Can anyone help??

I purchased their groupon offer and I somehow was entered into their quarterly wine club. Ginger, the manager is refusing to refund my shipping charges. Groupon should be ashamed that they allowed this company to offer a so called "deal" Has anyone looked into filing a class action suit against the company?

Barclays wine is a huge scam.

If you bought a Groupon for this company you're probably just as angry as I am. First off, the wines were terrible. Second, what is suppose to be a single order is in effect placed as a Wine Club subscription with subsequent orders being placed at $150 per shipment. Your only recourse is to refuse the shipment and pay shipping and restocking fees to the tune of $50. Why anyone would want to sign up for a wine club with selection this awful is beyond me. More importantly, the intent to sign customers up to their subscription service is completely hidden from you. Forget "buyer beware," this is flat out theft! I would not recommend this business under any circumstances.

the groupon deal was to lure people into their subscription model. They are total fraud! A lawyer should look into that, and get us out of this mess!!!

Be very careful. Barclay's claims to have sent e-mail to what appears to be my correct address (talked with customer service) but we were surprised by when the charge appeared on our credit card. We had no idea we were signing up for some automated delivery "membership". We never would have placed the first trial order had that been obvious. Hopefully they will cancel my membership as I have requested. Oh yea, ran into the same situation as Larry, order has not been picked up by FEDEX but they "cannot" cancel it, I suspect it is because this is the only way they get repeat business. May not be a scam but sure feel like it, buyer beware.

Barclay's Wine lousy service

I ordered a case of 2006 Chateau Franc-Cardinal from Barclay's Wine on 5/20/2011. A week later, I checked the status, but nothing had shipped out yet. So I called the customer service and I was told it's still in the warehouse waiting to be shipped. Then I waited for another week, same answer when I called back 2 more time. Another week has passed, my credit card statment arrived showing that they had charged to my credit card on the 23rd of May, and today is June 8, but the status is still the same when I called again. I decided to cancel the order since it missed my housewarming party. There are many winery dealer on the web and I don't have to deal with one has no responsibility.

Bad customer service and putrid wines

I made the mistake of buying a Groupon deal with Barclay wines last holiday season and I had nothing but trouble starting with delays and very arrogant personal when trying to get things up and running.

OK lets review the wine, I've never had animal urine nor toilet water but what we received from Barclays wine this appeared to be the source, Buyer Beware!!!!

I wish I would have found this site before I ordered from Barclay's. I too used a Groupon which seemed like a good deal. I placed the order on 3/8 and my CC was charged on 3/9 AND I was sent a FedEx tracking number by Barclay's. So, I just assumed my order shipped. So on 3/16, since I still didn't have my wine, I called to see what was going on. I was told my order had not shipped and it was still within the 10-14 time period. OK, no problem. BUT, I then asked why my CC was charged on 3/9 AND why I would be sent a tracking number. She did not have a good response. Seriously, what kind of business charges your CC without shipping the product and sends you a tracking number when the product hasn't even shipped? After reading these reviews I'm curious if I will even get my case of wine. Barclay's invoice xxx412.

I was misled and scammed by Barclays after participating in a Groupon purchase. I received and additional bill and was told that I had signed up for a quarterly club. They said I received an email that I never saw. The page said a no obligation club, but evidently if you did not say no, you were obligated. Worse, the wine offered on the intro package was cheap, poor quality wine.

I wish there was a rating below 1 start for this company. Like many of the other people on this site, I learned about Barclay's through Groupon. I also had various problems with the shipping. Now I have absolutely no wine, and I'm out all of the money I paid, since they are holding my wine shipment hostage unless I pay an additional $35. They essentially stole my money.

The worst rip off ever!

Beware the scammer company. The wine is gawd-awful. Absolute headache inducing swill. They get you on the groupon and then rip you off by sending you more wine that sucks and that you never intentionally ordered. I hate these scumbags and I hope you can manage to avoid them.

    I've asked Barclay's Wine and the affiliated Finest Bottle to stop the spam. Their customer service reps say they will, but it doesn't stop. Why would anyone trust a business built on unsolicited e-mails?

    Apparently you are lucky if you are only getting FREE unsolicited emails. Everyone else on this site indicates that they are being billed for shipments not sent, hit with $50 restocking fees for wines not requested, and that if they have the misfortune of actually getting the wine, it tastes bad. Do these guys have any satisfied customers, besides their moms?

    Worst customer service.

    Didn't tell me my order shipped.

    Didn't tell me it was damaged in transit.

    Didn't ship my replacement order without being asked repeatedly

    Didn't have the wines i ordered.

    Replaced my selections with cheaper wines.

    So far haven't refunded me the difference or even replied to my questions about the difference in cost.

    I'd give them zero if I could. This company is crooked.

    Two times I have ordered mixed cases and both times they substituted wines because they were "out of stock." This last time I knew something was fishy. I liked this one wine and was having trouble finding it. Days before getting an offer for a mixed case of wine from this winery, I had been on Barclays' website searching for the favorite wine. The search came up empty. They had no stock of it. So I was very pleased and surprised to see it in the offer that came days later and assumed there had been a new shipment. It's my belief, however, that they knew they had no stock when they offered the case, in what amounts to a bait and switch scheme. I would not be surprised to find they have a sophisticated web program that targets these specials based on what customers are seeking. If not that, they clearly offered something they did not even have. Upon further investigation, I found a case of wine from this winery at full price in another place on their website. The list included this favorite wine. Makes me wonder if I would have ordered a full-price case if they magically could have found some bottles of it. I called this to their attention and they took the listing down.

    Their customer service stinks. They sent me a return label that did not work at Fed Ex and refuse to answer my emails about it--probably because I was pretty ticked and accused them of being the scam artists they are, so they undoubtedly are calling me names and "teaching me a lesson."

    Buyer beware with this bunch.

    I signed up for their Wine Experience program, as seems to be the common thread of people that have complained on this forum. My experience was no different. The first case came in early March (about 3 weeks after my credit card was charged), and everything was fine (wine is ok). Then I got an email this previous Friday night at 9pm notifying me they were going to ship my next order out "this month". I got back to them early Tuesday telling them I didn't want the order sent right now since it had only been a little over two months since the last order, but I was told the order had already been packaged and there was no turning back.

    There are two problems:

    1. They notified me on a Friday night at 9pm and then finalized it Monday. That's hardly enough time for someone to respond to cancel an order, even though there website says they notify you in advance so you can cancel if you want to.

    2. They say they ship wine out every 90 days (per the agreement on their website)- this order came about 66 days after my last order.

    Don't trust them. Spend a few bucks more and buy the wine locally.

    I ordered on January 3rd a case of my favorite wine to celebrate our anniversary since it was the wine served at our celebration.

    I waited more than what I thought was reasonable (almost 4 weeks) and contacted Barclay's. Several days later, on Jan 29th, I finally get a response 5 days later telling me the package was damaged in transit and another would be sent, but now that they were out of the wine I ordered, it might take a while to receive a new shipment. At this time, our anniversary has passed.

    On February 23rd I receive a case of wine. I open it up. It's not the Willow Crest Pinot Gris that I wanted. It's not what I ordered and now have waited almost 2 months for. I went out of my way to order a case of Willow Crest Pinot Gris because it's my favorite and Barclay's had it listed for purchase.

    I wanted to do business with Barclays because they are local.

    I'm simply stunned at how poor this transaction has gone and I still don't have a case of my favorite wine 2 months later.

    I'll never do business with them again.

    I ordered a case of wine form Barclays, they claim wine cost per bottle average $15.00. I have had 2 buck chuck taste better. Terrible experience. I called and they gave me some credit which I called I used, did they use my credit....NO they charged me full amount resulting in another call. I really didn't want a credit but that was my only option. I love wine insiders, they ship a fantastic wine a far better prices.

    Poor Wine, Terrible Service

    I purchased a red wine sampler case from Barclays online. The price was about average, assuming that I would receive wine that I would at least somewhat enjoy. The first of the 6 types was decent, but the 2nd kind I tried was not drinkable. It clearly had gone bad. I tried the other bottle of this kind and it was the same. I save the bottle and tried a different kind a few days later. It was only slightly better.

    I emailed Barclays and asked for a refund on the bad bottles only, or for them to send replacements of a different type.

    They offered my credit only, which would require that I would spend a significant amount of additional money to use. I followed up and asked that they either refund the money for those bottles or send replacements at no cost. They responded and said that they would not do either. Their service is terrible and does not reflect the guarantees that they describe on their site. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM BARCLAYS!!!!

    biggest scam EVER! Avoid this company at all costs! Horrible wine! Vinegar in a wine bottle! The worst thing is I Purchased a Groupon to buy wine 1 time and Barclay's signed me up to a "wine EXPERIENCE". customer service whore Kami is a demon from hell. the wont send a call tag for the wine that came to my house and say i am responsible. THEY ARE THEIVES! AVOID THEM!

    Terrible!!! Changed half of my order to wine of lesser value, claiming that their Service Policy allowed them to do that. Well, the order was prepaid through Gruopon and of course couldn't possible know about this policy. Completely unacceptable, unreasonable and downright BAD service.

    Horrible experience. The first case of wine we ordered, the best wine was replaced with "Tuesday Night Red" which is not a bad tasting wine, but certainly not the same value as the wine they replaced.

    The next case we ordered (mistake!) I ordered a mixed case, but changed my mind right after ordering to just get reds. I emailed to see if that was possible. I received no response for quite some time, then got notice that my order was canceled. I was still charged the full amount. Then they charged me again for the reds and the refund of my original case took about 10 days. I STILL have not received my wine after ordering almost a month ago. The customer service people are nice enough, but it takes eons for them to write back. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. There are tons of other places to order wine from online!!

    I am extremely disappointed with my experience shopping here. I ordered 3 bottles, and there were problems with every step of the process. First, it took 2 months from my ordering date until I received my wine (on the website, they guarantee 14 business days). Second, they ran out of the bottles I ordered on 3 separate occasions - I understand that this happens, and on the first 2 occasions, they received my permission to replace the bottles with a different wine; however, I am frustrated because I feel that the bottles might have been in stock if they had placed my order on time. The final straw was when I received my order today, they had replaced a very special wine that I ordered without my permission. Honestly, the customer service people are very friendly and easy to contact, but I will never order from this company again - I have never had this degree of trouble with a small wine order.

    I am constantly receiving spam emails from this company and have repeatedly clicked on the un-subscribe button to no avail. Repeated calls to 888-380-2337 have gotten no where and the last time I called someone just said stop calling and banned/black listed my phone number. I now forward the spam e-mails to spam@uce.gov in hopes of stopping this unwanted intrusion.

    They make it appear as though you're ordering one sampler through groupon and then the next thing you know a non-refundable $150 is missing from your account! Do not do business with these guys, especially under the rouse of a "deal"

    I bought their product from GROUPON and the deal is $45 for 4 bottles. I was asked to retrieve the voucher from the Barclay wine website and surprisingly, I was charged extra $45 that means 90 for 4 bottle. I called the costumer service to tell them my concerns they put me on hole for over one hour and I have to cut off the phone. I will never recommend them to anyone.

    Totally terrible customer service. Got it as a gift, then paid the shipping, the wine was not delivered when someone could sign, and then prematurely returned. To have it re-shipped and pay the restocking fee would put me at $50 for 5 bottles of unknown quality. Now I'd afraid I'll be scammed for subsequent orders, based on these postings. Avoid these scammers and buy locally.

    Very similar thing happened to me. I was never given an attempeted delivery notice from FedEx. Now they want me to pay to have it reshipped to me. I told them I would not spend another penny with their company. I will be disputing the charges.

    I did not wish to sign up for a wine-club membership, but Barclays claims I did by clicking a box when I redeemed my Groupon. They sent me wine I did not order, and charged my credit card $150 without my consent! Now they say they will only refund $108 because they claim I am liable for the shipping. Awful customer service. The wine was OK.

    small print via Groupon deal that stated they would send another case of wine 3 months later at full price.

    On right side 7th bullet down. Otherwise no idea of this.

    No notification of this on the email confirmation. No notice of a case being sent, though they stated they sent it.

    $41 restocking fee it cost me.

    I ordered my wine using a groupon on 02/21/11. My credit card was charged on 2/22/11 for the full amount. It is past the 14 day guarantee and still no wine. I have called numerous times and no one can help. I am always told "your wine should ship tomorrow" or "we will have to contact the shipping company and expedite this order." I have also been told the orders on 02/21/11 had multiple tracking numbers issued for each order so no orders were picked up and all orders had delayed shipment. Since this was their error, they should make every effort to get the wine orders to the customer. I am very disappointed with Barclays

    I will never order from Barclay's Wine again. When I ordered, I never received a confirmation email. In fact, I have not received a single communication from them at all about my order. In my order, they forgot a bottle of wine. This doesn't seem like a big deal. I called them to get it re-sent. It is now 3 months later and a bottle of wine has finally arrived. It's the wrong bottle. They substituted a cheaper bottle of wine since they were now out of the original. When I explained that I had looked up the price of the new bottle online (and that it was half the price), the representative insulted me and said there was no way I could have possibly found the same bottle online as only they carry that brand. I re-did the search and informed her over the phone of the search results. "Please hold" was all she said in response. When she came back on, she informed me that I had to take the cheaper bottle of wine as my substitute and refused to even apologize. Horrible company!

    I also had an awful experience with Barclay's Wine just like a lot of people here. I bought the Groupon deal , and placed my order on January. I didn't hear for almost a month an d finally my wines arrived. However I oderded a $15 wine which they replaced with a $ 7 wine (I checked the price of the replacement wine in the internet). I contacted them regarding this issue n they gave me a $ 15 credit for my next order. I told them I just want to get the wine that I ordered in the frist place so please just send it to me, but they told me the shipping cost is $12.95. si I just forget about the store credit.

    I am so unhappy with their customer service and I feel cheated for buying wine from them.

    Like so many of these other reviews, I had an awful experience with Barclay's Wine. I received the Groupon deal as a Christmas gift, and placed my order on December 27th. I called the company on Feb.2 wondering why my wine had never arrived. They said it had been damaged in shipping and was sent back to them on Jan. 6. (Thanks for letting me know!) They said they would resend the order, but needed to replace one of my wines for a better wine of the same varietal. I agreed, and finally, almost two months after my original order, my wine arrived today. Not only had they replaced the Bordeaux that they had told me about, they also replaced my Pinot Noir for a much cheaper Merlot (which I don't even drink), and another of my original wines for a red blend. I am so disappointed in this company, and would not recommend it to anyone. I will try to get my Pinot Noir at least, but am not expecting much.

    I, too, placed an order using a Groupon code. I have never experienced such poor customer - friendly, but very disappointing. They were out of wine I ordered and then acted like they were doing me a favor to replace it with a bottle that cost $2 more. Really??? The prices would be okay with the Groupon coupon, but otherwise when I could find the same bottles, I found them cheaper at other sites. They appear to be the same company as thefinestbottle.com. Their websites are attractive but the business is questionable. Buyer beware!

    I am not one to post reviews for anything, even bad, but Barclays has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered wine on Jan 26...I am still waiting. They sent me a Fedex tracking number and to this day there is no information. The first time I called they talked it away with snow. Fine I get that the north is having issues, but they have had some breaks and still it hasn't moved. The last time I called trying to cancel it, they said they could not do that and I would see some info by the end of the week. Well tomorrow is Friday and I will call and demand they refund my money (which they have had since Jan 28) and cancel my order, or action will be taken. Dont bother with Barclay, there are much better clubs.

    Barclays wine provided me with the worst customer service i have EVER experienced. Their website says 10-14 days for your order to arrive. I am going on a month and a half still no wine. Contacted their customer service 5 times i was told "we will get back to you" have they, Not once. The whole purpose of my order was for super bowl which is 2 days away and still i will not have my wine.

    Beware!!!

    Bought two cases from Barclay. The first shipment, wines were just OK. Second shipment, absolute swill, each and every wine in the case. Awful is an understatement! Cabs thin and/or acidic -- just terrible. Haven't tasted a jug wine as bad as these. Only thing missing on the bottle were the skull and crossbones.

    Bought: Lamont, Tremo, Carino del Toro, Labarinto.

    Wish I look here first before buying..

    I'm not typically a person that complains too often, at leave never enough to take time out of my day to type a negative review. However, my experience with Barclay's Wine is my exception. After ordering a case of wine for gifts for Christmas I was told that shipping would take 10 days. It instead took 20 days in which case I was already out of town for the holidays. Fedex tried to deliver the case and when I wasn't home they sent it back to the company. I called Barclay's hoping they'd help out a little since their estimate delivery time was doubled; however, no they charged me a $20 return fee, then another $20 to have it shipped.... I should have just took a refund, but then I'd still have to pay the return fee. Needless to say I understand now why they try to find business through groupon, since no former clients will ever use them again... I know I will not.

    Warning!

    I don't know why the BBB doesn't take companies like Barclays to task for their extraordinarily sleezy tactics. Buyer beware. $15 to ship wine that isn't worth $4!! I could go on and on, but everyone else has covered all the issues we have with this company.

    Barclay's wine is swill

    Bought a case for a birthday for a friend. She had to throw it away it was so bad. I went to a local wine shop and replaced it. Will never buy from Barclay's again. What a waste of my hard earned money

    Great Deals, Terrible Fulfillment & Service

    Twice I have tried Barclay Wine because of the great offers they have. Both times I have requested only Red Wines. Both times I've received a combo package of Reds and Whites. Both time I've asked to work out an exchange and both times I've been told too bad you ordered wrong. Terrible fulfillment and service!

    Barclay's delivers

    Barclay's has never failed to deliver. The wine(with only one exception) has always been enjoyable and a bargain for the price. Customer service is quick and responsive. Will continue to use them for wine to keep my rack stocked.

    Great Deals

    I have bought several times from Barclays, never been disappointed. I have selected a variety of different wines, always been right on time with their deliveries and the deals are unbeatable. Best of all, since they are not a club, no annoying monthly or quarterly "must do's" to worry about.

    My Experience has been Excellent !

    I received a Barklays 12 bottle offer for an additional 70% off around Thanksgiving 2015. Each bottle I ordered was sent with no substitutions. One bottle had been broken during shipping and I called the company the next morning. They offered me a refund to my charge card, or an even better credit amount for my next purchase. They were extremely helpful! The 6 wines that we have opened have all been very good! I was not entered into any monthly or quarterly wine shipment as others say they have. As I look at all these reviews-they are all from years ago. I wonder if there has been a change in management since then? My experience has been nothing short of wonderful, and I would recommend Barklays to anyone.

    I placed an order through Barclay's and although they had to sub a couple of my wines I ordered because they were out of stock, you can't beat the deal you get and the wine was really good. When I spoke to their customer service wondering why I received different wines, the person I spoke with was very nice. I will order from them again.

    Quick Shipping and Customer Service

    I recently ordered their Groupon of 4 bottles for $45. Everything went perfectly. I didn't get my tracking email but I emailed their customer service for it and heard back immediately. Got my wine really fast, looking forward to trying!
