I am a huge collector of hockey jersey autographs. I currently have 40 jerseys. I bid on a Messier jersey and won it. Received an email right away saying the jersey was on its way. Waited two weeks and nothing. Called to find out and the gentleman said the jersey was "damaged" during shipping. He said I would have to find out the next time messier would be at Steiner signing autographs. I looked on the website and found he was coming in January. Called him back and he said it would be taken care of. After signing took place, nothing came in the mail. Emailed Peter Chapman and he said he would take care of it. That was on February 4, 2011. To date, nothing has been done to make this right. My opinion. DO NOT BUY OR SPEAK TO ANYONE THERE. THEY DO NOT CARE.

BUYER BEWARE... THESE GUYS WILL RIP YOU OFF BIG TIME.

I used to love Steiner Sports, but over the last year or so I've been fed up with the way this company does business. Sure they provide some great autographs and game used items, but it's obvious how over priced some of the stuff is. To top it all off, their customer service is the pits. If you call them to ask them a question, they pounce on you like typical salespeople and try to convince you to place an order with them right away.

The last straw for me is their gift card policy. They no longer accept gift cards on their website (even though they are called 'steinersports.com' gift cards) and when I called to try to use them towards a purchase, they said they were not valid on that item... when it's clearly stated that gift cards are supposed to be used like cash!!! Not only is that unfair, it's an illegal business practice under Fedaral Law (look it up!). So if they are cheating customers one way... you know what they say, where there's smoke, there's fire.

Deceitful Auction

Here is a friendly warning about Steiner Sports Auctions. I have been a long time customer of Steiner Sports and its auction site in acquiring many of my New York Yankees memorabilia. I have always enjoyed shopping on the site and bidding on items in their auctions - that is to say until recently. When I have received my last two items that I won on the auction site - the items were different than what was listed, photographed, and described on the site. The first time it happen I got an apology and accepted their gift card. I took this incident as an honest mistake and moved on. I had no concerns because they have always been on the up and up with me. However, this last auction I was bidding on I had to ask them to clarify the description on a Darryl Strawberry game used signed bat. The description did not match the bat inscription. They again apologized and thanked me for noticing the wrong description on the item and it was corrected. Anyway, I started bidding on Derek Jeter signed career stat bat and was happy that I won. But when I received the bat it was not the one they listed. When I notified them I got yet another apology and told it was stock photo. They apologized again for the confusion and offer a gift card again. I replied to them I did not want a gift card but I wanted the bat they listed on the auction site and the one I won. They told me the bat is not available anymore. I told them that I felt I got the bait and switch and bidders should be properly informed on the items so they can make informed decisions before placing a bid. They have ignored my last e-mail and even deleted my post on their FB page where I asked if anybody else had similar experiences with them lately. My guess would be YES. I have included the photos of the site item that was listed and what they sent me. The glaring difference is 2 less career inscriptions, no Jeter years embossed, and basically this is not the Final season bat that was listed in the auction. So here is my warning friends - shop at your own risk on Steiner Sports but definitely do not participate in their deceitful auctions.

This site is not all that great. I have purchased something there and waited for my item forever. Two weeks pass by without anything. So I gave them a call. No one picks up, just an answering machine during regular business hours. I left message. Person called me back that there was no such order in the system. I even got proof of the order.I emailed them, and all I got was one sentence, " Checking on order" - Peter Chapman. Next day, I got a reply, " I know order was in. Well send to web guys to check in on it."- Peter Chapman. I have the clue what he was talking about. Did not give me a full explanation to what had happened to my order. And it came to conclusion they didn't even shipped my item yet till yesterday! And it won't be here till next week. I am sure they were playing games with me. Not worth the time and money to go here. Bad customer service, and very unorganized company.

Putting me on hold, avoiding my calls. as soon as i got a customer service rep on the phone she told me my order was for an NCAA BASKETBALL. These jerks now charged me 200 and they are not answering the phones... what am i going to do?

I own over 100 autographed balls from HOFers (Mantle, Mays, DiMaggio) to current day stars. I only buy balls with the right COAs (Steiner, MM, UDA etc). Like post 23830 below, I have had signatures from balls I purchased from Steiner in the 99-02 time period completely fade away. The balls look fresh from the box - no staining or yellowing - just no signature. Ripken, Reggie, El Duque, Bernie Williams, Donnie Baseball, Phil Rizzuto, Duke Snider - all gone. And these balls have been stored in Steiner's own UV protected cases in a room which sees virtually no sunlight. I would say that 75% of the balls I purchased with a Steiner COA are now worthless. When I brought the balls into a Steiner retail store to show them, I was told to essentially pound sand. I would stay away - don't throw your money down the drain.

L purchased a Derek Jeter autographed baseball thru Steiner Sports Memorabilia several years ago and have also experienced the fading of the autograph. Steiner should advise buyers of this potential problem so that consumers can make an educated purchase. I contacted Steiner and spoke to Brook Cowan who was sympathetic about the problem, but in the end only offered to help with future purchases from Steiner. Fat chance that I'll make another costly purchase from them thinking I have something of value. Steiner makes enough money on this stuff to stand behind items that as Brook states rarely ever happens.

As an avid sports memorabilia collector I can say Steiner sports has quite possibly the best selection out there. However I can also say that they more than likely have by far the worst customer service out there as well. Twice have I had major issues out of 5 purchases from them. Needless to say I will not give them an opportunity for a third issue, save yourself the stress and shop elsewhere.

Steinersports.com authentication process is so thorough, I know every item on there is real. I bought a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball and its sitting in my office. I was able to purchased the items through my amex points. The experience was great and I would buy from them again.

Steiner Sports is a premier name in the business and their product authenticity is reputable. The website is easy to navigate and they update their new arrivals daily. I stay in the loop by signing up for their mailing list. Their service is great. After purchasing, I received a follow up call to see if I was happy with the item.

Steiner Sports Memorabilia is a great website for any sports enthusiast. I am a big baseball fan. Derek Jeter is my favorite player. Its great that I can choose different autograph items from their drop down menu. I bought an autographed photograph and its simply cherished on my mantle.

For the past year I have been ordering memorabilia from steiner sports as well as their auction website. I was charged $157 on two separate occasions for shipping when the advertised cost of shipping was $12, and i live in New Jersey (not a foreign country). I called to complain and was told there was nothing they could do, before they simply hung up on me. This was the worst service I have ever received, I will never order from this company again.

This is a great site and for the most part i get the information that i need when i need it. I like the facts i can get on the products and the individual info i can recieve on the products i'm interested in. So for the most part i am satisfied with the overall site and products but in the future i would like to see more products for the collecter in the middle class lineup and more activities in the Bronx area north/east section. Thankyou, Big C.

I received an e-mail from Steiner Sports stating "Receive a free 8x10 autographed photo with any purchase of $50 or more from our web site only." On Sunday October 18, 2009, I went to the Steiner Sports web site (auction) and purchased a autographed football for 305 dollars. I then requested my free photo and was told that this offer did not extend to the auction part of the Steiner Sports web site. The e-mail did not state, that this is only for the retail part of the Steiner Sports web site. This is false and deceptive advertising. I sent a e-mail to the company and was told that they were sorry that this was not clear. Does ignorance mean that they can falsely advertise their products?

About 7 years ago, at a NY Yankee charity event, I bought a Steiner ball autographed by the three Yankee perfect game hurlers for $600.00. After 2 or 3 years, 2 of the names faded completely. I keep the ball in dark, closed, away from light cabinet. I complained with luck. Steiner told me they despite their certificate of authenticity, they do not guarantee balls because they are prone to deterioration. If I had known of this risk prior to the sale, I would have bid less. Steiner does not stand behind their product. Live and learn, I guess. Anyone want to buy a David Wells ball?

As an avid Red Sox fan I've bought my share of memorabilia from SteinerSports.com. Recently I bought a baseball from the ALDS series. The items always arrived well packaged and a certificate of authenticity. We came oh so close this year but we'll get 'em again next season. Go Boston!

    Strong supporter of Steiner Sports

I have been purchasing sports memorbilia from Steiner Sports for years. I have had a wonderful experience with both the customer service department and sales department. Peter Chapman exemplifies what quality customer service is all about and several sales reps have kept in constant touch over the years keeping me updated with promos. I have also had dialogue with Mr Brandon Steiner on more than one occasion. Not sure how many CEO's of companies take time to speak with their customers. Top shelf company that I highly recommend. 5/5 rating, not sure hat some of these folks are talking about?

    Pros:
  • Customer service and authenticity.
  • Cons:
  • None.

To correct my prior review, I complained WITHOUT luck. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Also spoke to Yankees and they told me it was a Steiner problem, not theirs.
