Just be careful to read the fine print if you buy a "life time" license. Once your hard drive goes down or you replace your computer you'll need to purchase another license since the "life time" refers to the life time of your computer or its hard drive. Steven, January 9, 2010
I've just downloaded the AVS Video Editor, and as a complete novice to video editing, I am pleasantly surprised at the ease of use of this programme. From the initial file importing allowing multiple file imports at the same time, to the splicing, and especially the way you can edit to the exact part of a second, I already feel confident enough to create my own edited videos to show. The multiple save-as formats, the 300+ effects, I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. Well worth the free trial. Erick W B, January 5, 2010

It works fine for all the conversions I've tried. Great for converting Windows Media TV show format (.dvr-ms) or standard mpeg-2 to iPod format for downloading to the iPod. Very intuitive, straightforward interface. No complaints so far. It's been the best for point-and-shoot transfers. Haven't tried any funky customization, haven't needed it. Seems to be the ideal tool to replace my Pinnacle Studo which requires a lot of power from my computer and not as friendly as AVS video editor seems to be. The only draw back i have seen is the fact that there is no separate track for the audio attached to the video.

Good programme and great price. Unfortunately, I miss the ability to slow down and speed up videos like you can on Windows Movie Maker as I love being able to make videos in slow-mo. However, the effects on offer are good particularly the ability to zoom in on both photos and videos which gives a really intimate feel to home video editing.
I've also had a lot of trouble with the preview window. I can hear the audio but the screen is blank. However, when I pause the video, it shows exactly where I am in the movie. Very irritating when trying to edit and I have yet to find out whether this is my computer or the programme itself. Either way, highly annoying.
Given all this, it is a good programme and really reasonably priced. I would recommend it as I don't think many other people have had this preview window problem suggesting it's probably my computer so if you're looking to spend a little but get good results it's definitely money well spent.
