CPU Price Chart - January 7, 2001
Notes and Recommendations: There hasn't been too big of a price move since two weeks ago, although the higher-speed Athlons have come down some more making them even more appealing. Intel isn't sitting on its laurels, however, and has recently announced a 100 MHz bus Celeron running at 800 MHz, and a 1.3 GHz Pentium 4. The new Celeron will initially cost around $180- a prohibitive price considering that you can get an Athlon 1 GHz for almost the same price. I suspect, however, that its price will drop very quickly to around $120 or so a month or two after its introduction.
