While I was satisified with the product, the threads on my pedals wore out after riding the bike only four times. When I took the bike to a repair shop, they said it was a manufacturing defect. I tried to contact Randall Scott regarding this, as they supposedly guarantee 100% customer satisfaction. After numerous emails, I realized that it takes them many days to respond to emails or phone messages, and they offer no customer support for their products whatsoever. I was disappointed with the customer service.

RANDALL SCOTT "RS" DOES NOT BACK ITS PRODUCTS

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A HIGH-END BICYCLE FROM RANDALL SCOTT BICYCLES IN BOULDER COLORADO. THERE WAS A LATENT CONDITION IN THE CRANK - A MISSING WASHER. I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOW ABOUT THE MISSING WASHER HAD THE CRANK BOLT NOT BEEN SUFFICIENTLY TIGHTENED BEFORE THE BIKE WAS SHIPPED TO ME. AFTER ABOUT 500 MILES OF RIDING, I HEARD A LOUD "CLUNKING" NOISE FROM THE BOTTOM BRACKET AREA. I EMAILED RS AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE BIKE IN TO A BIKE SHOP - SINCE I DON'T LIVE IN BOULDER. THE BIKE MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT THE CRANK INFORMED ME OF THE TWO PROBLEMS MENTIONED ABOVE. I WAS CHARGED $30 TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

I CONTACTED RS TO ASK FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THEY HAD SEVERAL RESPONSES:

1) I DIDN'T HAVE THEM PRE-ASSEMBLE THE BIKE, SO NOT THEIR PROBLEM;

2) IF I HAD PAID THEM ABOUT $60 BUCKS TO PRE-ASSEMBLE THE BIKE, THEY WOULD HAVE REMOVED THE CRANK AND COULD HAVE INSTALLED THE MISSING WASHER;

3) I DIDN'T HAVE THE BIKE PROFESSIONALLY ASSEMBLED UPON RECEIPT, SO NOT THEIR PROBLEM;

4) THEY DIDN'T INSTALL THE CRANK, THE MANUFACTURER DID, SO IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM.

MY RESPONSE: TAKE A LOOK AT THE U-TUBE VIDEO THE RS WEBSITE. THEY WOULD NOT HAVE REMOVED THE CRANK (THEY LIED ME). THE CRANK WAS JUST TIGHT ENOUGH WHEN I RECEIVED THE BIKE THAT AN EXPERT MECHANIC WOULD NOT HAVE NOTICED IT.

MY OPINION - STAY AWAY FROM RANDALL SCOTT - THEY ARE LONG ON EXCUSES AND SHORT ON CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I just received an iron horse 4.0 mountain bike that I ordered online from the randall scott website. I ordered the "pro assembly" and I am extremely pissed off!!! They didn't stretch the cables, they didn't adjust the brakes, they didn't even adjust the gears!! all they did was air up the tires!! they didn't inspect or test ride the bike either!! the fricken bike had a major defect with the front derailleur!! THIS BIKE WON'T EVEN RIDE!!!! I have gotten better tuned bicycles from WALMART...at least they run for a few months before crapping out. And I read the return policy and pro build assembly is non refundable!!! It is late right now and I can't get a hold of customer service until tomorrow. I am EXTREMELY PISSED OFF!!! Don't buy bicycles from randall scott company, they take your money and send you a box of crap.
