Family Share Plan

About 7 months ago, I switched the whole family from AT&T and ordered 4 SIM cards for my 4 unlocked iPhones. I signed up for the PureTalk Family Flex Plan. The four SIM cards came in the mail in less than a week and I called them that day to port the numbers. After a few minutes of setting it up on the phone, the lady on the other end (probably from Atlanta) said that the numbers would be ported within 24 hours. They were ported by the time I got home from work.. very nice. They have a strange billing system.. not bad, just not well explained. Depending on how many minutes I have left that month, I will get charged between $25 (minimum) and $55 (maximum). You set the spending cap and you can adjust how many minutes everyone has (which I like). I have been so pleased with them that i have recommended the service to two of my friends. I have heard that their customer service was bad, but I have not had to speak with them since I set this service up. SO far.. so very good!

Pros:
  • Cheap

  • no contract

  • BYOD (bring your own device)

  • ATT cell towers (lots of towers)

  • easy setup and maintenance
  • Cons:
  • slow customer service on phone

  • strange billing (not well explained)

It does take a long time to get your sim card and/or phone once you ordered from their website. It was about 3 weeks before I received my new phone and sim card from them. They use refurbished phones and unfortunately I had to send my phone back for another one which took 2 weeks and it did not work either, it has been over 5 weeks and I am still waiting for the return shipping label to send this second phone back, they keep saying it is coming. I ended up buying a ATT Go phone. If you go with them I suggest getting only the sim card and going to get your own phone. The reception is clear and the phone works more places than my previous Sprint works. I would give it more stars but getting the phones just took way too long.

placed an order for a new phone on 12/23/10 of which I intend to port my current provider's cell phone number. On Tuesday 1/5/2011 I contacted customer service by phone since I had heard nothing from PureTalk about the phone or service.

The CSR was very helpful and when she looked up the account saw that according to her tracking number it was scheduled for delivery on or around 1/6/2011.

I again called last week 1/13/2011 and was promised a return phone call to follow up when there was an update and how the issue would be addressed.

Today 1/19/2011 I called and got the exact same answer “you’re phone has been shipped and is in transit.” At this point I have requested the order cancelled and a refund issued. The CSR gave me a ticket number and said that it would take at least 2 weeks for this credit to be issued.

    Very bad customer service

I've used puretalk voice/data/texting for 7 months now. When everything is working fine, it's ok and cheap. However, whenever you need technical support, it's terrible. Their staff keeps you on hold sometimes for nearly an hour, and when you get through, they're clueless. I'm looking around for other options.

    Puretalk received a 1 because I couldn't give a negativ

My daughter has a cell phone and used to get 150 minutes per month. After about 8 months she had a credit of over 1,000 minutes. Because of an inability to call out she gave up that service. She bought 120 minutes from Pure Talk. After 1 week she is out of minutes according to Pure Talk (can't see that on her account online) but she is told no more calls available. Something is wrong -- a blind man can see that. How is it possible that one company has minutes left over at the end of every month and no major change in usage, but another company says out of minutes in one week? Look on pure talk's website and all the reviews are glowing -- really? Lets tell the whole story, your company STINKS and the world deserves to know about it.

    Pros:
  • You can call out on the phone for a week.
  • Cons:
  • No compensation if the phone is hacked. Company can not prove that the calls were actually made and they don't really want to. I won't do business with thieves.

This is such a great deal for me. I only use a cell phone a few minutes a month, but enough that Virgin Mobile's per minute rate was becoming an issue. PureTalk USA is $10 per month for 101 minutes (9.9 cents a minute, and all the unused minutes roll over each month. The phones are GSM that run on AT&T's network so I have good coverage most of the places I go. The only issue I have is that they do not have roaming agreements in areas without AT&T coverage, so the coverage area is limited in some places. (Otherwise I'd give them 5 stars.)

    Great Company!

I have the unlimited plus plan ($43.99 for 1GB of data and 600mms)and my husband has the basic flex plan (130 minutes that roll over every month for $10). We bought our own unlocked phones (mine is a Samsung Android 3G). You do NOT have to pay for a regular, or mini, SIM card. If your phone needs a micro Sim, there is a $4.95 charge. My husband easily ported his old number from Verizon to Pure Talk in a matter of minutes.

They use the ATT network, so I have great coverage. Because we are not major cell phone users (we mainly use the data plan for the internet and apps like Google maps when we are traveling) this the cheapest plan for us by far. We were paying over $70 to Verizon for talk only, no data. I am very glad to be contract free.

I have found customer service to be friendly and helpful. And they speak perfect English. Their technical help is also very helpful. My first phone had a defective browser and they helped me diagnose the problem. The first time I used customer server (2 years ago) I did have to wait 20 minutes, but after that, wait time was about 5 minutes.

I am completely satisfied with Pure Talk.

    Pros:
  • Cheap talk
  • text and date for those who are not on their phones 24/7.
  • Cons:
  • None

PureTalk USA has been an awesome find! It has saved us hundreds of dollars. No contract. Great service. Very reasonable prices on plans that make sense for average users. This virtual network operator bills in $10 increments up to a max of $50 per month. They also offer an unlimited plan for $48 per month. Soon, they'll offer data. Any phone that works on AT&T works on PureTalk USA, including every iPhone before iPhone 4, which has an incompatible SIM card. I understand they'll be offering data plans in the near future.

Puretalk saves me over $350 a year

I am a retired AT&T engineer. I get a 30% discount on all AT&T products, and the cheapest cell phone service I can get from them is over $35 a month with my discount.

I live in an area that nobody can receive cell service from any provider. I am a cancer patient that needs a cell phone when going for treatment, and just a few minutes a month.

I did a lot of research, and found Puretalk the one that would meet my needs. $10 for 130 minutes a month, and they use AT&T for their signal provider. They buy millions of wholesale minutes a month, and then resell them to us. AT&T has probably the best footprint of service (map that serves areas)in the nation.

I have had Puretalk for over 18 months, and have accumulated over 1,200 minutes of available service since any time I do not use rolls over to the next month. I did purchase from Ebay a Samsung Windows smart phone, and use it for talk, and occasional text. I use the smartphone with Wi-fi service at home, and other locations Wi-fi is available.

Two of my friends have changed to Puretalk, and they are very happy.

    Pros:
  • great service
  • great price
  • good for someone needing occasional service
  • great signal coverage area
  • Cons:
  • After 18 months still looking for one.

Great customer relations person/I loved him

I have had T Mobile for several months and have had nothing but pain and aggrevation. I was unable to use my phone at home about 99% of the time. Yesterday I call Pure Talk after signing up with them about a week ago and I got the most considerate, understanding and very business conscious man I have ever dealt with. His name is Quartavius and he walked me through every bit of what I had to do and actually did it all for me. I had many problems to deal with but he hung in there even though it took many phone calls and about 3 1/2 hours. He stayed with me and made sure I got set up and got my old number ported over. Thank you so much. I will refer them to everyone I know.

    Order Date: 2014-08-20

    Pros:
  • Received the Sim card within 3 days and got installed on the same day I received the card

    No problems/Good service

I've had Pure Talk for three months now, using an unlocked IPhone3s. So far, I'm very satisfied. Call quality here in Southern California is the same as when I had AT&T, texting is reliable, and data runs smoothly. Customer service has been great. For both the phones I switched, it took less than two hours for my phone number to be ported from AT&T to Pure Talk. When I had problems with data at first, it took less than ten minutes for the tech (based in the US) to correct it. Why pay AT&T when you can get the same service for a fraction of the price. One drawback ... no international roaming including no service in Mexico or Canada.

    Bad experience

I saw the positive reviews and decided to buy a smartphone and plan from puretalk Usa. They do not provide the cellphones, in fact they work with quality one wireless, which prices are higher than Amazon! I checked with customer service before I order the phone, they said that smart phones are brand new. a week after I placed the order I received a used cellphone. I called them right a way and asked for return label. The quality one wireless customer service is the worst. Still after almost a month I have not received my money back! I think puretalk has to find another cellphone supplier since this company ruins their reputation.

    Fantastic Company

I really don't understand the negative reviews. I bought a cell phone locally and signed up for PureTalk USA. My sim card came within a week. I contacted customer service to activate service. I got right through and they were extremely helpful. I've this plan for 2 years and have never had a problem with reception in any area I've been in. I absolutely love this company. I've also recommended friends and they love it too!

  • Affordable monthly rate
  • roll-over minutes
  • great reception
  • great customer service

Don't blast a company for your own ignorance

I am writing this review ONLY to help compensate for the low ratings left by idiots who don't understand a darn thing about sim cards. If you sign up for a phone service with a carrier that you have not used before, you WILL be required to get a sim card from them -- that's just how it works. Numbers can be ported to different cards, but sim cards are carrier-specific. Anyone who's upset at 'being forced' to buy a sim card (at the whopping price of what? Five dollars or something? Wow, what a deal breaker ...) is being unrealistic, and doesn't understand much about phones and phone service. Ignore their rants.

I will be a puretalk customer within a week. I came here to check reviews ... it's pretty clear to me that more than 50% of the negative reviews are from people who don't pay attention to what they're doing.

    BAD BAD SERVICE

Received IPHONE as a present, contacted PureTalk and was told I would have to BUY a SIM card before WE could get service. This was BS.. Contacted Straight Talk and was in service almost immediately. Changed Sim Card from a working phone and put it in the old phone and it would not work Contacted PureTalk and was told that we would have to buy a new phone. We asked if they could terminate our service and that was the only GOOD info we received from PureTalk.

My daughter has Straight Talk. You have to buy a sim card from them too to use their service. No matter what! You did not just call them and get service immediately.
I'm sorry, but your comment made no sense...you called Pure Talk, then you called Straight Talk. You didn't buy a sim card, you did. You put one in an 'old' phone...wha???

    Can't Get A Credit!!

I signed up for PureTalk USA service & phone on 5/31/11. Seven days later they dropped the price of the phone I purchased by $15.00 and offered a 35% discount for a Father's Day promotion. When I called to ask for a credit for the $23.73 total difference, I was told "NO", there was nothing they could do to credit me even though I had only missed the deal by 7 days. Next, I emailed their CSR dept. and asked for a supervisor to review my situation--was told no again. I would strongly recommend staying away from this provider--they just don't care about customer service--PERIOD!!

you're a special kind of stupid, aren't you? Would you expect ANY kind of company to do this? If something goes on sale AFTER you purchase it, NO company is going to extend the sale price to you. That is just how it works!
No one does that. really??? Some people are just crazy. Get a life.

I have had PureTalkUSA for almost 2 years and had no problems porting a number & signing up for automatic $10 charges to my credit card. My cell phone cost went from $40 a month to $10 a month. (I did purchase extra minutes to start with.) Reception is excellent and I used an older phone I no longer needed previously. I highly recommend PureTalkUSA!!

Customer service is none. Always a long wait on hold, then getting disconnected and after getting thru you will be disappointed again. My experience after 3 weeks of opening & porting a number over has and is a nightmare. I still have no phone service after 3 weeks. Company is unresponsive and could careless if you leave. You get what you pay for. I went with T-Mobile and got a better rate than with Puretalk. Stay away from these 3rd party company that are at AT&T mercy. My recommendation, if you want to go cheap go with Virgin or T-Mobile, at least you won't get ripped off.

I love it so far. 40$ a month for unlimited talk and text with no extra taxes is saving me 45$ a month over verizon. I bought a iphone from craigslist for 175$, dropped the sim in hit the activation button on the website, turned the phone on and whala! A iphone for 40 bucks a month. the no data is not a huge deal with my wifi at home and at work. Also more reception bars then I ever had with the verizon network.

    Puretalk

The service and plan, seem very good. I use a iPhone 3GS, I have the $10.00 basic plan. I don't use the phone much and I can usually find Wifi when I need it. The assisted GPS works well for off line maps ('mapswithme' or 'youneedamap'). I have had no trouble with customer service. 'Call, listen to music while waiting enjoy, be connected to a rep. In about 15-30 mins.

I have never had anyone but American sounding customer contacts with Puretalk. I am a retired AT&T engineer, and can tell you that the signal strength you get from Puretalk is exactly what you get from AT&T. That is because it is AT&T towers that Puretalk buys millions of minutes from every month at a wholesale price, and then repackages them to us. I live where no providers cell phone signal works, but I need one when I go for cancer treatments in Houston, Texas. Even with my 30% employee discount the cheapest AT%T service I can buy is over $35 a month. I have been on Puretalk for over 18 months now, and no complaints. For $10 a month I get 130 minutes, and what I don't use rolls over to tthe next month. I now have over 1,200 minutes accumulated. Unlike the other companies that take advantage of you by high prices for additional minutes, Puretalk just charges you another $10 for another 130 minutes. It is a winner for me, and many of my neghbors have changed to them.

Do not buy from this company

I bought a cell phone at Amazon, that came with this sim card, I activated it in another phone, and the representative told me I could choose to have a plan or a prepaid plan,so I said I will talk later. I talked later in the week and a very rude representative told me it was impossible , if I wanted a plan I had to buy another sim card, but the worse part, I was told this after I gave the guy my credit card, so they just took the money for a sim card which I explicitly told the guy I did not want one, I already had one, I only wanted the plan, the flexplan, and when I complained, they told me it would take five business days to return the money, It is a a rip off be careful with these people.

    Pros:
  • The pros it works in my area.
  • Cons:
  • They lied to me.I do not want to deal with a company you cannot trust. One representative said one thing another
  • something different I cancelled everything
  • it seems they do not appreciate their customers.

Idiot! If you had any common sense at all, you should know you have to use the company's own SIM card. How do you think they get their service to you? Not with someone elses SIM card!

I thought unlimited talk and text for $39.99, no taxes was a joke, but yes these people are in serious business. With AT&T gophone network as backbone PuretalkUSA has crystal clear call quality and no contract frills. Fortunately they are located in US reaching customer service in Georgia an easy thing. Keep looking for their combo signup offers that will kick start your cellphone bill savings into action!

    Family flex plan

Puretalk USA is the best phone service we found. For two sim cards only $15 a month and receive more roll over every month. Dropped at&t wireless and saved over $45 a month and no more worry of increase for one thing to another. With Puretalk USA it is one price only and no surprises. Their website is excellent to watch minutes and transfer the minutes from one phone to the other. Very clear reception.

    Pros:
  • Clear voice reception
  • great service
  • great website available to manage minutes
  • great value and affordable

LOVING Pure Talk so far...will update if that changes

OK - I RARELY do a 'plug' like this, but here goes... Two weeks ago, on 11/5/14, my husband and I switched our cell phone service from Verizon to Pure Talk USA. We did this because our 12-year-old 'workhorse' cell phone that we loved stopped working.... but only because VERIZON switched most of their towers to accommodate data, rather than talk. However, the only reason WE ever USED our phone (we only had just the one between us!) was to talk. Not for texting, not for web-surfing. Just talking. And not even that, much. We were still paying about $30/month for the little talking we did. We did get 'rollover minutes' - IF there were any minutes left at the end of the month after paying .30 per minute connection charge for each call, plus .12 or .15 per minute after that. And btw, Verizon didn't even let us know about the tower updates - we thought it was our phone until we paid a visit to the Verizon store to see if there was something they could do. Nope, we'd need a new phone. We could buy one there, they had various prepaid plans... Ummm... no, if we have to get a new phone, I guess we'll look around, thank you very much. Bottom line - after a few days of online research, I found Pure Talk USA. For us, it's almost too good to be true. We chose a family plan (Order#xxxxx82169). Just $20 per month pays for THREE phones, with 450 minutes split between them (and you can rejuggle the minutes any time during the month - and ALL the minutes roll over - EVERY month!). I also ordered 400 MB of data and 200 MMS on one phone for $9.95, because yes, I finally broke down and bought my first smart phone! :) And the other two phones? Samsung flip phones - FREE from PureTalk. Nothing fancy, they will make and receive calls, have an address book, voice mail... just the basics. But... FREE! Finally... about the service - I was a little worried that the price might mean really BAD service (even though the reviews I could find were mostly good). So far, I have to say I'm more impressed with this company than almost any company I've dealt with in the last decade. I chose to purchase an unlocked smart phone locally, and needed help with activating it - then needed to call again, when the other phones arrived, because we wanted to 'port' the number and I wasn't sure how to do that. BOTH times, I got a real person within two to three minutes. A few days later, after my son sent a photo that I couldn't download on my smart phone, I had to call again to ask about the settings for that. Again, a real person within a couple of minutes. And EVERY SINGLE TIME, the person I spoke with was, without exception, polite, friendly, helpful, and spent as much time as needed to resolve the issue and/or answer my questions. Bottom line - if you're a person who doesn't need TRUE 'unlimited data' (at $39.95/month their 'unlimited' plan is still only 1G of data), do yourself a favor and at least check them out. The plans are straightforward and easy to understand, and start at just $5/month. And us? If you can add... we're basically paying the same amount per month to PureTalk that we USED to pay to Verizon - but for three phones, a LOT more minutes, plus some data and MMS! What's not to like about that? :)

Bought: Family Plan, with 3 lines. 2 Free Samsung Flip phones from PureTalk, plus an unlocked smart phone purchased locally.

Great for a senior citizen looking for an inexpensive phone. for

I just bought my first ever cell phone from Puretalk. I had always thought I would never want or need a cell phone, but as a senior citizen with disabilities, I decided having one for emergency use was needed. After shopping around, I saw that Puretalk had a plan for only $5 a month, with 50 minutes. And to my surprise, they even offered a free cellphone to boot. I received the phone in only 4 days after ordering it. When I had it activated, I was concerned that the phone # they gave me was in a different area code than where I live. So I emailed customer service, and much to ny surprise, received a call from them one day later, on a Sunday. And the person was very helpful, explaining to me that there was a shortage of cell phone numbers, etc. She did manage to get me one in the proper area code, although not the proper prefix for my town, as none were available. So I am delighted with the cheap $5/Month insurance this phone provides, and the customer service so far is above average.

    Order Date: 2014-09-01

    Date Received: 2014-09-05

    Pros:
  • $5 a month for 50 minutes
  • FREE PHONE
  • good customer service
  • good coverage (AT&T)
  • Cons:
  • Only that the phone instruction manual
  • only available on line
  • is around 80 pages long
  • and makes my head hurt trying to understand how to use the phone. This is in no way the fault of Puretalk
  • just that as an older person with his first cell phone
  • it is a little complicated.

    WORST.CUSTOMER.SERVICE.EVER.

Yes, the phone service is cheap but they have the worst customer service ever! Because my debit card was stolen and was unable to pay the monthly plan on time, they deactivated my phone. When I called back and tried to activated it, they informed me that I owe them $90 fee aside from the $10 activation fee because I was ten days late. WHO DOES THAT?! They never told me that had such a policy and it's not like I intended to pay my monthly fee late. And the guy that was on the phone with me was such an asshole. I ended up cancel the service. Never again, not worth it. Don't get it.

    Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had this family plan for a couple years. I like the roll over minutes. I do not use my cell phone much so this is a great plan for me. I now have over 1500 minutes but if for some reason I go over the minutes they will kick me up to the next plan automatically. If I only use one minute of the next plan they will credit my roll over account with those minutes. If I do not exceed my amount for that month they will knock it back down to the lower rate. I love this company. Much better that At&T customer service too. My friend now has over 3500 roller minutes that do not expire. Can't go wrong if you are a sporadic cell phone user.

    Order Date: 2012-11-14

    Pros:
  • cheap
  • roll over minutes
  • minutes don't expire
  • no contract
  • good customer service
  • Cons:
  • none so far

    Great service

I have PureTalk now for one year; I bought a smartphone w/wifi from them and subscribed to the $10/mo. service. I didn't want a data plan; for $10/mo, I get 130 minutes, which never expire and roll over every month. I get service in places that Verizon does not. I am very happy with the service and have recommended it to 3 friends. I have never had an issue with customer service, never. Every time I've called, I've gotten someone with a minimal waiting time.

Bought: $10 month plan; LG smartphone

    Order Date: 2012-08-01

    Pros:
  • great service; no contract; low monthly cost
  • minutes roll over
  • Cons:
  • None.

I have had the same experience. I am a retired AT&T engineer, and can tell you this is the same service area as AT&T shows on their map since Puretalk uses the AT&T equipment.

You must have had data overages. Their website clearly states that overages cost $10 per 100 MB. That is not their fault, my friend. Next time keep close watch over your data usage.

    Paying to receive call

Do not forget that you will pay to receive calls. If you like to cut cost and diminish your outgoing call, don’t forget that you have to pay to receive calls as well. Now if you like to have full services with email internet browsing, $10.00 will be good for couple days. No good.

    Pros:
  • None
  • Cons:
  • Do not want to pay to receive calls.

Everyone, except a land line, charges time for incoming calls.
I've had prepaid for 7 years and all of them take away for calls made and received.... That's prepaid. If you don't like it, you will have to go with an unlimited plan (which is still cheaper that the 2yr contracts)

    Has not arrived

I paid the extra FedEx charge to have the phone delivered today, the day my land line in my home office is being disconnected due to retirement. I was working in the front yard at the time FedEx claims it was delivered to my front door. I never saw a FedEx truck. This is not the fault of PureTalk USA but it makes me wish I'd just bought a phone locally.

    Pros:
  • Roll over minutes
    Inexpensive
  • Cons:
  • FedEx failed to deliver it
