Creative Labs 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 (12 Mbyte 3Dfx Voodoo 2) |
notes: The Voodoo 2 cranks out some very beautiful (and fast) 16-bit images in Unreal. Upcoming cards will look better under Unreal, however, due to 24 or 32-bit color support. |

Matrox m3D (4 Mbyte NEC/Videologic PowerVR PCX2) |
notes: VertexLighting was turned off because it drastically reduced the brightness. Image quality-wise, overall you can make a strong argument that the Software Mode looks better PowerVR SGL accelerated mode. The PCX2 does an admirable job when in comes to framerate, however. |

Hercules Thriller 3D (8 Mbyte Rendition Verite V2200) |
notes: The alpha version of Epic's OpenGL patch for the V2x00 was used along with Rendition's OpenGL ICD Beta 2. I had to drastically increase the gamma level (via the Verite control panel) from 10 to 18 to get brighten things up so the game is playable. The screen captures reflect the increased gamma. The alpha OpenGL patch (or the Rendition driver) has some issues. As you can see in the bottom-right screen shot the water fall "disappears" at certain parts when it's not supposed to. In addition, I was unable to take 800x600 full-screen captures, so they are 640x480 for now. Overall, image quality is very good and should be better when new drivers/patches are released. |
