DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!

I rented a book on Cultural Anthropology for this past semester with a rental price of approximately $35.00. My semester ended just before the holidays. Then on December 30th I got a call from my wife asking if I had bought $205.00 worth of books. To my shock, I checked our account and found that knetbooks had charged me the full retail price of a new book!! The book I received was 'good' at best, as it had been scribbled in throughout, highlighted heavily, and had some cover damage. I printed out the label that day and sent it back. I waited until Jan.12th before calling, as no refund had been issued. I tried their online chat, which turned out to be non-operational. So, I called them. After waiting for 40 minutes, I finally spoke with an ineffectual customer service agent without any power to do anything aside from recite the company's policies. I expected to be assessed a nominal late fee. Since the book cost $35.00 for an entire semester, I figured a $10-$20 late fee would be punitive. Man, was I wrong! Their policy is to refund only half the purchase price of the book! So, because it was less than a week late, I got robbed for $205.00, and despite the book being returned, now they are only refunding $102.90. To put this in perspective, at a semester rental rate of approx. $35, I could have rented it for almost an entire year for the amount they kept. I have been in school a long while. I have used numerous book rental companies and have NEVER come across such an unscrupulous outfit. As of this post, I have not received the promised call from a supervisor. I can not urge you strongly enough to avoid giving this company your business. I have arrived at the conclusion that their rental price is cheaper than most as a loss leader to get your account information. Once they have that, they have you! Their intentions appear to be to sell you a used book at inflated new book prices after charging you the rental. At this point, I am out the $35.00 rental price, the $205.00 purchase price. I received a credit of $102.90.. So, I have spent a total of $137.05 for a used book rental that I no longer have, as I mailed it back in good faith. That's a pretty steep rental price for a used paperback. I will be posting to every customer review forum on the web, filing a formal complaint with the BBB, and making it my mission to expose this outfit for the crooks they are. Thank you.

    NEVER RENT FROM KNETBOOKS

    The worst site I have ever dealt with. I will never in my life rent books from here again. The customer service department is rude and downgrading. The books are an expensive robbery. The website is tricky and honestly they don't care about anything besides making sure to rob your bank account. They will continuously charge your bank account and then say they will not give you your money back. They will have a lawsuit on their hands before too long when they do this to the wrong person. DO NOT RENT FROM KNETBOOKS.COM UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $300 FOR A BOOK THAT IS '$50 RENTAL'!!!! just trying to help everyone out! Maybe they will realize or get shut down, either one. KNETBOOKS WILL LITERALLY ROB YOU. IT IS BETTER OFF TO BUY THE BOOK BRAND NEW FROM A CAMPUS BOOKSTORE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE.

    Horrible customer service.

    I thankfully ordered my textbook with plenty of time and I received the wrong book and the worst part was that it included the other customers personal info (address apt num etc) in the inside packing slip.

    Mistakes happen right? Okay fine, but as a working busy student I tried reaching out by email first. Close to a week went by and i got absolutely no reply. Nothing .

    I decided to chat and the rep was indifferent at best. No apology was offered and the only thing Quann said was they could either replace or refund AFTER the book was received. Totally unacceptable! I needed this book NOW and they were still being completely unreasonable! The rep just said sorry about inconvenience when ending the chat.

    This was a few days ago, I haven't received any confirming emails that the right book is being dispatched and finally another idiot rep finally emailed me back saying " I seen you been service, contact us with any other questions-Trish" again no apologies for original issue, delay or even an reiteration or update on what took place. Sounds like their employees are poorly trained in customer service.

    With so many competing companies it's a shame. I'll stick to googling the ISBN number and checking out a few sites before going with this horrible company who doesn't consider customer service as an important matter.

    DO NOT RENT ANYTHING WITH SUPPLEMENTS OR CDS

    Rented a book that description clearly stated it came with book and cd. CD access was already used so I had to pay an additional $80 for a new access code. Would have been cheaper to buy NEW!!!! Order #9030349 When I called I was directed through 3 pages to find where their website states "CD's, Access Codes, etc may not be included with the rentals." BEWARE!!! If it looks too good to be true, it is!

    WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Let me tell you about my nightmare with this company. I rented a business statistics book for $60. I remember it taking a little while to get the book, which was not a big deal because I ended up not needing the book. The teacher for the class did almost everything online so the book was left in the box in which it was shipped. I recieved an e-mail saying that the book was late on May 13, 2012, and that my card was being charged $120. Right above this in red it clearly stated that the book was due June 01, of 2012. So the nasty email was not needed, and I took it offensively. Then I check my bank account and I was charged for the book anyways, which sadly overdrew my account (poor college kid problems) When I contacted customer service they informed me that my book was sent back damaged, the binding was completley removed from the book. Considering I didn't even use the book at all, this had to have happened in transit back to Knetbooks. I had shipped the book back in PERFECT condition in the same box and packaging in which it was sent to me. UPS automatically covers up to $100 worth of damage, but Knetbooks informed that I had done the damage because there is no way it could have happened in transit. Calling me a liar is something I will not stand for. I just graduated from a very strict Christian College, where we uphold the best character possible. I would not be writing this if this was not the complete and whole truth. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND USING THIS COMPANY, DUE TO THEIR BAD BUSINESS ETHICS AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
