StudyCards(TM) Creator Can Be Used With TI's Wireless and Handheld Education Tools

DALLAS, March 27 -- Texas Instruments, the leader in handheld educational technology, today announced the introduction of StudyCards(TM) Creator, a new learning tool enabling students to create academically diverse stacks of electronic flashcards. This computer-based, add-on application can be used with the TI-Navigator(TM) wireless classroom learning system and the TI-83 Plus and TI-73 handheld graphing units, the most popular handheld educational products in schools today.

TI has also developed flashcard stacks in conjunction with leading national educators and online education companies such as Quia.com and FreeVocabulary.com. These stacks encompass a wide array of subject fields for quiz and exam preparation, including history, geography, science, art, English literature, economics and music. Specific stack titles include U.S. Colonial History, Capitals of European Countries, Art Prehistory, Plant Cell Vocabulary, A Feast of Homonyms, World Currencies and 100 Most Common SAT® Words. These stacks are available via TI's Web site at education.ti.com.

TI's StudyCards Creator allows parents, students and teachers to create subject-specific cards on their computers and then download the lists to the TI-Navigator system for in-class use, or to their TI-83 Plus and TI-73 handheld units using a TI-GRAPH LINK(TM) connection cable for individual use.

The StudyCards Creator flashcard stacks are accessed through TI's recently introduced StudyCards Viewer application, which displays the individual cards on TI handheld graphing devices' screens. Students can then answer problems by ``flipping'' the cards over to see the correct answer, or moving on to other cards. StudyCards Viewer also tabulates responses so students can see how many answers they got right, wrong or skipped after completing a stack.

``This new StudyCards application meets the technologically evolving needs of teachers and students by giving them a rich new learning resource for TI's leading line of handheld graphing units, as well as our new TI-Navigator wireless classroom system,'' said Tom Ferrio, vice president of Educational & Productivity Solutions for TI. ``Through the introduction of such add-on applications, TI is providing educators with new ways to enhance existing technology, extending the use of the TI-83 Plus and TI-73 beyond math and science.''

The StudyCards application also extends TI's dedication to fostering a collaborative environment among educators. Teachers, parents and students will also have the opportunity to share stacks they have created by submitting them to TI's Web site.
