Dell CPU Speed

Usually overclocking the CPU for laptops is very rare- in fact I've never personally heard of a successful instance of it. I've heard of people succesfully replacing the CPU of their notebook computer, however. I think that Dell test is telling you that the motherboard for your notebook is capable of handling an 800 MHz PIII. So unless you're able to somehow remove your 650 MHz chip, find and purchase the 800 MHz part and then putting it into the notebook you won't be able to do it I believe. Attempting to replace the CPU is too risky anyways, and the performance increase you'll realize won't be very significant for all the trouble. If you want to increase the performance of your notebook then adding more RAM is a better way.

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 with an intel chip that is running at 650mhrz but apparently this can run at 800 according to one of the tests that dell provides. How can I change this to run at this speed, I have looked in the bios but you can't do it there!
