CPU Price Chart - April 15, 2001
Notes
and Recommendations: There hasn't been too much movement from last time. The fastest Athlons have come down about 5%. It seems that Intel will be aggressively cutting the prices of P4 in the near future by huge percentages. This means that AMD would have to counter with its own cuts on the higher end Athlons. Word has it that AMD will be introducing a 1.4 GHz Athlon shortly, followed by a 1.5 GHz iteration. At the lower-end, Intel tries to play catch-up to AMD with the recently announced a 850 MHz Celeron, which should be widely available in the next couple weeks.
Best high-end,
best-bang-for-the-buck CPU for this time:
AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz
Best value-based,
best-bang-for-the-buck CPU for this time:
AMD DuronĀ 800 MHz
