Worst decision I EVER made!

I wouldn't have done business with them if I had read any of these reviews. The company is made up of incompetent employees who are unprofessional and don't know the first thing about customer service. One word that comes to mind hen I think of this company is fraud. I was promised a set dollar amount at the start of my service only to find that they took out above and beyond agreed apron price with out authorization. When contacting the company and my sales rep I was put off and only talked to when I sent an outraged email on how disappointed and dissatisfied on my service. Even then the salesman made poor excuses and clearly stated that he cared more about his paycheck than his customers. I made it very clear I was done with the company and to cancel all ties and accounts with city grid until a month later another outrageous amount was taken out of my account, again without authorization. When i called city grids financial department I might as well have talked to a rock, although a rock may have been more helpful.

This company has given me nothing but a headache and so much frustration than I can ever express!!! It's forced me to close my accounts and deal with all the grief that comes with it!!! So not happy!!

Pros:
  • None.
  • Cons:
  • Where do I start........

    Worst Company

I used to work for this awful company. I am a good salesman and I couldn't sell this product because it made me sick lying to people. The campaigns don't work at all because there sites have low traffic and that's why they don't give solid reporting of where the clicks come from. Huge rip off and I feel bad for small business owners that get taken by this garbage company.

    Pros:
  • None
  • Cons:
  • Every aspect of the product

WORST DECISION I EVER MADE IN ADVERTISING

If you are thinking of advertising with Citygrid, DONT! SAVE YOUR MONEY! Learn from my mistake. Why?

    1. I spent $600 a month with them, didn't even get a single customer lead.

    2. Incompetent employees or FRAUD, SCAM are other words.

You can't adjust your budget online or cancel online. It's easy to sign up online but to cancel is almost impossible. When I called to cancel after spending over $1,000 the person on the phone said it can't be done until at the end of the billing cycle. What? I need to spend $500 more? So I said. Well then, let's change my maximum budget to $1 from $600. She then put me on hold and came back to tell me she will close my account as of that day. However, she didn't and I got billed $600 for the month. I was irate and called them. They said the would credit my account back to the day when I first called. It didn't happen and continued to get bill. Threatening letters. Eventually they called to offer a settlement. I didn't want to settle for nothing less than the day I called them to cancel my service. Anyways... listen to me. SAVE YOUR MONEY! THEY ARE RIP OFF ARTISTS! UNETHICAL! This is not a One Star business this is a NEGATIVE 1,000,000,000 STAR BUSINESS.

    Pros:
  • NONE
  • Cons:
  • UNETHICAL
  • SCAM
  • FRAUD
  • WASTE OF MONEY
  • NOT EFFECTIVE

Citygrid is a shame big time

They told us we would be charged only for the calls that we got. We got 7 calls and they charged us a Whopping 200 BUCKS!!! These people suck from the hard workers of American small business and offer up ZERO!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM they are vipers

    Pros:
  • Great at sucking money from folks that need better exposure to the www
  • Cons:
  • They fail miserably at doing what they promise to do. they are all about helping you. They just don't finish the statement that they want to help you spend your money with them and they don't want to do what they say they will do. Bad people and really should be put out of business!

    Unethical Fraudulent Scammers

Read all the the other reviews. Happened to me as well. Steer clear. Trust me on this. I am familiar with google adwords and it's effective for the most part. I thought these people would help out even more after reading their appealing website. I normally get 20-30 new customers per month with adwords spending about $500 per month. With these guys I got -- Zero. Yeah. I track where my customers are coming from. I couldn't find where to cancel online, no such thing. Unlike adwords you can't just login and adjust or reduce your budget. You have to call and talk to a "live" person who finds it every way to avoid you canceling. Account can only be canceled at the end of the billing period. I was like? WTF? No way. It's a click or a stroke of the keyboard. Cancel my account. Anyways.. read the other reviews, it's the same BS I experienced.

    Pros:
  • If you like to throw away money then these guys will help you do that.
  • Cons:
  • Everything!

    Beware of unscrupulous business practices

I became suspicious immediately after signing on and decided to cancel after only one day. Surprisingly I was able to cancel. I also decided to cancel my credit card number to keep them from hitting my card. Sure enough 30 days later I receive an email that my cc# was declined. Citygrid want $30 for 1 day's worth of "leads". That correlates to $900 in bogus clicks had I not

Cancelled. I went back and checked for new incoming calls that day, none. I checked for an uptick in visits to my website. None. Citygrid is a lie. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complete Scam - Zero Advertising Value

Their advertising service is a complete waste of time and money. I received zero benefit in one month of use. The sales rep stated that I could test their product with $100 free advertising and can cancel at anytime. I received zero calls and zero customers from their service. I called in advance to cancel and was told that they will not close my account until the end of the billing cycle, which allowed them to charge me an additional $200.00

Their service is shady and a complete rip off. I am in the process of disputing the charges.

    Pros:
  • None
  • Cons:
  • Everything about their service.

This advertising campaign did not get me a single relevant lead in 3 months. I sent an email confirming that I was NOT interested in renewing my contract after the 3 months of the contract was over. They still charged me a forth month and when I called to question it they replied that my contract had been auto renewed due to their terms of services. I was never made aware of this nor did I agree to this. They said my cancellation email came ONE day after the billing cycle began and therefor they can charge me for the entire additional month. I'm disputing the charges. I would advise everyone to steer clear. I held up my end of the business transaction and communicated clearly my intentions while they hid behind fine print. This is the worst kind of business in my opinion and I would never treat a client this way.

They lied to us about what we where actually signing up for. No one in our company gave authorization for a pay per click campaign. The only thing we ever wanted to sign up for was an online listing with a phone number in which people could contact us, and if they used the phone number provided we would pay alittle money. This wasn't the case at all, they enrolled us in a pay per click campaign even though we do not have a active website? We tried calling only to get rude employees who didn't care at all. We then told them this was very misleading and not what we had signed up for and to cancel our account. They did not do so told us we couldn't cancel had to stay another month, and they would continue to charge us no matter what. Needless to say we had to fill out a fraud report and change our CC's. I would recommend staying away they will BS and make their service seem great, all BS.

    Sincerely,

    The Riteway Co.

Wish I had read this first. Did the exact same thing to me. Told me I was paying for a 19.95 listing and took 419.00 out of my account. They claim I signed up for a package. Who would sign up for a search package with Citygrid? I can do that with Google myself. It's called adwords and the "real" yellow pages. I called and they were rude. Well, I contacted their legal department and will be filing a small claims suit in the state of Alabama for my money. If they do business in your state via internet it is "reasonable contact" and you can sue. It's time business owners quite getting ripped off. If it ain't yellow pages or google don't call me with your promises and criminal acts.

    Lack of Integrity Hurts.

It's too bad that it is no longer commonplace for a business to do what they say they will. After giving the ok to run a program for a month, I was to receive a call to set up other specifics and our special offers from my 'Account Executive'. Should have known better I suppose. Multiple phone calls and emails with zero response from anyone. 1 month later and $500 lighter in my pocket with no new clients and the only phone call on their traceable line coming from me to test it out. But somehow, somewhere over 350 impressions were made this month? Come on... I'll be sure to tell everyone at the Chamber of Commerce about this ridiculous scam.

Avoid it at all costs. Tell your friends and family.

    Pros:
  • Absolutely zero.
  • Cons:
  • Citygrid media as a whole.

    Waste of money

I was wanting to change my listing with citygrid media because they said I was a chiropractor, and I am not. They had review on my profile for a different doctor. They said I had to set up a campaign to change my information. After less than 2 weeks, they have charged me over $200 for no phone calls and 5 people looking at my website. When I asked to decrease my budget and cancel my campaign, citygrid refused. The account manager never said anything about a 30 day term, and now they will not cancel the account until the end of the term. The charges and campaign were misrepresented. Citygrid is using fraudulent business practices, and I am so sorry to be taken advantage of in this way.

    Pros:
  • fast lesson in unethical business practices
  • Cons:
  • waste of money
  • fraudulent business practices
  • deceitful description of services
  • dishonest
  • unhelpful staff
  • not interested in truthful listings - just in getting more money
  • interested in making money rather than providing a useful service

Skip right over the account manager and contact their Billing Dept. My acct mgr tried to tell me I was locked in for 30 days too - but that wasn't true. Billing dept only charged me for about two weeks of "service" and told my my account manager was wrong.

They are a scam - I hope a 5 rating is the worst

I told them I would give it a try for a month. they charged me $299 for a month but couldn't prove any of those people went to my website. They then had the audacity to charge me another $150 for the next month. I wish I had read these reviewed before I signed up with them because they really scammed me.

I wouldn't buy anything from them. The salesperson that called actually hung up. He kept going on about their services. I mentioned that I was in the middle of work and asked if he could e-mail me the information and I would read it tonight. He then asked to schedule another appointment to talk. I said yes, but that I would like him to send me some info or a link to some info before the appointment. Since I am already paying someone else to do SEO work for me, I did not want to pay for duplicate services.

    He hung up!

    UNRESPONSIVE FRADULENT RIP OFF

Deceptive company, and absolutely no response when calls and emails are made to work things out. They do not cancel service when requested, they do collect frequently! They do absolutely nothing for the money, produce no results, and then try to play dumb when I call to complain. Usual response is "who did you talk to? There is no one here by that name" even though I have emails and correspondence to prove my contacts. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAJOR RIP OFF FRAUD OF A COMPANY acct #....37722

    Cons:
  • no customer service
  • rip off; take money and provide nothing in return

I am chiming in concert with most other posts on this site...CityGrid (aka CitySearch) is absolutely dishonest and deceptive in its business practices. I strongly discourage businesses, especially new start-ups, from engaging in business with this despicable company. As a new business owner, I was drawn-in by CityGrid's very convincing pitch to provide a higher level of online visibility for my business at a reasonable rate. Well, CityGrid's pitch was misleading and in some instances what it promised was a straight-out lie. A CityGrid account manager told me that after paying $500 for my initial campaign, I could lower my monthly expenditure for follow-on campaigns to whatever amount I chose. I attempted to do just that after four months of no visible advantage by using CityGrid. At that time, the same account manager told me, that I could not place my monthly expenditure below $299. To add insult to injury, over the past six months since I've started using CityGrid, there was only one customer that stated he was patronizing my business because he say it on CitySearch (we query all new customers on how they heard about us). I find this to be, not only odd, but extremely disturbing considering CityGrid's claim that I was receiving well over 500 clicks a month and exhausting my $500 budget. Everyone should read the "exemployee" post on this site, it is absolutely accurate. I would monitor my account and see very little activity for most of the month, then it would spike near the end of the month. In closing, I will sum up my experience with CityGrid by stating an old, but very fitting, adage “BUYER BEWARE!” For the amount of money wasted on doing business with this SCAM (you could interchange the "A" with "U" and be just as accurate) company, you would be better served by launching an advertising campaign with a reputable/popular local radio station; which is exactly what I am going to do.

This company should all go to jail!

This is the epitome of rip off scam. I'll keep it short.

On their so called Analytics page where the salesman said i could keep track of all my campaign stats like Google Analytics all you see is a number. A high number at that. In just 15 days my site apparently doubled its visitors. When i asked where these people/clicks came from they said "Our extensive network of relevant websites" ok like what? "well, it changes daily." Ok, name one... "Hmm, i'm gonna see what i can do and get back to you with that." HAHA, So we are supposed to just trust them. My Google stats didnt jive with what they were claiming. So they are straight up lying and racking up fake clicks and charging astronomical prices for them. I searched as hard as i could and i couldn't find one true connection from their trusted relevant network. Total scam!

    Pros:
  • If you have extra cash that you want to throw away.
  • Cons:
  • Everything about them.

One month... NO LEADS... $300 down the drain...

Was contacted last month to do a campaign. Sales guy was very nice, so I decided to give them a try. Minimum budget was said to be $300... even though I would have rather tried about $100. I thought it might be a decent way to get leads cheaper as I use three other companies that charge $40 per connection by way of recorded phone calls. Here they say it's only 1.60 per "connection"... but there's really no proof of any connections. To make sure people coming to our office found us through here, I put in an offer... mention Citygrid and get a FREE tube of Biofreeze. Not one person mentioned Citygrid and magically, just like I thought... they billed the entire $300 budget I had. Which is kinda interesting, being that I use yet another company that charges me "per click" on Google with a listing right at the top and they only debit $50 at a time whenever I've run out of the last $50. What's funny is I've found they usually only charge me every six to eight weeks... depending on how many clicks I've been getting. Which makes me wonder... how is it that so many clicks were generated through Citygrid in a one month period, when the ad I have at the very top of the Google site isn't getting that many??????

I called and canceled today. Today is actually the first day of the new billing cycle. Supposedly I was told I will only be billed for last month (the $300) and today... whatever activity I had (I would doubt it if it was about $200... so they could stick it to me some more... we'll see when I find out in a few days).

Yeah... I don't like this set up because there is no proof of what they say... for all I know it could be made up numbers. Even if they are all legit numbers... spending $300 and getting no leads in a full month... with all those "connects" tells me this is a waste of money. I've done several types of advertising... newspaper doesn't work... magazines don't work... Ad Cart doesn't work. The best advertising I've had has been hands down paying $40 per call for each new patient. There are at least three companies out there that offer that type of service... and for chiropractic it definitely works. While some of the calls don't pan out (20%)... the other 80% usually do. And when you factor in about 5-10% of those calls have resulted in MVA patients, well that there just makes it an unbelievable great advertising tool.

Good luck everyone... looks like Citygrid doesn't work for barely anyone. I only gave them a 2 out of 5 because the salesman that signed me up was extremely nice... and so was the woman that canceled my account. Hopefully it's been canceled and I don't have anything else to report later (fingers crossed)...

    Dr. S

    COMPLETE SCAM!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!

Be careful when deciding whether or not to use CityGrid Media!!!! Their sales rep pushed very hard to sell me a bill of goods (Which I have since found out was absolutely false), and then would not return any of my calls. After various attempts to reach out to my account rep, and customer service; I was informed today that they have not had any account reps for almost 6 months!!! No contact was made by anyone in the company to inform me of this major change, and they have essentially billing us for 6 months with ZERO ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT.

When I called customer service to address this issue, I was hung up on by two different reps and told that I was simply out of luck. There was nothing they would do to correct the situation. They were very happy taking my advertising dollars and literally doing nothing for it.

The entire experience would be too long to list here, but if you'd like to hear more, feel free to contact Sinful Customs @ 661-916-1618. Just want to prevent anyone from making the same mistake we did in deciding to use this company for ads & promotion!!!

Read all the other reviews and just add my name to the list.

Not 1 new lead in 2 months and they wanted $600

This company will put you out of business with fees and no result.

I expect a class action law suit soon.

    I am contacting the BBB

    Pros:
  • none
  • Cons:
  • charge for services not rendered
  • can not be reached by phone or email

    Rip-off!

Don't waste your money. Stay away! The company did not have my phone number correct. Run away! They did not stop once I called to cancel! I called to cancel and the charges kept coming. I did not get one lead or call from the company.

    Pros:
  • None
  • Cons:
  • Drain your credit card
    tax deduction
