Eizo today announced the release of the FlexScan T1721, a 17-inch touch screen monitor. The FlexScan T1721 employs surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology which offers excellent durability and responds to input from both a finger and a gloved hand. This makes the T1721 ideal for factories, clean rooms, and retail environments. SAW technology has minimal deviation compared to most other touch screen technologies which ensures that the touch point corresponds to the touch of the finger.

The FlexScan T1721 has a native resolution of 1280X1024, contrast ratio of 1000:1, and horizontal and vertical viewing angles of 160 degrees. Optical clarity of the touch panel is 91% and touch life is 50 million touches minimum. Compatible operating systems are Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit) and XP (32-bit).

DVI-D and D-sub mini 15 pin inputs allow for simultaneous connection to computers outfitted with digital or analog graphics boards. A button on the front panel lets the user quickly toggle between input signals when two computers are connected to the monitor at the same time.

The screen can be adjusted to the ideal viewing position with EIZO's ArcSwing 2 stand. This stand offers a curved range of motion with 104 mm height adjustment and 65 tilt.

To save energy and prevent eye strain, an automatic brightness sensor called "Auto EcoView" is included. Auto EcoView measures the ambient light and optimizes the screen's brightness. This ensures that the screen is never too bright which saves on electricity costs and makes the screen easier to view.

Dual 0.5 watt built-in speakers for audio confirmation of touch input.

Four preset viewing modes Text, sRGB, Custom (user defined settings), and EyeCare. EyeCare lowers the screen's brightness to just 3 cd/m2 and is ideal for work environments with little or no ambient lighting.

User-activated "EcoView Index" gauge that indicates energy consumption in correlation with the screen's brightness to encourage environmental consciousness while working.

Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Silver compliant.

3-year manufacturer's warranty.
