Not happy with the ADT installation cost

I'm a USAA member and got a ~$7 discount on ADT's monthly monitoring service on our new home. The house already had a security system installed, but since I use VOIP ADT had to install a wireless cell thingie so that the system can call ADT for alarm events. The cost? Pretty much $300. Felt like a rip-off, but what can I do?

Don't do business with ADT

A simple door to the control panel of my home is broken and ADT asks to send a technician to identify the problem!!

My entire community has ADT hardware installed in our homes.

I have never come across a more ridiculous scenario!!

I have to spend close to $200 to have the system looked at, and all I need is a door. You sell the product but not the part, and if you do you charge an unfair amount... I despise your company and the treatment I've received!

I will FOREVER tell this story to everyone interested in your services!!

  • sells systems to builders but not parts to homeowners...

    Inexcusable Mix Up of My Account with a New Customer's

    I had cancelled my ADT Securities service in December. Recently, however, I started receiving these "work orders" emails with subjects of "Your ADT Technician is on their way". I thought it was some sort of commercial ploy, but then I received an email with the subject line of "ADT Work Order Summary for Job". There was a work order summary, and while the billing address was mine, the "Site Address" was for someone with the same name in another state.

    So I (and this was about a month ago) logged into my account and saw all these new charges.

    I called up ADT customer service and they said they would take care of it, and I so though okay whatever, problem resolved. Then yesterday, I received a letter from ADT that said "Your Personal Identification Code has arrived!" The letter indicated a Personal Identification Code that does not belong to my system, but obviously is for this other person with the same name as me. What a security blunder to send the security password to someone else.

    So this time, I did a chat with customer service so I can get things on record and in writing. Here is the transcript:

    The interesting thing is that it shows a Visa ending in **** when I log in, but that is not my card. Again my account is apparently tied up with another person

    I hope this this person's account has been disconnected from mine now. In fact, yesterday I received in the mail a "Personal Identification Code", apparently for this person. That is definitely not good security on your part.
