Ordered on the 14th to ship on the 20th. Instead on the 19th it goes back ordered for 2.5 months. Go online the 21st to cancel and will get confirmation in 24 hrs. 3 days later no confirmation. Get letter in the mail item back ordered. Call 800 for status. Can't find it. Go online still back ordered. Call 800 again. Can't find it. Wait till site updates sometime today. We don't confirm cancellations. Why do I feel that this isn't over? BAD BUSINESS

My latest experience with Hammacher Schlemmer is a consumer nightmare.
I have purchased several items in the past, at full price, because of their "unconditional customer guarantee" ---which in this case is a lie.
I ordered slippers that did not fit --the sizing they listed was wrong or inaccurate, and they didn't fit. I notified them immediately, sent them right back. I was charged 98.00 and got credited 59.00 because of miscellaneous fees that were never mentioned anywhere; not in their brochure nor with the slippers in the delivery package.
Their boasting of unconditional customer service is not true and their representatives come across as rude. I can forward the correspondences I have received if anyone is interested. They sound as if computer generated. I have asked to speak, in person if necessary, to the President of Hammacher Schlemmer to see if he will live up to the written
customer service claims his company has published in every catalog. Nothing of these "phantom charges" is printed ANYWHERE.

We just got an iSobot from HammacherSchlemmber.com (with free ship) for our son who is in the eighth grade. He simply loves it and tinkers with it to make it do some funny actions upon voice commands (not to mention terrorize Puffball, our kitty). This is a neat educational toy certainly.

They even sell baby California Redwood plants that would eventually grow into Giant Sequoia trees! That looks like an interesting Mother's Day gift indeed....
