Decent service, but pesters you for renewal

I actually got American Home Shield through the existing home purchase. Our real estate agent negotiated to have the seller include it as part of the deal. I think she paid about $500 of it for 1 year and I had to pay the remaining balance of another $60 or so for the plan I picked. For the renewal, however, the price seemed to have jumped to around $700, so I was debating whether to keep it.

I used it a couple times for the water dispenser (frozen) on our stupid GE side-by-side fridge. The co-pay was $60 with a 30 day warranty (Sears came out to service).

They been pestering me with renewal calls that I had to pretty much block their phone #. I did try a quote from here with the promotional pricing and it was better than their renewal rate so I might just re-up.

  • easy to make a service request
  • Cons:
  • price increased for my renewal
  • unwanted repeated phone calls for renewal
  • Was this review helpful for you?

Worked- thanks. Didn't want to pay their $125 trade fee, so opted for the slightly higher cost combo plan at $53.25. I also added pool coverage for $13 extra a month. The priority code I used was BMFM0213.

I used the priority code WNBB0912B and was quoted for their combo plan at $42.83 a month, coming out to $514 a year. Bit the bullet on the trade service call fee of $125. If I had gone with the $75 each call, it would have been $639 a year instead. Good deal IMO, thanks.

With some tweaking I was able to get my quote to below $680. Definitely not going to risk another expensive AC breakage (we have 3 units) with the hot Texas summer coming around.

I went for their "Core" plan along with "SERVICE PLUS". I also included coverage for our Washer and Dryer + Refridgerator. For a 4300 square foot home the price was $713 and the service call fee was $75. Decent deal.
