Miami Downtown 3.5 Star Mystery Hotel

Just wanted to reveal the identity of this mystery Hotwire.com hotel I just booked to help anyone out there. It was described as having these amenities:

"Fitness Center

Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.

Pool(s)

Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.

Restaurant(s)

Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.

Business Center

Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.

High-Speed Internet Access

Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.

Tennis Nearby

Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one tennis court; an extra charge typically applies. "

And the mystery hotel is.... ding ding ding- the Hilton Downtown Miami located at 1601 Biscayne Blvd. I paid $87 for a 1 night stay, and the tax was $18.19 for a total of $105.19. Hope this info prove useful!

I have a complaint and problem with Hotwire.com. I used Hotwire and booked a hotel room at Americas Best Value Inn near the Seatac Airport in Seattle. I made the booking on May 1, 2009, and my credit card was charged. The hotel room was for one night on May 16, 2009. We had to wait over 30 minutes after we called before the hotel van came to pick us up, and then the driver told us that our reservation was CANCELLED because they had overbooked. WTF??! Apparently when Hotwire charges your credit card, the hotel doesn't get the money right away, and they give higher preference to whoever walks in and pays them upfront. I called Hotwire and they didn't really care- just offered to give a refund. This was at 9:45 PM. Wow. Needless to say we won't be using Hotwire.com in the future.

Hotwire was and IS a huge problem. They would not allow us to make any changes to our travel reservations once the credit card was charged. My wife got sick 3 days before our departure date. I still had to go as it was a business trip. Hotwire will not help you in any way once the money is in their account. It took several phone calls trying to work with them to just change the reservation to my credit card. They simply refused to help me and wouldn't give us a refund. I ended up losing the money and still paying for the trip. I had a similar disaster with Hotels.com. In this case, I was the keynote speaker at a convention in California. I booked my hotel reservation 3 months in advance. The day before I was supposed to leave Hotels.com e-mails me and says due to an error on their part, I have no reservation. All the hotels were now booked and I ended up paying 3 times as much at a hotel 15 miles away. Hotels.com's idea of customer service when I called them was offering a $20. coupon the next time I used their service. I am convinced that on-line services purposely make non-refunds their policy to cheat people out of money. I will never use one again. NEVER. If you are smart, go directly to the provider and make your reservation and check with them about refunds before you give them a dime.

Hotwire - Hotels.com Horrible!

hotwire ripp off

I booked my hotel and had a conformation for a hotel near the phoenix airport with an airport shuttle, with the airport shuttle being the most important feature of the hotel to me, because my car rental did not start till the following morning.  I later received a call from hotwire stating that my hotel was overbooked and that my reservation was cancelled.  I was then presented with two options.  The first was that I could get a refund, or my second option was that I could have hotwire book a new hotel for me.  I chose to have hotwire book a new hotel for me because I was driving to the airport, so I couldn't do it myself, and still needed a hotel when I got to Phoenix. I explained to the Hotwire customer service agent that I needed a hotel with an airport shuttle because my car rental was not scheduled till the next morning.  She then asked me if the Four Points Sheraton at 6850 E. Williams Rd.  in Mesa would be ok, to which I responded, "As long as they have an Airport shuttle, and can pick me up."  She then indicated that they did, and proceeded to book my room.  I am not familiar at all with Phoenix, and I didn't have any access to the internet while driving, so telling me the address of a hotel has no meaning to me.  My only concern was that the hotel could pick me up at the airport. Much to my surprise, after picking up my luggage and calling the hotel, they informed me that they were located in an entirely different area, and serviced an entirely different airport.  I then called hotwire to have this situation  resolved.  After waiting on the phone for 30-40 minutes while the hotwire representative pleaded unsuccessfully  with the hotel to pick me up, I was told that I needed to catch a taxi to the hotel and back the next morning (a 30 minute drive each way), and that it would  be refunded by hotwire.  I asked why I could not simply be changed to a new hotel, and was given the excuse that it was already the next day, and if my hotel was changed, I would not be able to check in till 3 p.m. the next day. This however did not really make sense, because it was still before midnight in phoenix at the time. I was instructed by hotwire to submit my taxi receipt by email, and I would be refunded in 7-10 days. Instead of being refunded however, hotwire changed their tune and emailed me back saying they would not be able to provide any compensation.

Hotwire is a scam!

Hotwire is a scam!

I had booked the room and paid in advance 100%, but there was no info about my booking when I arrived to the hotel. I had to book asap another room. Then I opened claim in PayPal (the payment service in my case) but PayPal couldn't refund me paid sum. After contacting Hotwire support I realize I could forget about paid money (438,84 USD). Right now they just ignore my requests.

Hotwire.com absolutely irresponsible company with strong scam habits!

wHAT A rip-off - I booked a hotel with them and told them that I had a rental car. After I booked I found out that parking was 50% extra for parking shame on you hotwire. then I wanted to cancel and they said it was tooooo late - I was stuck so I basically got the same price for another hotel that included parking - how desperate Holiday Inn in San Francisco must be to scam/fool people.

Holiday Inn could contact me 973-809-4237 I would be glad to talk with them...

Larry H is an idiot. It sucks if they messed something up, but I found that unlikely... It's way more likely that you didn't read the fine print (which is always a good idea) and you got pwned and now you're mad.
