Agent service has failed to start

Essential Services notice has been on my site for two days. I contacted

defender Pro and they said to call back tomorrow and I was also informed that they license the right to sell this program and they, whoever they are, they don't know, will have to explain it. Bad business, stay away.

Bought: Defender Pro Windows 64 bit.....

    horrible custmer service

    I got this Defender pro package, paid $349 for it and I tried to use the online service and when I finally made contact with a agent they argued with me over having bought the product even with the product code. Then the agent got hateful with my daughter who was trying to work with him. I ended up having so many viruses on my computer I had to buy another one. THEY NEVER ANSWER A PHONE!!!! TAKES HOURS TO FINALLY GET THROUGH TO THEM, IF YOU CAN GET THROUGH......DONT BUY IT.

    defender pro 15-1 2012

    I bought this product at Walmart in April of 2012. I brought this to the Philippines where I am now residing. I just installed it today (Feb. 26, 2012. So far, it's working fine with my Acer laptop. However, the defragmenting process is toooooo sloooow.

    The protection is good and its value for money especially that anti-virus product here in the Philippines is a little bit expensive.

    But for professionals, I would not recommend buying this product. But if you already did, just make use of it until it expires.

    Worked great at first

    This product was great the first year I had it, had no problems at all. Then I had to renew, renewal is painful. In order to renew you must reinstall the program and put in the new serial#. I didn't have many problems after that, and then one day on both my desktop and laptop the program would no longer scan. My laptop gets exactly to 32 minutes left and freezes the whole system until I forcefully shut down the computer. On my other the computer restarts on it's own and doesn't complete the scan.

    ive had defender pro 15 in 1 for the lat 2 years and have had nothing but trouble they gave me a 1 year extension and my 3 activation's keep disappearing they reset them 4 times and its just a hassle worked good in 2010 then i bought it in 2012 and have had problems since im done with them i keep getting viruses and it wont rid of them it tells me they are gone ill run the scans 10 mins later and the same ones will be back on there i would just assume be done with the net do to the virus problems u cant even hit the browser and bam there's a virus now a days
    Yes, I have same problem. I purchase K7 toatal security online 1yr./1pc a Proper Liscence copy of Antivirus & install it...but it doesn't take update when online. What to do now?

    Defender Pro wiped out my drivers and internet connection

    This was a nightmare product. I installed it on my alta vista and it wiped everything out. All my drivers are erased, i have no internet connection, i could not even restore. Now i cannot retrieve my files in regular mode. I went to the Geek squad at Best Buy and they could not fix it. I end up buying a new computer $400 later. Do not buy this product!

    Dont waste your money on this, expired 22 months early...

    Well how can you start, it has applications that can't start applications. like "error 42" And after just dealing with it, it just up and wont protect because it says that the key has expired..... expired after maybe 2 months, the box says 2011 and its a 2yr subscription. So if you want to donate your money to some hacker, (and Spybot does a better clean than this) then please go right ahead, but buyer beware. Russ@ shelton, WA

    I bought DP (defender pro) BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY!!! I am a single mom and FT student. I do not have money to waste. I had a little time left on my norton antivirus but was running out I had about a month. I have to have my computer for school and so I spent the money a little early. The DP told me to uninstall my other antivirus so I did. Now I cant get DP to install properly and my computer got a virus in the mean time!!! WTF...thanks for nothing DP THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I bought it for $40 and had nothing but trouble. I had more virus's after I installed it. Customer service was no help. He just basically said "sorry can't fix it take it to a shop". They recommended buying a "Malwarebytes" which didn't help. I had to wipe hard-drive and trash Def. Pro. It is trouble in my opinion. Seems to be a beacon for more virus's.

    Skip this product. This is the worst software product I have ever purchased. If you don't have any computer problems, you will have a whole lot of them if you buy this product. Protection is not what you get, its becomes what you need from this software. It takes hours to load up and activate if it activates at all. And if anything goes wrong, the software will return error codes like 2, 4, 13, 100, 200, and on and on that have to be looked up at their website and provide no resolution. And if you think you can save yourself with a call to Tech Support 866-670-7855 to help you out, you better hold your breath because this is where the drowning really starts. To start off you will be on hold for the next 30 to 40 minutes waiting for your call to be answered by a call center full of a bunch of rude software illiterates. If you can't solve your problem, guess what?...they can't solve it either. Their Tech Support is of no help. They will have you go through all the same steps that you went through before you called them and then refer you to their website over and over again. If you already took the fall, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT because you will need it on this one. With this product you get NO PROTECTION, NO HELP, and NO SUPPORT.

    I have owned Defender Pro 15 in 1 for a month. I put it on my Windows XP and I love it. It basically rolled up it's sleves and took charge. It kicked out malware and adware and a couple other little nasties and now I'm running fast and smooth. I love the "Dashboard" controls. It's simple to install, operate, and keep track of what's happening. I paid $43 bucks for it and I really feel like I'm getting my monies worth. It cleaned up my computer and it works great for me. The only thing it dosen't do is clean my flat screen. Maybe the next version will do that too. :)

    Dude I was just surfing the web and then out of nowhere Defender Pro popped up and said it blocked a gnarly virus trying to get on my computer yo. I would have hated to see what that virus would have down to my computer. I'm sure it would have been extreme!

    This program is just delightful. The tech support is such pure joy to talk to. They answer the phone so fast and I have never had to wait on hold. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the world.

    It has given me 100% protection 100% of the time and I use my computer all day long and even all night long. I have never been one to post reviews but this AV program has me so overjoyed and filled with happiness that I must share it with all of you on this great site.

    How great a feeling it is to see something just work and work and work. And when it breaks down you get to speak to such great people who only purpose in life seems to make sure you are taken care of.

    I will be a customer for life and will be passing down this copy of Defender Pro 2011 to my kids and hopefully they will pass it down to there kids.

    Go out and buy this now and share the love with me!

    OMG to the fifth degree!

    When I saw this for 20 bucks I thought it was a dream. Once I got it installed though it made me want to scream!

    I thought computer could go so slow until I decided to install Defender Pro.

    So people go ahead and save your 20 bucks. This program will only leave you scratching your head and saying WTF!

    I have been using defender Pro for the last four years i have tryed going to other programs but none does what defender pro does I had AVG in one of my computers and it started to run slow so i tock it out and when i put defender pro back in it found 15 virus's that AVG didnt stop and i realy like the fire wall Defender Pro has i was taking classes at the local trade school and i connected my computer to the school net work the teacher needed to link into my computer and was stopped by the fire wall i had to give him permission to link in to my computer

    Booyah gotta give it up for Defender Pro! I was using Personal Internet Security and that just totally bogged my computer down and never seemed to work and it cost more too! Installed Defender Pro and it detected Personal Internet Security as a virus not an anti-virus and removed it from my computer!

    Pro Defender set my computer free! I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    My name is Davey and I agree with Deloris. How can you call store policy a fault of Defender Pro? They clearly state on there web page how to get a refund if you opened it, but people just feel better playing the blame game.

    Sure I'm not a big fan of this program. It's incredibly slow to install and set up the first time. Once you finally get it set up it seems to be okay, but you get what you pay for with this program.

    The return policy is the policy of the store not the program itself. If you go to the website the return policy is there. Don't blame Defender Pro for loopholes, blame the store as that is the policy on ALL software. I have used Defender Pro for years and never had an issue.

    I installed the program and everything went smoothly. But as soon as it was in my computer started running extrememly slowly. I had installed it hoping to clean up some of the issues with my older computer to help speed it up. It was running worse than before. It may have been better protected, but at the cost of efficiency? Not really worth it. And of course I can't return it because they won't take an opened computer program back. As previously stated, one has to open it to see if it works...right? Nice loophole.

    I installed DP 5 in 1 on my Dell lattidue 620 several days ago.No problems yet. Installation went smooth and quick. I admit I bought it for the price, ($20.00 at Walmart). My older Norton internet expired so I thought I would be a cheapass and try DP because of price..I didn't have any of the installation problems others said they had and computer has not slowed down.. Just lucky I guess.....Time will tell the real story...I didn't rate it yet..

    I bought it at Walmart and followed the instructions to the letter, yet could not make it work. I uninstalled it and tried again, would not work. Tried to call support and couldn't get anyone on the phone. Tried to email them and kept getting a message that i entered the wrong security code please try again!! Took my PC and defender pro 2011 to a computer shop to have the experts install it and they couldn't make it work. Took it back to Walmart and they would not refund my purchase price because I had opened the package. HUH? Dont I need to open it to try and use it? So, I think it sucks and I learned a forty dollar lesson Defender pro gets a thumbs down from me

    I have been using Defender Pro for several years.

    The price is right and I have never had a problem with the product. I don't understand why all these other folks are having so many problems. But then again I work with computers at my job. So maybe thats part of it. Some of these problems folks are having may be because they don't uninstall any other virus software before install. All of them require that and all will give you problems if you don't. DP user for several years now.

    I purchased defender pro and install it on my computer. Three months later I started getting a message that my anti virus protection was out of date.     I just bought DP 15-1 2010' four days ago, tried to install it twice and both times this message came up "Please report the following Error Code to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware support team/Error Code:732(0,0)." When i click on DP Icon an error message came up: "Instant Plus Application has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will notify me of a solution when available." Also DP never asked me in the install what my License ID was or password, been told it was out of date? Follwed the instructions to the letter but it never worked, computer was fine before install but my protection was over so i got DP15n1 and now this. Heard some good reviews but saw alot of bad what do i do? Thanks!

    Okay, I'm once again on the "live chat" trying to resolve another problem with DP. But there's no representative available to chat! Tried to reload, and now it's telling me my license ID and password are for a different product! Well, two months ago when I had this same problem, this is the ID and password the DP rep gave me. I'm sick of the problems I have every couple of months with DP. First with updates, then with the re-installation process. Now with customer service. I guess you get what you pay for - and this is cheap. Onward to better products for me!!!

    My wife and I just purchased the defender pro 5 in 1 for 2010. Its different from the 15 in 1 we had for 2009 but it works. I will only purchase the 15 in 1 from now on though its a smoother version and cover much more......

    This program appears to do an adequate job, but is one of the least user friendly programs I have ever used. I had a problem with it at one point where I could not manually access the program. I sought customer support, but they did not appear to even read my e-mail. Instead they just sent me the code for my free e-mail?!?

    Lately a process of this program, the vsserv.exe file frequently begins utilizing better than 90% of my CPU power, and I can do nothing else for the next 5-10 minutes.

    Pro: It appears to get the job done

    Con: CPU power hungry, and very poor customer support.

    i dont see where all of you are having these problems with it. I have just bought the defender pro5-1 2010 after having used it the 2009 version and have had not 1 problem, not 1! It works great for me but i also do everything youre supposed to when you install it! if your computer is that messed up what do you expect? yes there are a few things that could be better but dont blame the program for your own ignorance on it! my computer runs great! with no problems so maybe the ones that are having issues need to be a little more patient and go through everything and do it! yea it takes a while and nobody likes to wait but once it does everything its great and furthermore damn right update update update every day! thats how you keep your computer running right and virus free. also you have to update your adobe too, if you kept up with what you needed to on your computer then this would work perfect with no issues. i will and have recommended it norton let trojans into my computer and mcafee well dont get me started for the money this is well worth it! thursday june 24 2010

    I have been using Defender Pro since the 2007 version. I never had any problems with previous versions, but the 2010 15 in 1 is frustrating, at times. It updates virus sigs quite well, but I have been hijacked by keyloggers & other nasty things despite the products claims to protect wi-fi. Customer support has improved immensely over the years, but I still have unresolved problems. I really don't have faith in this product anymore. I was told by a tech today that I need to get my hard drive wiped. THANKS. :(

    I'm sure that they have sold over 100,000 in the last few years and to only have 70 or so negative reviews here is not bad at all.

    I tested this out on the 30 day trial period. I gave it a week but it is not a reliable program. It's either not responding or saying it's expired.

    The website is very deceptive too. In the comparison chart they list Mcafee, Norton, and Defender Pro. What they don't do is compare similiar products. They selected the most basic anti-virus programs for Mcafee and Norton, They don't put it up against Mcafee Total Protection or Norton Internet Security which would have all those features as well.

    Then down at the bottom they have the stores it is sold at and some awards. One says 2007, who know how old the other awards are. Once again its just another way to try to make them look better. If they had to compare it to the awards list of Mcafee and Norton then they would look pathetic.

    I haven't seen an actual box of it, but I'm sure it promotes that it has all these extra features the others don't have and it less expensive as well. I'm sure people see that and compare it to Norton and decide to go with Defender Pro. The extra features though won't help when Defender Pro is saying it has expired or is not responding though.

    Certain things like paper towels you can just grab the cheapest out there and be fine with it. Computer security is not something to go cheap on. There are too many things that can affect you if you don't have a reliable security program. There is a reason why Defender Pro is the cheapest out there and its not a good reason. Please spend the extra $30 get a quality program like Norton Internet Security. Sure when your at the store the extra $30 seems like a lot but in the long run it will save you a lot of time and frustration.

    Thankfully I was only using the trial version and it didn't cost me anything.

    I don't know what people's problems are with this program. I installed it and it works fine. I does have a few glitches and bugs that have to be worked out though. When telling it to fix problems there might be a few minutes delay before it actually starts doing anything and I can see how that can frustrate most people as impatient as they are today.

    Also if you surf the internet for more then 45 minutes at a time it will eventually start slowing down your browser before it cuts it off and then you just have to take a break for about 5 minutes and then you can resume.

    The other problems are nothing a quick reboot doesn't usually fix. This program requires a little more patience and time spent babysitting it to make sure everything is running right then other AV programs I have had but I did save about 20 bucks.

    I bought defender pro 15-1, at 1st i could not install it on my old system Windows XP. So i tried to install it on my other computer, it had windows vista, No good there either. I tried to take it back to the store but we all know they wont refund software after it has been opened. so it sat and gathered dust. I bought a new computer with windows 7 on it. i tried to install it and it took just fine, so it seemed, after 6 weeks of having it on every time i turn my computer on i have a message that this pc has never been scanned, so i scan. the past 2 days i have turned it on, it has said auto update is disabled, so i enable it and click fix. it fails every time. I contacted customer service and they told me to remove and reinstall, so i have , 2 TIMES!!!!!!!!

    This program is not reliable nor is it user friendly, If you are looking to buy this product i would spend the extra 20.00 and get something that has a real customer service dept. that is there when the customer needs them and has the ability or at least the know how to fix issues with their own product.

    Walmart told me this was a great program. It was a little hard to install, but after reformatting three times I think I finally got it to work. It's pretty slick but I don't know why they call it Malwarebites when it should be Defender Pro. Other then that I like it.

    Man I was at the local Walmart and saw this here 5-1 one and wondered why it had so many more features then the others and cost only half as much. I thought "Damn I can get me some good fried chicken later tonight with the money I would save."

    Only problem was it lasted for two minutes and then said it was expired. The darn box says two years not two hours. I was robbed I tell ya. I call tech support and they blame it on some company named Norton. So I sent in for a refund lickty split and went back out and got Norton. Now that is a slick fast program.

    I have not installed my DP 5-1 yet have not even opened it THANK GOD after reading the comments i have decieded to go back to my norton i am a single mom and money can be tight sometimes so when i looked at the different brands i choose DP becouse of the price and the fact it would cover both of my laptops at a very low rate mine was $19.99 on sale My son is in the Army and is over seas and my daughter uses the computer every weaking hour so I wanted to make sure what I put on our computers was going to do what it claims to do and again after reading the comments I do not feel safe with this produce I can not affored to get both of our laptops fixed just becouse I was trying to save a bit of cash so THANK YOU THANK THANK YOU very much for the feed back I am sorry that most of you have had to learn the hard way with your help i and hopefully others will learn from your mistakes.

    Total crap.I installed defender on 2 new computers.the next day one computer hardly works at all and the other is so slow it's insane.the first(laptop) boots up ,but that's about it.I tried every thing I know to fix and nada.the desktop works ,but is very slow.I am going to reboot the entire system on the laptop and use panda again.this is the last time I buy kaspersky's crap.

    Please stay away from Defenderpro 15 in 1. I bought it from Walmart in late January this year and the license expired in late April. I cannot reactive the license due to error code 309. The package states one year license. There is no telephone number that you can call. The only help is on line chat that doesn't provide real solution to resolve the error code. There is no follow up. This is the worst security software and worst customer service out there.

    Buy a product to get rid of virus's only to find out that you just paid money to further infect your computer.... Don't buy it It will wrech havok on your computer and you will never be able to completly recover it.

    Defender Pro..when powered by Kapersky was a very good product. I never had a problem with installs. I've used the product since 2005. Its always been good.

    That is until DP became powered by BiTDefender by Bullgard Security. In 2009, the firewall antispam included in 5-1 blocked my internet access. I removed that product and it worked fine. Luckily I use Spybot S&D in its place anyway.

    I just installed DP 2010 and thats when the computer flat out slowed down, hung up, DP would not start, error messages...the WORKS!

    It turns out that the new engine uses some of the same drivers as Norton. I thought I did an uninstall of Norton 5 yrs ago, however, certain drivers still remained.

    I had to manually remove Norton and any Symantec folders and run a registry cleaner.

    DP now works as it should. Computer speed is back. No slow down or hang ups.

    I used the following to fix my computer. Give it a try.

    Goggle ask dave taylor+remove norton

    I think DP is not smart for wrecking a good product with Kapersky. If its not broken don't fix it!!

    I give it 5 stars DP 2005 thru 2008. 4 Stars for 2009 and 3 stars for 2010.
