Smartfares.com is a nightmare. Don't use it

I wanted to book ticket for my wife and 1,5year old daughter from Vienna

to Toronto for 1100 USD. Unfortunately I checked opinions about this

...right after my booking. Too late! I paid with credit card using

internet. Next I've got email, I should scan my credit card and passport

  • all sensitive data. I did it, but deleted numbers in the middle of

credit card number and CCV, because the already had it online. Next I got mail, I will be charged 150 USD, because I did not deliver required documents. Still ticket is nowhere. There is no ticket confirmation, no flight, only charges. I don't know, if I should send my wife to the airport 350 km away without eticket, time is up. DO NOT USE THEM. It is my worst nightmare in traveling ever. Nobody pick ups phone, nobody replies to your mails. I only got mail with no document fee 150 usd by now. It is fraud. I hope my mistake will help somebody. Somebody should call police on them.

    Exact same thing happened to us. They take all your senstive information and then do nothing. This is completely a scam. Company does a great deal on social media so I am going to make it a point of warning everybody I can about this shoddy business.

    Do not use Smartfares.com unless you have a high threshold for aggrivation. Your customer service phone call wait time will exceed 20 minuste...until you give up. They are a fly by night outfit. Their customer service phone published on email confirmation answers that you have called outside of business hours, no matter when you call. Your reservation will be routed to a travel agency....skybird Travel and tours....they can not help you and will give you the number to Coronado Travel Group for Smatfares customer service since smartfares customer service number returns an "outside of business hours" answer. Coronado Travel will leave you in Key to be serviced for hours if you wait that long.....

    A totally dis-satisfying experience.....

    Scam??

    Cancelled my reservation before flight and charged me $75.00 for an "agent fee". Trying to get it resolved is painful. Waiting for someone to answer phone for over 20 minutes and then told someone would call me back. I think I was talking to someone in India. This is a company "ripping people off".

    Worst company- smartfares.com

    worst service ever. Im from Israel and now backpacking in central America.Their agent, Nester, said he wouldn't charge my card without my permission but he did! Then asked for ridiculous cancellation fees!! Their price was $200 more expensive than others. Do yourself a favour, book your flight with different company.

    Good Experience With SmartFares.com

    SmartFares.com, amazing website for online booking of cheap flights..

    Let me share my own experience with SmartFares. Last month I have booked flight tickets to Paris from SmartFares. While surfing facebook.com, I found cheapest flight deal to Paris and SmartFares promo code FB30OFF. So I decided to book my tickets through it. And u all will not believe, I got $30 discount on my bookings. Only one thing disappoint me, this website not offer complete holiday package.

    Overall it was a wonderful experience.

    Smartfares.com is a scam!

    Be alert everyone, they are scammers!

    I booked a flight from Orlando to North Carolina yesterday, leaving on Tuesday. I never received an e-mail confirming the flight.

    They kept calling, asking me to send them the Credit Card Form (with sensitive info) i never did cause i thought that was too risky.

    I tried looking up on US Airways with the confirmation code Smartfares.com gave me over the phone, and nothing was booked under that code!

    I e-mailed and called them numerous times. Once i got the chance to speak to a representative, and told him about how the confirmation number didn't show up at the Airline site, they hanged up on me!

    Couple of hours later, they finally answered my email with the correct confirmation number! But sent me a link of some weird page with the confirmation info.

    Horrible experience! Don't ever use this site for booking flights, it's definitely not safe!

    No e-mail was ever sent about payment not going through, plus credit card had sufficient funds.Luckily I am staying with family and did not book hotel and rental car for the specific dates. ITS A SCAM! They offer to rebook, but of course ticket is now hundreds of dollars more!!

    No pros, except they apparently cancelled the entire transaction at my insistence about an hour or so later. Purchase Terms and Conditions are full of restriction, fees, procedures. On hold for over half an hour, for routine airfare booking. They tried to sell me travel insurance at booking time and later, by calling me back.

    They are the single worst company ever used

    My mother tried to book a ticket through them. As she lives abroad, she was prompted to fax a copy of her passport and both sides of her debit card to Smartfares, which she refused, as it is very unsafe. We were told, that without those extras, she cannot get the ticket, because they cannot charge her, however, because she already ‘booked’, if she cancels, she would have to pay $75 fee. So I decided to put it on my US card. Then they figured out, that because of their own system doesn’t take the special letter (a with acute) my parents have in their name, I would have to pay $90 name changing fee, per person. And the very rude person figured that out when I was telling him my name. I told him that we need to put in our name the way it stands in the passport, but he wouldn’t care. So I could choose between paying $75, paying $180 or giving out all personal information.

    I have traveled to the whole world in the last 15 years and nobody has ever asked for me faxing a copy of my passport for them in order to get a plane ticket. I am so very angry.

    Terrible customer service!!!

    Smartfares has given me such a run-around on my refund! I have tried calling them daily every day for a week, and have either been on hold for upwards of 40 minutes, or, the one time I DID speak with someone, she was incredibly rude. This company owes me 200.00 and once I do receive it, I will never EVER use them again.

    BEWARE. THEY TELL U THEY CANT CONFIRM PRICES UNTIL THE AIRLINES DOES... why do u think they offer that $35 dollar insurance.. .its' to screw you.

    website shows u one price, asks you for your info then tell you that the flight is not available. flights do book and i understand that but. not after trying 5 times. the customer service rep blames the airlines but says HERE I CAN CONFIRM YOU A FLIGHT NOT FOR $811 dollars but for $1850 more than double. I complained and she had the never so tell me to book on another date when i am flying for my kid's 6th birthday... i booked 3 days before and 4 days after... are you kidding me. The customer service rep seemed to be used to people being dissatisfied... and continued to be rude nd ask dumb ignorant questions./.NEVER WILL I USE THIS TRAVEL SITE AGAIN>>> YOU ARE WARNED>>>>>!

    I have made a flight reservation on December-12-2012. After the purchase was made, I received an email saying that I shall receive the confirmation ticker number in the 24 hrs. I waited for 6 days and never received any email or confirmation. I have tried calling them several times and the telephone numbers would not even work (most of the time they won’t even connect). I have send emails and finally On December 20-2012, just 2 days before my flight departure, I have received an email informing me that they cannot confirm the reservation because the flight fares have increased and they cancelled my reservation. They did not even tell me fare increase or anything; they just cancelled my flight reservation. After spending 12 hours of continuous calling on December-20-2012, a representative answered the call without even mentioning her name and when I ask her name, she hangs up the call. In the end after calling them so many times and eventually when she knew it was their fault for not informing me about the cancellation until a week, she started to place on several holds and finally she disconnected abruptly. The flight charges on December 20th tripled from the day I wanted to make a reservation. On December 12 the flight fare on most websites was around $110 and on December 20th when I want to book the ticket price became $300 plus. I have to bare the extra fare increase because they never cared to inform me until the last minute. This America and why no legal system is taking care of their fraud /scam????

    The worst service I've ever had.

    I booked a ticket to China for $1175. But I found out 2 hours before the flight that my visa is expired, so I called them and trying the change the ticket to a week later so I will have the visa ready. I called their office before my flight, no one answered the phone until after 10am mountain time. My nightmare start. Their staffs were so slow to response, and every time I called them, it will take 15-30 minute to get some one to answer the phone, and they would say "you need to check your e-mail". They always will reply me in several hours, so 3 days were gone and the problem has not been solved. They said would charge me $375 changing fee, and $404 of the fare difference, but I check the airline's own website, and smartfare's website, the fare difference is only $285. I asked them if I have other option of canceling the ticket and rebook( since it will be cheaper than their option), or leave the credit in my account for future booking, and getting no response from them. MY big lesson, NEVER work with this agent. The best choice is going through the airline directly.

    This company is ridiculous. They sent a confirmation email and I didn't have internet after. I assumed everything was all right. I input my Discover credit card info which was a valid option on the site. I showed up at the airport and they said they didn't accept my credit card. Looking back at my email when I finally got internet, they sent a message to me 8 HOURS after having sent the original CONFIRMATION number. I was stuck paying the price increase at the airport and luckily there were seats. When I returned home I called only to be yelled at by a guy who had hard to understand English. Then he hung up on me! What a ridiculous excuse for a company. They should be put out of business. Don't ever book with this company unless you want to get upset! WARNING!

    Non Merry Christmas present from Smartfares.com

    On Dec 23, 2013 I received an email confirmation for my wife's flight from La Paz, Bolivia to Seattle, WA. This was a trip that we had to book last minute due to a family emergency in which my wife had to return to the US to assist our family. The cost of the ticket was $1590. On Dec 24, 2013 (Christmas Eve), the day after I had already received my email confirmation, I received a voice mail asking me to call the Smartfares call center. When I called, I was informed that my flight had been canceled. After further discussing the issue with the person on the phone, it wasn't that the flight had been canceled by the airline (LAN) but rather that Smartfares did not want to sell the tickets to me at the confirmed price. I was told that if I wanted to stay on the same flight I would need to pay $2300. That was not the Christmas present I was looking for. After explaining to several people that I had a flight confirmation and that I was very upset about this - they “graciously” reduced the final fair to $1657. The call operator then told me "you're welcome." I guess she assumed that I was pleased being called on Christmas Eve, being told my flight was canceled, and then given the same flight for an increase of $67. This is the poorest business practice that I have ever seen from any travel company. Do Not book a ticket with Smartfares.com.

    IT IS A FRAUD!!!

    Like all the other reviewers on this site I too (unfortunately) was scammed by smartfares.com

    I booked my ticket and got a confirmation email. Three days later they sent a new email saying that the airline had cancelled the ticket. But I contacted the airline and they said they Smartfares.com had never even bought the ticket.

    Instead Smartfares.com had charged my $75 as a "cancellation fee".

    Then they called me up and said that I could order the ticket again over the phone. But now (surprise...) the ticket was $200 more expensive...!

    NEVER USE Smartfares.com! Now you are warned :(

    BAD Do not book with this company!!

    Every Time I tried to book a flight on line that was posted it would come back that I needed to call smart fares and then they would tell me that the fare and flight was gone. Even though it was still listed on their site. They did this twice to me and then wanted to charge me 200.00 more than I was trying to book the flight for.

    The Worst Flight Agency EVER

    They made a mistake in writing the first name and then tried to charge me for $300. I am still dealing with this issue right now, but I just wanted to let you all know how terrible is their services. It has already taken 1 complete day of me to fix this issue.

    Sta Far Far AWAY from this SERVICE!!!

    Smartfares rip us off!!! We paid $200 extra to change our tickets which were their fault! Then almost cheated us out of our insurance policy. They are unreachable at best and have people answering the phones in another country you can't even understand them!They don't stand behind anything!! SAVE your money and mind by looking elsewhere to another site.There rating is a 0

    DO NOT BUY!

    Have been on the phone dealing with SmartFares.com for the past 2 hours. They have directed me to four different websites, and told me different rules and regulations depending on which person I talked to. They also charged me more than the stated price of the ticket. DO NOT use this site.
