New Sony Clie Puts Multimedia in a PDA

[excerpt] Sony Electronics unveiled its second-generation Clie Tuesday, marking the first time a Palm OS-powered handheld will offer an embedded digital audio player and a high-resolution color screen, according to the company. The newly designed Clie PEG-N710C draws on Sony's personal audio, digital display and handheld background. The device promises a multimedia experience while retaining Palm OS functionality.

The new handheld will be available in June from U.S. retailers for less than US$500, Sony said. The product also can be ordered now at Sony's Web site.
