Never responded to my refund request- Lost $150!!

I paid $150 for a photography session in West Hollywood, CA, which included a cd of all the photos taken and a few prints (4x6). It sounded like a great deal until the photographer cancelled our appointments several times without notice. My husband and I would show up (driving 45 minutes to get there) and each time the photographer had some kind of excuse as to why she could not shoot us that day. Realizing this was a scam, I contacted lifebooker who responded one time, three months ago, about getting the refund. Since then, I've followed up four times and have yet to receive a response. Two weeks ago, I tried e-mailing, calling (leaving voicemails) but nothing works!. Now I'm out $150 which is an insane amount of money that is rightfully mine! I wish there was a way I could get in touch with them. If anyone can suggest something, that would be great!! Point is- if you are paying for a service that is not given to you, then you deserve a refund! Isn't it illegal to advertise a service, take money for it and then not return it when the service is not given?

Pros:
  • ****!NONE!***
  • Cons:
  • Lie about services

  • No customer service
  • I have no idea why they advertise a customer service phone number when clearly there is no customer service!

    Hi Alexis,

I hope that you get to read these. The merchant has sent me emails about a refund. Hopefully this is accurate and they will post. I hope you received a refund. All the best.
I'm going to contact the BBB about them if they don't give me a response. The company I have certificates for began acting shady and then fell off the map. The one time I spoke to someone, she said LB wasn't paying them. I've called and I've only got a prompt to leave a message. I've sent an email and am waiting for a response.

    SUE THEM

Lifebooker are a bunch of scam artists and thieves i doubt they will be in business much longer- the only spas and business they hook up with are very poor ones or non existent- i will not prepay anything with them - i had hell woth jeniette day spa who made an appt for a spa mani pedi and later refused to serve the contract because i complained jeniette is a dump and $25 it was not worth spa quality - after stealing my money they refuse to refund the cc - i went to the bbb and nys dept of state - they cannot go on taking money and giving nothing

    Pros:
  • NONE
  • Cons:
  • They create slick ads but none of the services they advertise are what they are- example wellness center is a single masseuse with a massage table in a tiny room in flatiron - they are scam artists through and through- there's something wrong with everything they promote

ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT! POOR BUSINESS ETHICS AND DECEPTIVE!

On 7/25/2012, I purchased a $99 spa package for 3 VelaShape procedures (non-invasive cosmetic procedure) from LifeBooker.com. On 8/8/2012, I received my initial spa treatment at BioSkinergy (55 Central Park W. Ste 1B. NY, NY 10023) and as a result, noticed that I had burn lacerations on my abdominal area one day following the procedure. I immediately contacted BioSkinergy (lodging an addt'l complaint for the aforementioned merchant) and informed them of my findings only to be hung up on and forwarded to their automated voicemail system. Naturally, I then contacted the primary merchant-- said, LIFEBOOKER LLC, via telephone and email (left several messages) l to inform them of the adverse occurrences (I never signed any waiver accepting the incidence of skin burns, etc) and requested a refund for the voucher, as I had no desire to utilize the two remaining vouchers purchased. My communication attempts were continually evaded by LIFEBOOKER's customer service team and they failed to contact me and/or furnish me with a refund prior to 8/28/2012 (refund still pending). As a final step toward resolution, I contacted my bank )Wells Fargo) and opened a dispute claim-- only to be informed that the transaction was processed as a MONTHLY RECURRING DEBIT in which I never consented to. For this reason, I am contacting the BBB, as this company is clearly using deceptive business tactics to siphon funds from unsuspecting consumers. After 20 days, I was finally successful in contacting the primary supervisor at LIFEBOOKER ("Ariane") and after reviewing my case, agreed to furnish me with a complete refund of $99, which I have been assured will post to my account in 5-7 business days. If this fails to happen, I will not hesitate to address the matter in person at their corporate office. The amount is trivial, but the principal behind revealing this deceptive and fraudulent business is my primary motivation. Aside from a full refund and apology, I feel as if some sort of complimentary service or gift card for a beauty service (a SAFE procedure) is apropos as this issue took entirely too long to resolve. I truly had to employ fierce persistence for these people to assist me-- when I was the burned and dissatisfied customer!

They should have refunded the funds when they initially received my complaint and contacted BioSkinergy regarding the matter. Period! For me to have to exhaust various channels for a simple outcome is absolutely appalling... but for them to store credit card information and charge intended one-time purchases as recurring monthly debits is an unlawful practice!

NOW-- It is October 16, 2012 and I am still being yoked about with Lifebooker's customer service! I have yet to receive my refund, which was supposed to have been processed months ago and ARIANE, in particular, is double dealing/deceptive! She has been warned that not only will I push my BBB investigation to the hilt, I will also contact major news broadcasts in NYC that have specialty features that focus on scam investigations. Additionally, I am researching Change.Org to see if I can launch a petition re: this business. Their practices are unlawful and their doors need to be closed permanently. I spoke with ARIANE today and she has assured me that I will receive my credit in 5-7 days (promised to send a verification receipt that I can track thru bank)... I still have NOT received that email! STAY AWAY FROM THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY!

    Cons:
  • Deceptive
  • poor customer service
  • failure to refund
  • charges CC as a recurring debit instead of one-time charge
  • poor business acumen
  • utilizes sub-par businesses

    Maria,

You're the first reviewer I've come across that is actually taking action against this company. I too have been cheated by them and am looking to take action. If you make any progress, I would love to be kept updated.

    HORRIBLE Customer Service

Awful people, awful customer service, they never get back to you, and when I asked to close my account because I was dissatisfied with the service I immediately got an email informing me my account was closed, and also telling me to write them if I have any other concerns. Of course when I did I got no reply. DISGUSTING business practices, and the companies they represent for these discounts are mean and crooked also. TOPANGA CANYON, WOODLAND HILLS, "THE NAIL CAFE" I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU.

    Pros:
  • None
  • Cons:
  • Worst customer service I have ever encountered and that's saying something! I have had better customer service experiences with debt collectors.Lifebooker represents shady companies offering these so-called "discounts" or "loot"Overall worst experience ever

    Lifebooker sucks!

I purchased laser hair removal from European skin care center. I got there on my first appointment and was told that the laser (in fact IPL) machine has been broken for a few days. I met another customer who had called the day before to confirm her appointment and was now being told the same. The second person I met was having treatment to correct an IPL induced burn. I've been trying to get a refund or credit from lifebooker but it's not looking like I will get anywhere. I plan to just go to AMEX and let them dispute it. Save your money and do not use this company. They are crooks!

    Pros:
  • Cheap
  • Cons:
  • Bad customer service. No refunds
  • Don't answer calls

    Horrid customer service

    1/5/12

I'd give them zero stars if i could. I purchased Laser hair removal (LHR) from them . It was a $229 for 4 areas at European Skin Care Center in NYC. First I couldn't get the company to pick up the phone to place the appointment . When I finally did I went it to find a filthy dirty office. 1. They didn't use a paper liner in between customers , just a dirty blanket. 2. They didn't offer we protective eyewear. 3. I googled the treatment when I got home and saw that I received IPL instead of LHR. I called the company and told them about it. They promised to get back to me. None did. I emailed someone named Ariane and she started to speak to the company on my behalf. After constant calls and emails Lifebooker decided to refund there portion of the loot about $80. Doesn't that mean that the admit that this was a less then perfect transaction? I was still out about $150. They won't do anything. I was told to dispute it on my credit card. Visa wont refund me because I paid lifebooker but European skin care center didn't service me properly. In other words I'm stuck. Unless I bring them to small claims court. Its been a disaster and I recommend sticking with groupon no matter how big the savings seem.

    Pros:
  • Easy to purchase
  • Cons:
  • Rude & huge scam
  • no one will get back to you and they will take your money and run
  • you can't dispute the changes with your cc because they don't provide the service another company does

I WILL NEVER USE LIFEBOOKER AGAIN!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I have to write this review because i am so mad at how lifebooker is basically stealing money from me. i ordered a maid service and paid the $50 the soonest appointment i could get was three weeks away i waited and waited and then was told by the maid that she was sick and will have to rebook, she left a message with my roommate. we have called her back to reschedule and get no response so we called lifebooker and after telling my roommate they will reschedule and get it worked out and telling him they will call him back and never doing it, then i tried calling them and get the same story she says she has to talk with someone because they never do refunds and needs approval she will call me right back i never got a callback and the next day when i called it went from ringing to busy then i called back and it went straight to voicemail it said they were open until 6 and it was 4pm! then i tried calling the business customer service and was hung up on. would they're really like to steal $50 dollars from and have a me and my roommates never want to do business with them again and tell all their friends to avoid them? is it really worth it what kind of business will sell something they cannot provide or refund you if they don't provide the service? this is basically a scam and im sure they have other businesses they work with that are fine but if this happens you are out of luck and i will never order anything from them again!

    Pros:
  • none if they don't give you a service how could their be
  • Cons:
  • they will not refund
  • they avoid calls from customers they know want a refund
  • they do not check out their businesses first to make sure its legit for the customer

The worst experience and customer service

I booked a hair appointment to have my hair simply cut and blown out at Being in LA through Lifebooker for the day I was leaving for my sister's wedding. At 11pm the night before, I get an email telling me Sasha, my stylist, canceled my appointment because of an emergency. The next morning, I get a call from Sasha telling me she told lifebooker she was going to be on vacation and out of town and it was their fault she had to cancel my appointment, so someone was lying. Then, I go online, flustered and bewildered, and schedule an appointment for the exact same time as my previous appointment, only this time with Cloutier Le Salon. 1 hour later, as I'm leaving my house for the appointment, I get a call from the salon telling me Lifebooker double-booked them and my appointment was canceled and couldn't be fit in until next week. Lifebooker never bothered to actually cancel my appointment, but when I called they told me it was the salon's fault it was double-booked. To top it off, the customer service people on the phone are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I don't usually get angry with customer service people because I realize they just work for the company and it's not their fault, but when you sit there and tell me the exact same sentence over and over again for every single thing I say and ask "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but there's nothing we can do", there is something definitely wrong. Needless to say, I'll never be using Lifebooker again, nor will my friends and family.

    Pros:
  • Good deals and prices
  • Cons:
  • Worst customer service ever!Gives you the run-around
  • Never accepts blame
  • Cancels appointments an hour before the actual appointment
  • Does nothing to compensate customers who have lost time and money because of their actions.

Refused to Refund Money for Sub-Par Services

Here's my last email to them:

    Hi Jenna,

Per our conversation on Monday, the bottom line is you're selling vouchers for a practice that is providing sub-par care/services and I would like a refund. It's not that I HAVE to see Kathy, I want a refund because everyone left at that practice is providing sub-standard services. The only person who seems to have had any expertise, Kathy... is no longer there.

Your account credit is one of the most ridiculous offers I've ever received. THAT WOULD REQUIRE PURCHASING ANOTHER VOUCHER FROM YOUR COMPANY FOR WHAT WILL PROBABLY BE ANOTHER SUB-STANDARD SERVICE PROVIDER. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I EVER WANT TO CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH YOUR COMPANY AGAIN?

I've been in the sales/customer service/marketing industry throughout my career and anyone with a basic understanding of this, knows that customers aren't expecting companies to operate without problems... what they want is companies that excel at resolving them. THAT is the definition of GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, and THAT is what brings a company success. You should take a look at how a company providing similar services is operating... LivingSocial is hugely successful. If I had experienced this problem with a voucher I purchase from them, they would have offered the refund and probably even apologized for the terrible experience I'd had.

The only recourse I have at this point is to share my experience on social networking sites and hope someone will read it and avoid wasting their money on your vouchers. My posts will be up before the day is done on Yelp and Facebook. It's too bad really... I think your company is founded on a great idea, but your execution of the idea is lousy.

    Sincerely,

    Maria

Really don't care about the customer!

I've used lifebooker to buy a few different deals. They were okay, but definitely pale in comparison to the other deal sites. I had an issue with a personal trainer deal. It was only $22. I went to the tiny, tiny location and had a terrible interaction with the personal trainer BEFORE the session even began, so I left. I wasn't going to stick around to work with her for an hour. I complained to Lifebooker, wanting a credit or something and they did an email exchange with the personal trainer. I was told that the personal trainer said she wasn't mean, she was very accommodating, and that I was the one in the wrong and that I was pretty much shit out of luck. At that moment I asked to be removed from any and all emails. I changed my account so I wouldn't receive any emails. I also asked for my account to be closed. I've sent multiple emails, all of which have never been responded to, except the initial one to tell me tough luck. I still receive their deal emails and report them as spam. Not sure what else to do. If you don't have any loot issues, this site will probably be fine, but once you do have an issue, you're screwed!

  • variety of deals

  • customer service

    Awful

I have used other similar services (groupon, living socials, etc) and Lifebooker is the worse. I was having issue with an order, I emailed, and they told me to call. I call and I have to leave several messages and I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. I waited a few days, then emailed again, and a few days later: NO ANSWER. Really bad services. I will not deal with them again and would give them a "0" rating if it was allowed.

    Pros:
  • Cheap goods/services but not cheaper than on other website.
    Easy to consult site
  • Cons:
  • Bad service
Waste of time trying to reach customer service
Not better pricing than the other sites

Bad experience and Bad customer service

I bought a Lifebooker coupon for a facial. The facial was terrible and did not include the relaxing massage as stated in the ad. It was a waste of time and money. I complained to Lifebooker via several emails requested a refund. They never responded. Finally, I emailed them to remove me from Lifebooker. They then emailed back and said they removed me from their system. Never addressed my problem, never offered any resolution. Groupon or Living Social are great. Avoid Lifebooker!

    Refund on a questionable service

    Customer Service was great!

I bought a lifebooker back in July and went to use it today (January) and looked up reviews on Kayi Salon for the service I bought (Silk/ Mink eyelash extensions for $55). The reviews on yelp were TERRIBLE! I could not find any positive review for the lashes dating back to October!!

In fact, they salon was so bad, Lifebooker wasn't selling their services anymore. I called and emailed with no response from Lifebooker (which is the reason they're a 4 and not a 5 star rating), then got someone on their website chat (bottom right hand corner of the web window). Her name was Jenna and I requested a call from one of their service reps. She put me in touch with Molly. Molly called me in less than 5 min. Molly heard my concerns about Kayi's poor reviews and she immediately offered me two options- an equal service from a different salon or Reward dollars (essential store credit).

Very happy with the service I received.

Thank you Lifebooker and especially Jenna and Molly!

Never had a problem with LIfebooker

While some businesses might not be as nice/professional as you think, i have never had a problem with buying life booker loot. In fact, I've got a new hairdresser and a new esthetician as a result of this website. Had one issue ONCE with a botox loot that I bought. My appointment was cancelled unexpectedly and life booker resolved the issue within 24 hours of me filing a complaint. Offered me a refund or an exchange...which I took! Maybe I got lucky? who knows, but I have nothing but good things to say about this site so far and I've used it at least a dozen times.

Bought: Botox, Brazilian blowout, Haircut, hair color, manicure/pedicure, chemical peel, facial, massage.

    Order Date: 2013-10-18

    Date Received: 2013-12-02

    Pros:
  • Immediate appointments given (all within one week of my phone call)
  • very prompt

    I'd prefer ZERO stars

I used to be an avid client of Lifebooker until earlier this year, when I purchased two Lifebooker vouchers for Soca Motion classes and after calling and writing the merchant repeatedly to schedule the classes and receiving no response, I contacted Lifebooker for a refund and was told, basically, that it was not Lifebooker’s problem.

I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, and I intended to blog and write on review sites about Lifebooker’s policy of “screw you—you buy from us and you’re on your own”, but I decided to just take the $14 loss and never patron the site again.

    hgc wt loss from Lifebooker

DO NOT USE LIFE BOOKER My 1st and last purchase. Should have read the reviews first. Went to hCG to redeem my $30 coupon and they said it was not a valid number. I called lifebooker and they said hcgfatblaster was having difficulty at their web site and to e mail them with my name and address and they would ship. I did not have any problems with the web page if I was to pay the price for the bottle. Lifebooker could not give me a refund.

    2-Hour Cleaning Service

I bought "2-Hour Cleaning Service at Green Sprout Maids" from LifeBooker and paid $45 but the cleaners never came. They called me the day before to confirm my appointment the next day for Saturday at 5pm. I waited and waited but no one ever showed up. I checked out the reviews for this cleaning service and they are absolutely horrible. I can't believe that LifeBooker would offer their clients deals from such a terrible place. I'll never use LifeBooker again.
