance and Credomobile) customer. They are in the business of "assisting" with progressive political causes - which they do - and is a great gimmick as a "foundation" to their corporate existence.

A CREDOmobile rep sold this person a renewed contract and additional phone for $20 more per month.....and the bill is now $60 more per month. They lied about the final amount the bill would be - and the customer responded outside of 30 days. Cherish would not take responsibility for their mistake. Nor did she have any compassion for this customer's life-situation, living with a chronic illness on an extreme budget. This customer doesn't own a TV, doesn't have a cable bill and thought it would be good to stay with Credo, because of the support of some great causes. HOWEVER - CREDO IS NOT THE COMPANY IT ONCE WAS.

The hypocrisy is, they won't assist one long-time customer who is struggling financially due to a chronic illness. This customer has been on long-term disability for cognitive and other health issues. Cherish, the Supervisor who stated there is no on higher than me to talk to", when I asked to speak with her Supervisor, was cold, did not LISTEN, said she understood - but is not at all capable of understanding refused to cancel the 2 month old contract. No rational and reasonable explanation would change her mind.

CREDO is a about the NUMBERS.....not about supporting progressive issues. If they were - they'd help the occasional customer who wasn't capable of responding in a timely manner due to cognitive challenges. Shame on CREDO. Shame on your "Supervisor", Cherish. What a horrible representation of your supposedly progressive and compassionate and "cool" company.

    Pros:
  • A portion of the proceeds go to support progressive causes. Good coverage (via leased Sprint lines). Used to have stellar customer service - when they were Working Assets.
  • Cons:
  • Expensive
  • poor overall customer care. Don't let their support of progressive causes fool you.....they are now 100% American-corporation. Money is the goal
  • not customer care or satisfaction.

    Always great service

I have been with Credo for years and years. Sometimes i don't have great tower service (in the mountains), but i gladly give that up for great...stellar even, customer service. They always answer quickly, give good info, and SOLVE the problem with a positive attitude. Compare that to AT&T whose motto is "we couldn't care less." Go Credo.

3 years and we've had enough.

We have been with Credo for more than 3 years now and the service has reached the point that we have to go elsewhere.

Initially, our coverage was very good and we were happy with the service. We had a couple of issues with the phones and tech support worked us through them. But after a year we began noticing that our voice service was dropping more frequently and that our data service would toggle between fair to non-existent where there had not been any issues before. After talking to support and thinking about our options, we decided to try new phones. Now we have gone from bad to worse and the phones are only a part of the issue. We now have a snapping and popping sound on all of our calls that we send or receive from home (or near home). Credo support has located the issue as being a local tower, but instead of sending anyone out to fix it, have decided to punish us for bringing it to their attention. They've sent us a multi page document to fill out with historical data proving that we have had dropped calls. In the mean time our service continues to deteriorate and nothing is being done.

We are already paying much more for the service than we would for any of the other carriers, but we are getting much less in value.

LIARS. Do NOT do business with CREDO Mobile

They lied about the cost savings, they lied about how easy it would be to get the early termination fee from AT&T covered, they lied about the big discount they were going to give for the first several months, they lied about the unlimited data plan covering a trip to Canada and they have a huge early termination fee just like the big carriers. They are unethical, and they are more expensive, and since all they do is resell Sprint, your money still goes to scumbags.

    Pros:
  • They give lip service to a liberal agenda.
  • Cons:
  • They lie
  • They are expensive
  • They are no different from other carriers.

    Excellent

I have moved 3 phones to credo from verizon and have experienced nothing but good. I sent in my buyout billing as requested from verizon and got a little over 3 months credit immediately.

My signal is good to ok, but I have had sprint before and knew that going into this with Credo. Its a matter of exercising my power of where I spend my bucks and the signal is ok. It is the only way we the people will regain our position is to take care who we give support with our cash. Take Care all is well!

Oh and the bill is accurate in the amount I was quoted. I am happy after 15 years with Verizon, ALEC member and Verizon vs FCC, lost a good one!

Bought: 3 regular samsung phones and unlimited service.

    Order Date: 2013-08-21

    Date Received: 2013-08-23

    Pros:
  • Excellent Customer service and sales encounters. Price is good not cheap but less than with verizon. Credit for verizon contract buyout was sent in according to the requirements and account credited immediately. IU take my power back.
  • Cons:
  • A bit less signal strength at home and around the area. But I knew this before I signed up
  • since I had sprint before. I spoke with a customer service rep and they are always working on improving this. And in fact it is better here than it was way long ago when we had one phone on sprint.

    Unethical hypocrites

On the crest of the liberal wave sweeping the country, we dropped AT&T and switched to Credo that told us they would pick up the early termination fee up to $400.00. After many letters and copies of the AT&T bill with a $250 termination fee, Credo finally told us that they did not have enough evidence to cover our AT&T early termination fee. Credo gave us a terrible service. For example, we could get connection in our bedroom but not in our living room, 10 feet away; and it kept dropping calls. When I called them about this problem their answer was that they did not provide a service but the connection is provided by somebody else. We received enormous bills "because of overuse of the service." Finally I said enough is enough: bad service, deceptive practices and large bills were enough to convince us to stop Credo services. This past April 2013 we walked into an AT&T outlet and signed for their service once more. We called Credo and told them that we would not continue with them and we were switching our phones. They said that everything was OK and, SPECIFICALLY, Credo said there was NO early termination fee (there were 6 days left in our contract.) Both our telephones with unlimited calling plus and iPad connection cost us in AT&T LESS than what Credo charged us for our two puny phones with poor connections and large bills. Today, September 14, we received a bill from Credo for $180.00, threatening us to send the bill to a collection agency. We called Credo and they told us that it is an "early termination fee." When we told the supervisor that when we called Credo the agent said that for 6 days there would not be an "early termination fee" the Credo supervisor scoffed at us: "Six days is an early termination, not different from six months, so you guys better pay now or face a collection agency." Well, that's what we are going to do right now, pay them... once more. Overall, bad service, deceptive practices and total lack of ethics. I still believe in liberal causes, but these Credo guys are a bunch of unethical people.

    Pros:
  • Pays lip service to liberal causes
  • Cons:
  • Inefficient service
  • unethical behavior.

    Good service

After dealing with Verizon and Sprint, Credo is a welcome change. The reps always help me, quickly and politely, and they've been really reasonable, often offering to drop a fee or credit me for something without my having to ask. For example, I was paying for a family plan for my brother and myself. When he died, unexpectedly, they let me out of the contract for one of the lines without making me show a death certificate, even though both lines were in my name, and they even let me keep the extra minutes per month that he'd gotten when he renewed (since he didn't need a new phone last year). No other transaction that I had to make regarding him went as smoothly, and they were sympathetic and professional as I sniffled through the transaction.

My only complaint is that my new phone has a terrible battery life and a lot of annoying features and I am stuck with it-- not sure if they have the greatest selection of phones when you upgrade. But the coverage, plans, pricing, and service are all great, so next time I upgrade I won't wait until last minute and will research the reviews of the phones I'm choosing from better. I prefer Credo to the other major companies I've worked with, and that's in addition to liking their values and support of progressive companies.

Bought: Samsung slide phone of some sort with a Credo contract

    Pros:
  • Good fees
  • customer service
  • and reception
  • Cons:
  • Phone has a short battery life

    Credo sucks!!

I joined Credo leaving Sprint in March 2012. I joined them because of the 40% off for the 1st year service and the contract buyout. My first month bill was over $700 due to going over my minutes which has never happened to me with Sprint. My husband he contant connection issues with his phone they even sent him another one and the problems still exsist. They might not be using all Spring towers because my service got a lot worse. Most of the time I have to use my router signal in the house. After the 40% off deal was over my bill went up like $60. I so want to get out of this contract but I refuse to give them a dime more money than my bill. I have 8 more grueling month off this craziness and I'm immediately switching!!! Yes the cust. service is friendly but what good is that when they can always resolve the issue at hand.

    Bought: Samsung SII Epic 4G

    Pros:
  • I got a nice phone
  • Cons:
  • -Horrible signal

feels like bait and switch to me - read the fine print

I switched to CREDO because it offered a lower rate than my prior carrier and I liked their progressive stand on issues.

But once the 1 year discount period ended the rate was substantially HIGHER. I called and informed the rep that I was unhappy and felt it should at least be no higher than the service I left. There was NO effort to work with me to find a better plan (take it or leave it).

I left. I found a carrier that has no contract and much better rates - that I won't name so you know that I don't have a financial agenda.

The final CREDO bill arrived with an additional $110 service charge for breaking the 2 year contract.

I called CREDO and informed the representative that I would notify the public to be wary about CREDO - to read the fine print. This is that.

    Pros:
  • The rate was good for the first year
  • Cons:
  • the rate was higher than the competing plans the next year

    Best in the industry!

I was surprised to see a few less than perfect reviews of this company, since I've been with Credo for years and absolutely love this company. In fact, I just added another line--my first with a data plan-- and was pleased to find that they have the most economical data plan in the industry, considering that when they say "unlimited," they really mean it. I've never had to wade through an automated menu, always get to talk to a knowledgeable person, and the reps never make customers feel like a number. Also love what this company stands for. Never a problem, and I don't expect to have one in the future. Great track record!

Bought: Samsung Galaxy II with data plan.

    Order Date: 2013-05-12

    Pros:
  • Company supports good causes. Live support with smart
  • friendly reps.
  • Cons:
  • Bill credits take 4 weeks to appear. This was explained to me and I don't really consider it a con
  • but just wanted to mention for other readers.

    Credo Mobile

The main advantage to Credo is that they are a progressive organization and that your membership goes toward helping progressive organizations. In terms of the phone service, it is clear as expected. However, in rural places you will often not get cell service. Cell service is good in the Washington, DC and the metro area. They don't offer the i-phone, but you do get Samsung.

    Credo is Good Company

I hate paying any monthly bill, so no matter which one I have to pay, I don't particularly like doing it - I mean, how can you love your phone company? That's not a requirement, nor is it even reasonable. I know they are no worse than any other one. Some of these negative comments seem fake. Who buys something over and over if it is no good?

    Pros:
  • Donations to causes I believe in.
  • Cons:
  • It's a bill
  • and we could get inexpensive cell service
  • if we decided not to use Credo.

    Customer for many years

I have been a CREDO customer for years. I have occasionally had a glitch with them. For a time, I think they were not up to snuff re: their customer service, but in the last year their customer service has gotten much better - and it has always been is far superior to what I know is the case with other phone companies. Also their products have improved and are excellent. Their prices are at least comparable.

Lousy website with incorrect billing information

I went to buy a new phone online as mine had accidentally gotten wet and I needed a new one. I just use the basic flip phone, nothing fancy, and when I checked to see how much it would cost, I thought I would also pay my bill online. I generally pay from my checking account, but this time I decided to pay directly from their website. Could not get a phone online as the website was not letting me, so I made a payment and then a few days later, I noticed that it said that I still owed money. I was unsuccessful in getting a phone online, so I spoke to a rep and picked out a cheapie phone. I asked her to put the cost onto my bill, and she said they couldn't do that "because the computers were down." So I called back the next day. When I called back, I noticed that I still owed money on my bill. I spoke to a sales rep, and again asked to have the cost of the new phone put onto my bill. Again I was told 'our computers are down, you'll need to use a credit card." I was pissed at this point, because it was right after Christmas and my credit card bills were high enough, and as I've been a good customer and pay my bills on time I felt this was rather inconvenient.

I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for ten minutes. The supervisor who spoke to me sounded like she was about 22 and would not tell me why she could not add the phone cost to my bill. I got aggravated and hung up. I thought maybe I had entered an incorrect amount last time I paid, or maybe they would not let me put the cost of the phone on my bill because I still owed them money, and as I didn't have the paper bill in front of me, I made another online payment. A couple of days later I see that the website says I STILL owe money. So I call them. I was told that the billing section of their website was under construction (of course, there was nothing on the page that even mentioned that) and had been for a couple of weeks. I asked what my balance was. They cheerfully told me that I owed them no money, in fact, I had a credit of over $300...due to the fact that I had overpaid these asshats because their stupid website was giving me incorrect billing information.

I went off. I spoke to a supervisor, some tree-hugger named Kenny, who tried to tell me, "hey, at least you wont have to pay your bill for a few months." I told Kenny that I wasn't feeling that, I like my cash flow to be where I want it to be, and I expected them to write me a check, and pronto, not in "a couple of weeks," like he originally tried to tell me, but immediately, or I would take them to court. Surprisingly, Kenny sent me the check for the full amount and I received it the next week. I noticed the envelope had never been sealed...so they send me a check for $300 and change in an envelope wherein it could have easily been lost in the mail. The stupid factor continues. I tried to cancel my account, but unfortunately I had just upgraded my sons phone and in the process was conned into another two year contract. I informed Kenny and his pals that the reason I chose Credo was because I would rather die than give another dime to that fascist, tea-party supporting conglomerate a/k/a AT&T, but being that they were in competition with AT&T they might want to tighten up their service and do something wacky like keeping their website accurate and up-to-date, and if it was being upgraded, put up some sort of notice so people are aware that their information is temporarily inaccessible, as opposed to just blowing it off and letting people read incorrect information. I was cool because I got the check and it didn't bounce, but I just got my bill for this month and it tells me that I owed $128 last month, which I paid, but there is a mysterious "balance forward" of $450...time to give old Kenny a call, and maybe swallow my pride and crawl back to AT&T.

I don't know who their technical engineers are or where they were educated, but this whole experience is making me thing that Credo does not have its collective sh*t together in any sense of the word. It's a disaster.

    Pros:
  • Support ethical and progressive causes
  • Cons:
  • lame customer service
  • semi-weak reception and incorrect billing information online

Customer service is the best/Sprint Network it uses is limited

I have been with Credo Mobile for two stints over the past ~decade. I left them after four years ONLY to have a smartphone, since they offered none at the time. They drew me back from Verizon with a decent offering of phones, and only in the last year finally started carrying top-of-the-line Samsungs. Customer service has always been very friendly, informative, and satisfying. Like most mobile consumers, I too feel the sense of entitlement when I reach that six month point in my contract only to see newer, better, faster phones hit the lineup with an upgrade price of "not a chance I'm paying that-dollars" while new customers can sign up at a fraction of the price. However, I understand why every cell phone company does this and so I put in my time. No longer under warranty, my cell phone is starting to have hardware issues beyond my control, but my discounted upgrade offer is pretty good now (I would pay $50 less to upgrade to the top 3 phones than new customers would!) that I'm 17 months into my 2-year contract. I'm now just having an internal argument with myself over whether or not I might save another $50 by waiting another month. Although my house and work gets great reception from the Sprint network providing my signal, it is terrible at my girlfriend's house and my relative's home, both of which are away from large metropolitan areas. I will stick with Credo specifically because they are NOT AT&T and Verizon!

    Pros:
  • Customer service
  • Billing
  • Cons:
  • Sprint network Provider is limited versus competition

Good company, just make sure you understand the basic premise

We recently switched from Sprint to Credo. First, people need to understand that Credo re-sells Sprint service; this means you are on the Sprint network and will get the same coverage that you would get as a Sprint customer, for better or for worse. The primary differences that I can see between Credo and any other provider is 1) Credo is up front about their politics and 2) they REALLY work hard at customer service. Consumer Reports recently gave Sprint higher marks than any other major provider for customer service; based on my experience with both Sprint and Credo, I can confidently say both companies have their technical problems but I would rather talk with a Credo rep than a Sprint rep ANY day of the week! I had a Sprint rep ask at the end of a very frustrating discussion whether she had answered my question...when I said no, she proceeded to try to convince me that she HAD answered my question! In contrast, when I expressed some frustration with a technical problem to a Credo rep, she responded with "I have no excuse and I'm sorry that happened"...like I said, they all have technical problems but at least I'm talking with a real person and not a script-reader with Credo...glad we switched.

    Pros:
  • * Very clear about who they donate money to
    * Excellent customer service (so far)
    * Good rates (better than Sprint
  • which is why we actually switched)
  • Cons:
  • * It's still Sprint network (for good or bad)

I too forgot to mention in my review that I appreciated getting a real LIVE human, who was knowledgable and I didn't have to through Automated hell only to try to figure out which option to choose. With Verizon it was hell and I would be transferred a lot but dropped when they tried the transfer. I got a human in about 2 minutes, calling customer service for help with remember my login stuff (duh me).

    What a Relief

I came to CREDO 2 years ago in desperation.

I let Sprint abuse me for 11 years (I actually reported one customer rep for verbal abuse and received a lengthy written apology from a high-up administrator) until I couldn't take it any more, and also watched my husband do battle with Verizon--very similar nastiness and incompetence on their part. TV/Internet service with AT&T convinced me I never wanted to have anything to do with them.

    Who was left?

So my standards were admittedly low when I turned to CREDO. Who knew they would then RAISE my standards?

A big plus was knowing my money was also helping causes I believed in. If I'm gonna be abused, at least I'm not indirectly voting for things I don't believe in, I reasoned!

But to my amazement, it's been a real win beyond where my money's going. I can't believe how well I've been treated--no battles, no condescension, no constant errors to fight over, incredibly helpful customer service. The peace in my life is notable. (I had to call Sprint nearly every month for 11 years over billing errors, ALWAYS resolved in my favor but often after hours on the line.)

My gratitude for CREDO is based on numerous factors.

~First, my phone bill is lower--with more lines. The savings alone so far have made the switch a good choice.

~Second, if I need help, I always, always, ALWAYS get to talk to someone here in the USA. Do you know what a difference it makes NOT to be talking to someone in the Philippines or Bangladesh at what is, for them, the wee hours of the night? trying to explain things to someone who pronounces Ohio as "Oh-hee-yo"? Please. I had no idea how much I craved talking with a fellow American--and I feel I'm supporting jobs here stateside too rather than at an overseas call center.

~In the 2 yrs I have been with CREDO I have had only a couple of real problems, and they have been resolved quickly with continuity of care as opposed to starting all over again as always happened with Sprint. I figure I've saved the equivalent of WEEKS of my time in not having so many problems!

~I am very happy about how my money is going to good causes. People vote with their pocketbooks and we have to hold corporations responsible.

The problems I have read above in other customers' complaints are, to be frank, endemic in the mobile-phone world. Mobile service satisfaction ratings are down there with lawyers and Congressmen as "Most Disliked Service." The phones and reception are full of problems. So you figure there will always be some of that when you sign on.

So, to me, the problems we have had, all early on, with CREDO were predictable and typical; the question is, How were they handled? Politely and quickly? did they recur? Were they costly to me, the customer? Was I stuck with something I didn't want?

Well--night and day different from all my previous experience. CREDO has resolved everything politely and quickly and I have never been left holding the bag (broken phone, etc.). They have always come up with a reasonable solution within the terms of the agreement. I have five phone lines so there's plenty of room for having a real mess--which hasn't happened, thanks to CREDO. They're all happily chugging along.

After my experience with Sprint and Verizon, CREDO's response wins hands-down. This is one less headache in my life. I can't emphasize enough the total change this is. I feel as though CREDO has given me back my peace of mind and my time. I simply don't worry about my cell-phone service any more. And if I do have a problem or question, I'm no longer afraid to make a call to straighten things out.

    Win-win!

    Pros:
  • Customer service
  • low rates
  • supporting good causes
  • Cons:
  • No iPhones
  • Phones not great in general

    Adding A Line

I wish to add my partner to CREDO service under the Family Plan and asked the representative how to add him with an existing (older) Credo phone and how much that would be for the same plan I presently have. Seems as if adding someone to an existing plan with exactly what I have now is not something that they do. I need to reflect and then try to get this worked out.

    Pros:
  • Very nice representative who seemed to know a great deal.
  • Cons:
  • What I wanted to know is if I can use an existing (old) Credo phone (Galaxy S2) and add to my account under some plan (Family Plan possibly?)for my partner and was YES. Happy me. When I asked if I could add him with exactly the same plan I have
  • I did not understand the answer and was referred to the Family Plan program.
No new add-on program seemed to have exactly the same plan as I currently have. So
  • am confused.
Maybe I'll try again when my non-nerd self can muster the courage to take another stab at it.

Yeah, I think you have to give up your individualplan and switch to a family plan, which have different allowances for talk and text times. It does seem confusing to get their emails that suggest simply "adding a line"...

    Great so far.

Only reason I dont give 5 stars was coverage issues while traveling. But may have had these with any smart phone. I have Samsung Conquer(free). Only problem is faulty headphone jack. Probably not Credo's fault but they said they will work on a warranty replacement.I haven't pursued that yet.

My interactions with reps on phone has been nothing but pleasant. They are always helpful, friendly, polite and patient. This is rare these days. They have been helpful also rare.

Price is competitive and suites my(our) needs. I have four lines so far.

    Great except Sprint's lousy coverage

We have had four (for a while five) Credo phones for about five years. We have had very few problems, and those were all solved in reasonable times. We changed the plan to get more minutes in the months leading up to the Nov. 6 2012 elections since I was making a lot of campaign calls, then we made an easy switch back. The only ongoing problem we have had (and the only reason I didn't give the fifth star) is Sprint's lousy coverage here in Silicon Valley.

    Pros:
  • Friendly service
  • Problems solved in reasonable times
  • Social responsibility of the company
  • Cons:
  • Lousy coverage by Sprint's network in Silicon Valley (not exactly out in the sticks)

    RUN AWAY FROM CREDO

I made the mistake of switching from Verizon to Credo this summer. The freebie phone they sent me (Samsung Transform) was pretty crappy; it dropped a lot of calls and had A LOT of glitchy issues. They sent me another Transform. Same issues. They sent an Air Rave unit, which is supposed to strengthen the signal and prevent dropped calls in the home. This helped somewhat, but I still get complaints from people that they can't hear me well, and the phone still drops calls on occasion.

OK. I give the CREDO tech support people a lot of credit, because we've spent HOURS trying to work through these issues. Unfortunately, I still can't use the phone without people complaining that they can't hear me. And the calls continue to get dropped when I'm in the house or out of it.

I've asked Credo to send me a different phone. After 4 months of frustration, hassle, and poor service (and not cheap service, I might add) is it too much to ask for a different model of phone? I rely on my phone for my business. Unfortunately CREDO is an unreliable carrier, and I'm going to have to pay an early termination fee to get out of this contract.

SCREWED. STEER CLEAR OF CREDO MOBILE.

    Pros:
  • Tech support friendly and willing to help
  • Cons:
  • Customer support dismissive and unwilling to help

I wonder how many bars your phones showed when you had the call quality problems...? I only had problems when there were few bars using the HTC Detail.

    DO NOT SWITCH TO CREDO!!!

After being with ATT with more than 7 years I decided give Credo a chance. I made sure that the person who signed me up gave me a comparable plan to the one I had. I WAS WRONG! I will end up paying almost 1400 for the first 3 months because I went over the minutes that the plan allowed. I NEVER had to worry about going over minutes with ATT. Although they were able to give me a small credit, I will end up paying a ridiculous amount of money. Do not switch!

    Pros:
  • The customer service reps are very patient
  • they listen to you
  • very courteous
  • they donate part of their profits to worthy causes
  • Cons:
  • Could not offer me a better discount on the overage

I looked at the minutes I had used on the bill from my previous company, and then chose the Credo plan which had enough minutes to cover my usage. I had no problems at all.

    Shocked By The Negative Reviews!

I am blown away by how negative so many of these reviews are. My family has been with CREDO (when they were Working Assets) since as long as I can remember. Chalk that up to a mom who wanted to support progressive causes when she could.

I just switched over to CREDO from T-Mobile and I was worried about the tech support and customer service aspects. I have never had tech support issues before, but I did have billing issues with T-Mobile. Multiple times. Each time they were quick, responsive, and resolved the issue excellently!

Last night I had my first billing issue with CREDO. And we're not talking like "Oh, I think you charged me 1.35 extra on the mandatory federal, state, and local fees line." We're talking "Oh. I see you shut off my service and think I owe you almost $1000 for my phone service. Doubtful."

So, since they don't have a 24-hour customer service line (they should change that!), I sent them an e-mail last night around 11PM. I awoke this morning thinking "Oh man. I wonder if CREDO e-mailed me back. I wonder if they're going to fix this for me. They'd better top T-Mobile's customer service." And they did! Actually, they exceeded it.

Apparently I forgot to sign up for unlimited texting, and while I am an adult male, I actually text more per month than most teenage girls, so it's inconceivable to me that I would sign up for a plan where I would pay .20 per text, since that would run me bankrupt in a matter of months.

CREDO backdated my plan for unlimited texting, removed all the texting charges, and restored my phone service (all while I was asleep!) even though my bill still shows a whopping four-digit number.

Honestly, I'm shocked at all the bad customer service comments. I could never have had this resolved over e-mail (again, while I slept!) with T-Mobile. All those decisions require you to call in, play phone tree tag, and talk to a representative (who, to be fair, were always amazing in my experience). But, I'm an e-mailer and a texter and knowing I can talk to my phone service provider over e-mail is great!

And let's be honest, who doesn't love supporting the causes they support?

    A+

    Pros:
  • Great Customer Service
  • Great Prices
  • Great Phone Selection
  • Great Coverage
  • Cons:
  • No 24-Hour Customer Service Line

    Great Service

Are you kidding? honest, respectful, helpful with figuring out the best plan, and then they do good work with the profits. The only glitch in service was with getting the buy out... that took a while, then they came through just like they said on the phone.

    Pros:
  • Great customer service
  • great products
  • great causes
  • Cons:
  • non international plan

So glad we switched to CREDO

I switched my family to CREDO and am so glad that I did. Their customer service is fantastic! Our switch over from Verizon was seamless. We finally invested in smart phones and are delighted with them. We went with CREDO's Samsung Transform Ultra. Great phone! Sounds great and the phone is so intuitive. We haven't had a problem with dropped calls, etc, but will admit that Sprint's signal strength isn't great - but still much better than what we had with Verizon. Our home was a dead zone before we switched to CREDO. We had to buy Verizon's network extender just to be able to make and receive calls. No such problems with CREDO. FINALLY a phone company whose service is great and we can feel good about. PS - I haven't experienced anything close to what I've read in all these neg comments, but I guess everyone's experience is different.

    Pros:
  • Great customer service
  • Reliable service
  • Great phones
  • Cons:
  • Wish I had switched sooner

    High rates; poor service coverage

While CREDO does promote progressive causes, their monthly service rates are just way too high. My bill jumped $22 per month to $90 after one year for basic (no data or messaging) phone service on 2 basic phones. Verizon charges $60 for the same thing and I got better coverage. I cannot use my CREDO phones at home because there is no service in my area--not even roaming. With Verizon, I got 4 bars signal strength.

Yes, I know Verizon is an evil company, but at least their phones worked at my home AND they charged me $30 less per month for the same type of plan. I will switch back to Verizon after my CREDO contract expires and donate the $30 difference to the progressive causes I choose instead.

    Pros:
  • Supports progressive causes
  • Cons:
  • Rates much higher than Verizon
  • poor service coverage

    less than 1 star

I received 3 phones and could not get any of them activated. Customer service tried for more than three hours over two days. When I said that I wanted to return them I was told that I had to pay to ship them back. I said I shouldn't have to pay since they never worked. Steven, in "escalations" said that if I refused to pay to ship them back I would be sent to collections.

I wish I didn't have to give them one star. It was a complete waste of my time and my money.

    Pros:
  • Nothing
  • Cons:
  • Poor customer service
  • bad phones/reception
  • rip off!
