A panel of judges from WinPC and Nikkei Byte magazines yesterday afternoon honored FIC's Personal Digital Assistant, the 1st-PDA, with the prestigious Best of Computex 2001 Award. Dubbed "The Computex Oscars", the ceremony was held on Day 3 of Asia's biggest computer show. 1st-PDA impressed the judges enough to take the overall First Prize out of all seven product categories, and beat off stiff competition from a very strong group of finalists. According to Lee Chang, Deputy Secretary General of the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), there were some 300 entrants, about double last year's total.

In response to news of this latest award, Gene Sheu, President of FIC's Network and Information Group, stated: "FIC is extremely honored to win this important award. Our 1st-PDA has now staked a strong claim to be the very best device of its kind in the world today. We continue to receive astounding feedback on this product, which helps to explain its immense and growing popularity in the market. 1st-PDA has fulfilled our confidence in its technology, and I would like to thank i@Box for supporting us with its development. We at FIC pledge to make sure 1st-PDA just keeps getting better and better in the future!"

Nikkei Byte and WinPC magazine award the Merits of Excellence annually at Computex to recognize manufacturers who have delivered high quality, innovative products to the market. The TCA and the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA) are co-sponsors. Among many other factors, the panel chose the 1st-PDA in particular for its suitability in new wireless environments and its effective Bluetooth functionality. FIC had launched the 1st-PDA on May 7th, describing it as "a cutting edge device that would offer customers an exciting, cost effective way to join the wireless web".

Throughout the Computex show, visitors have been flocking to the FIC booth to take a look at the 1st-PDA and several other exciting FIC products. For more information, you can still come and visit FIC at Computex until June 8th 2001 at the Taipei World Trade Center, Hall 2, Booth # F184-F188 and F197-F201.
